Waking Haze

(again I'm so sorry for no art again I'm dealing with some art block I realize)

Perry woke up feeling not entirely there. Don't get it wrong he's aware of everything around him he just feels like he's not around like he's just observing the world around him. Those dreams are really getting to him. But he has to pretend that everything is just fine or his family would get worried about him. He eats his grub grind breakfast without a problem. Let the boys pet him and pick them up. Maybe staying home for a while wouldn't be so bad. He could spend a lot of time with his family until he gets his act together. Maybe even let Candice dress him up for once, he really does need to spend more time with her. He just hopes the weird feeling he has doesn't ruin the day for him.

Perry sits perfectly still as Candice dresses him up as some Little Prince character. She mentions it was some story that got a collaboration with a game and she became obsessed with the game and the collaboration and wanted to do something about it. He must admit he does look good in a scarf he just doesn't understand that the Little Prince doesn't have a crown, he's a prince after all. After she was finished she told him to stay and she would get into her costume. Must be something for the internet he thinks not exactly caring just happy to hang out with her.

The next thing he knew was that she is in a cream colored dress with a little glowing device tape to it she seems to be also wearing a handmade cape looking thingy that is brown. And a simple mask that has yellow mascot eye cover behind the eye holes of the mask that has a glowy diamond in the middle of the mask's forehead. Her character looks actually interesting maybe if he has the time he should look up whatever she's been playing, maybe even get Stacy into it as well he thinks he would enjoy playing it with her if it's a two-player game.

Candice picks him up and grabs her phone and takes a couple of pictures of him and her together. And the next thing he knows she took him out of his little outfit and told her to go hang out with the boys so she could take some pictures of her character by herself. Which he does and just sits on the back patio watching the boys and their friends work on building something out of paper mache. And when they were eventually done and was going to show Linda the wind blew it away before she could see it. These kids really should have put more proper placements to keep it grounded. But before the kids got too sad about it Linda brought up as she got popsicles and that seemed to brighten them up.

Perry smiles at how simple kids could be sometimes, they could be sad about something then get cheered up in the same minute. He wished she was simple sometimes especially right now because the hazy feeling hasn't gone away at all. He's actually starting to get worried about it. What is wrong with him?

Normalcy

Perry goes to the lab and find the arm where the lab results are and sneakily takes a photo of the arm. He feels like he's doing something bad but he isn't it just thinking about it it would be weird to ask photos even though you're not part of the investigation. But no one caught him so he's home free. he just needs to talk with Molly for a while about Mae now.

Perry gets off of work feeling a little bad. Molly wasn't too happy about what Perry had to tell her on where he saw Mae today but at least she's going to speak to her parents about it so they could talk to her about it and make sure she stays safe. He just hopes she hasn't gotten her into actual trouble. There's nothing he could do now all he needs to do is go home.

Perry sits on his couch watching the television as he eats his microwave dinner until he hears his phone ringing, when he picked it up it was his sister-in-law Linda. "Hey Perry how are you doing?" She asked him on the phone and he gave her the same answer like every time she called him. "I'm fine Linda." "how are you and the family." He adds "oh everyone is fine here, the boys just entered the Young engineer and builders program." She answers and Perry genuinely smiles at that "that's great! Tell them that Uncle Perry is so proud of them." "Trust me I will." Linda's tone started taking a shift "so....have you made the proper arrangements for-" Perry knew exactly what she was going to say and cut her off "Linda I don't want to talk about this right now...can we just focus on your kids." Linda did not like that clearly and pushed more not out of malice but out of concern "Perry you can't pretend that everything is normal! it's been almost 5 months you can't just expect that!-" Perry couldn't handle this conversation right now not ever but he does not want to argue with her "I'm sorry but I have to go have a good night." He says quickly before hanging up.

Perry takes a deep sigh, closing his eyes for a few seconds too long before opening them. He feels shaky and his chess feels tight. "Not now..." Perry thinks to himself calming himself down. He looks down at his half-dinner. He doesn't feel hungry anymore but can't but please go to waste. He gets up and wraps it with some plastic wrap and puts in the fridge for later. After that he goes to bed. Not before looking up the door in the hallway for seconds too long. That room can't stay empty forever.

Perry walks into work a little disgruntled after the events with Mae borowski. he really hopes he doesn't get a call about a cat falling off the power line and going splat on the pavement. But anyways he has to clock into work and grabs his badge and heads to his desk.

As he's filing some police work he overhears Molly and some of the lab tech men.

"so what's the info on the arm?"

"middle-aged, male, and when the arm was removed the body was already deceased."

"info on the tattoo on their arms?"

"sadly not so far, no reports of dang activity with diamond symbols or any type of graffiti with that type of design... So at this point the diamond tattoo is just a diamond tattoo."

"that doesn't help at all, my niece saw that arm. Do you think that might be a little bit traumatizing for anyone to see? She's just a kid and she saw something awful. I need a little bit more information about it so she can sleep better at night. And we don't who's the man was."

"I'm sorry Molly but that's all the information we have so far."

Perry felt bad. He knows Molly cares a lot about Mae and honestly If it was his niece Candice or his nephews Phineas and Ferb saw something like that he would want to get answers as quickly as possible so they could understand what happened. But the bright side he can get an actual picture of the arm now.

So he could get a picture and pretend what he did never happen maybe go and talk to Molly about him seeing Mae on the power lines. Act completely normal.

Mae broski

Perry woke up in a cold sweat. His heart thumping in his chest like crazy. He felt like he ran for miles out of fear. He can't remember what he dreamed about but it was probably bad, but at least he's not waking up with a headache, he's just tired. He needs coffee before going into work. At least he got some coffee beans at the snack falcon yesterday. Perry gets up makes his bed and heads up the room not having time to look at the board.

Perry stands in the kitchen drinking his coffee. Not the greatest flavor of coffee but he could take what he can get. Once he was done he puts the cup in the sink grabs his keys and leave the apartment ready to start the day and work.

As Perry walks down the sidewalk his eyes catches a shadow from above. He looks up and sees Mae broski standing on one of the power lines. Clearly shock and concern he shouts out to her. "Mae broski get down before you hurt yourself!!" Mae looks down at him with a little curiosity and annoyance. "What are you a cop? Also how do you know my name?" "I am and I work with your Aunt Molly, she says you're a bright young lady and I don't want that to be dim by you falling and landing on your head!" Perry shouts up to her which Mae scoffs "oh great another Mall cop, don't worry about me sir I'm a cat we always land on her feet." "I am not a Mall cop, even though you are a cat you could still get hurt you're not invincible young lady!" Mae laughs "You're sounding like my dad, but seriously I'm going to be fine." Perry who's going to speak again but she was already on her way down the street.

"I hope she's right, it always takes one wrong fall..." Perry trails off and shakes imagery of the poor kid being driven to the hospital by an ambulance. Her parents would be terrified for her sakes every time she does this. Maybe he should bring this up with her mom or dad if he gets the chance to speak with any of them. But anyways he has work to do he just hopes he doesn't get a phone call about a cat falling down the wrong way. Mae seems like a very bright and a clever kid... She reminds him of...someone he knows.. he can't think about it right now he has work to do.

Perry didn't really remember much before going to bed that night. He's been mostly on autopilot for the rest of the day after coming home. But he knows that he's dreaming. The sky beautiful with Stars. But this time he didn't have to search for the musicians he already finding himself in the music but this time he hears the singing right away.

He follows the singing maybe it would explain what's going on. He falls it for a while until he finds himself in a field with a giant hole. It looks infinite but the singing comes through it.

That it's one thing he understands from the singing, And he knows it can't be good. He feels his chest tighten up. He needs to get far away from this hole as he can until he wakes up. He doesn't care if he doesn't wake up as himself he just needs to get away from it as far as possible. He didn't even notice that he's starting to run away from it, from the hole. But the singing gets louder and louder as if whoever was singing was behind him then

Perry feels like he's been out of it for hours since waking up. He felt a little floaty if that makes any sense. Of course he can be normal around his family and work but he can't hide it from his Nemesis and friend Heinz Doofenshmirtz.

Perry found himself stuck to the floor staring out to the balcony as Doof was monologuing. He tried his best to listen but his brain was just shutting off and he kept zoning out and it was very noticeable. "You see Perry that's why I- hey Perry the platypus are you alright?" Doof asked him and Perry knew he couldn't pass him or he'll keep pushing until he crack and honestly he does not have the energy for that so he'll honest with him.

[I have been having weird and realistic dreams] Perry told him grateful that while Doof was a member of owca he adapted to learn animal speech, even though it was just for telling agent Della the Dalmatian off for calling his ocelot mom a whisker face but at least he could understand him a lot more. "Oh...what are they about?"

[Can't go into detail that much or I'll feel like my head is being crushed, but I wake up as me but different, I have a totally different life, and people are different too. I wouldn't mind that type of dream but keep finding myself having those dreams.]

"That's a little concerning can you tell me more? Like how people and you look like?"

[Well we were all animals but like if we were like people, but things were not complex looking it looked like.... Shapes... As if unfreakled paper mache came to life...] He trails off feeling more unattached with reality.

Doof looks rightfully concerned about his friend "Okay that is definitely odd that is no dream I would have, do you want me to call my evil stuff off until you can figure this stuff out?"

Perry couldn't lie he really needed it, of course he's going to miss their daily banter and sass but he needs to figure out what's going on and how to deal with this and having the fight isn't doing him any favors. [I'll appreciate that, it would be an unfair fight if I'm just out of it all the time]

Doof gives Perry a concerning yet warm smile as he release Perry from his trap "Then that's it, I'll hold off my schemes until you have everything under control, I hope you feel better Perry the platypus."

And just like that Perry grabbed his jetpack and went back home feeling a little bit better but he got to tell someone what's going on in his head.

The arm

Perry makes his way back from the snacks out into his apartment but as he's on his way he bumps into Molly. "Oh I'm so sorry Molly." He stampers out. "It's fine Perry." She brushes him off "how is your day so far?" She asks him "well I just went to the snack falcon and I'm just heading back." He answered her truthfully "it was for the candy corn wasn't it?” he nods and she scoffs "who eats candy corn?” "hey don't knock it until you try it.” he comes back with an argument. "Well maybe one day anyways I have to go back to the station have a good day Perry." "Bye Molly." Perry waves for goodbye and continued walking home

Perry enters his apartment and puts the stuff that he bought in the fridge except for the candy corn that's staying out. After that he decides to sit on the couch for a while and watch early season runs of Garbo & Malloy. He doesn't watch them as much... Too many memories... Great now he can't stop thinking about it. God how long has it been since he could actually enjoy the show? Almost a year probably.... He should go back to the board maybe something can make sense today.

Perry turns off the TV and goes to his room and look at the board of newspapers and missing posters and string once more. He stared at it for a long time trying to figure out if he missed something this time this is definitely an definition of insanity. He could feel the frustration as he stares at that sketch of the arm. It has to be connected to something, anything but he can't figure it out. He gives up and decides the sleep the rest of the day he couldn't handle being awake right now.

Shopping and Friends

Perry wakes up with a headache. Which is odd for him because migraines don't really happen for him. But he has some shopping to do today and he can't just rot in bed all day rot like the last few times he had the day off.

Perry gets up and makes his bed like every morning. He glances at the board before leaving hoping maybe something clicked but like the last time nothing. He makes his way out of his room and makes his way to the kitchen where he put the ibuprofen. He grabs the pill bottle from top of the microwave and grabs a cup of water and takes it. After that was done he where is this keys and a bag and makes his way out of his apartment.

Perry enters the snack falcon, yes he could go to the grocery store but hey they have good prices and candy corn all year round it's a good deal. As he gets gets the stuff that he would be making for dinner that night he hears a voice. "Oh hey Perry." Perry looks over to where the voice came from and saw his neighbor Heinz Doofenshmirtz a short brown cat who's approaching and waving at him. "Oh hey Doof.” Perry replied giving a small wave back. "How are you doing lately? We haven't talked much since..." Doof trails off he wanted to finish what he was going to say but he knows the subject is still very sore. "It's fine dude don't worry about it, life just happens." Perry speaks up clearly trying to avoid the subject as fast as possible "how's Vanessa doing?" He asked Doof. "Oh she's doing great, she's learning about consolation this semester and she's doing very well." Doof answered being so proud of his kitten and Perry smiles. "That's good to hear." Perry said as he places candy corn and his basket. "What adult eats candy corn?” Doof ask looking a little disgusted. "If you try it you would know it taste good, also it it has a fun texture, it's like candle wax but you could actually eat it." Perry replies which makes Doof more disgusted "why would you want to eat candle wax???” "I just think it would be a fun texture that's all get off my back man" Perry scoffs. "Well anyways I finish shopping, see you around man." Perry tells him before walking off to the checkout.

Walking or dreaming

He stayed home after returning from Pinky's. He laid down for the rest of the day until his family came home. They all look like they had a fun time but it was tiring, so tired that they decided to order take out instead of cooking. Of course he acted like they're beloved pet even after having a strange day. He didn't feel like eating that much but he had to or they would worry about him. Definitely did not feel the best afterwards but it's for the sake of them. But right after dinner everyone went off the bed and so did he.

Perry finds himself looking up to a beautiful night sky of beautiful shades of dark blues magentas and purples. he smiles knowing that it's one of his favorite type of dreams again. The environment was a little bit odd looking just like the rest of these types of dreams. This time it looks like he was on a giant whale with an entire city on its back by the looks of it and the sounds it's making. He decided to start walking, he has to find the musicians or he's going to be stuck in the quiet for the whole dream and he doesn't like that, he loves their music.

He walks down the streets and alleyways and he eventually finds them all and music filled the world. There's nothing much she could do now after exploring and finding them so what he normally does when he's done is just take in everything and endorse himself with the music.

He finds a nice bench to sit on and looks up at the night sky as the giant whale moves the city. He sits there and just enjoys the moment of the music and the scenery. Until he heard the singing again.

Comes from everywhere, mostly it's a lot stronger when he looks down. He doesn't understand what the lyrics are were who even is singing but he knows someone is singing. It's like listening to songs in a different language that you're unfamiliar with. You know it's a song, you know it's someone singing, but you can't understand any of it. The weirdest part he can't describe if the singing is even good or not, it's just there.

Then the headaches came back but and a higher velocity. Like something was trying to crush his skull as if his head was soda can. He felt woozy, he is so lucky that he is sitting down because he knows if he was standing he would have falled over. Then he feels his world going black, but the music and the singing continue.

Awake again

Perry wakes up groggy. What a very odd dream, definitely a new one. But it's a new day and he can't think much about it. Pinky invited him over for some pizza and listening to that new album Isabella's mom ordered herself that him and Pinky both enjoy. And the best part is that his family and Pinky's family would both be out for the day, something about a game show or something? He doesn't really care he hopes everyone has fun. But for now hang out time with one of his best animal buds.

Perry lays down on the floor on Isabella's floor. Not doing anything just thinking. About the dream he had and what it could mean, and what even caused that dream to begin with. Then he hears Pinky coming into the room and put in the album on the music player and setting down the empty album. Perry sits up to say hello to him then he looks down at the album on the floor and he pauses.

He recognizes those animals on the cover they look exactly like the characters in his dream. "Pinky what is this?" Perry ask still looking at the album. "Oh those are the bands mascots, such a unique designs to be honest." Pinky said nonchalantly has he carefully places the plate of the Pizza on the ground next to both of them before sitting down. "Honestly I think it's cool that their mascots are animals we don't really get that much animal representation for music.... Hey Perry are you okay? you haven't grab a slice yet, I made sure I got your favorite." Pinky asked him concerned making Perry notice that he has been staring at the album for too long to be normal and he looks up at him. "I'm fine pinky, just had a weird dream last night, kind of hard to explain but I do know that pizza was involved." Perry told him. "Can you tell me about it?” Pinky asked him when he was about to answer but he felt a sharp pain in the back of his skull, he groans in pain before rubbing the back of his head. "Maybe you're not okay, you should go home and rest." Pinky said to him which honestly at the moment that actually sounds a lot better for him right now. So cutting their hangout short he heads home.

pizza and arms

Perry clocked out of work a little bit early since that's what doctor Hank told him he should do for a while to "ease his mind" yeah losing hours that will be cutting in next paycheck eases his mind so well. But he knows he can't just stay, the chief will have to make him leave so he has no choice in the matter. What would he even do with the rest of the day? Can't exactly go to the library since it's a too far for walking. Maybe heading to the diner would be good, he definitely could go and eat. The food isn't that great but it's a comfort place.

Perry stands at the Booth waiting to order a pizza with a wild berry smoothie he noticed a group of young adults already sitting down. He knows them kind of, Gregg from the snack falcon who was generally a nice young man just a little too extreme with energy, and of course his boyfriend Angus who works at the Video Outpost "too", very nice man he tells him what good movies come back from being rented. He also spots Bea, the poor girl working day and night at her father's store that should be his job to do. He is glad that she is taking a break though. Then he spots Mae, from the pictures that Molly has shows him she barely changed at sll. He can't exactly hear what they're talking about and it's even too late to ask since they're already walking out of the diner.

After his meal and paying he steps out of the diner to see a couple of cop cars with fellow cops and then Molly. Rightfully confused he makes his way to Molly before she stops him. "Don't take another step, you're going to be stepping on a crime scene." She warns him. "What crime scene?" He asked her, then he noticed her pointing down which his eyes followed which made his stomach drop.

On the sidewalk is a dismember arm. Where did it come from? Whose arm is this? What caused this to happen? Thoughts ran through his head as his stomach felt queasy, the pizza and wild berry smoothie not going well together now. He has seen horrible crashes before outside of town during patrol but nothing could have prepare him to see just a random arm on the sidewalk. "What the hell happened here?!" Perry desperately asked Molly but she could only gave him a shrug. "Honestly I have no idea but it's bad, I'm going to have to drive you home tonight." Molly said looking at him. "Why? I can walk home by myself Molly" Perry asked her a little offended by her decision. "Because by the time you'll be halfway home it will be dark, something bad is going on and I want to make sure you will be safe." Molly answered him "so get into the car." Molly commanded more than asking which he reluctantly followed.

The car ride was quiet, very quiet. Possibly both police officers weren't prepared to see what they saw today and when Molly stopped at his apartment and Perry stepped out she stops him for a moment. "Look Perry I know we don't exactly know everything yet but I just wanted to make sure you were safe walking home tonight, you're one of our best police officers." Molly told him looking genuine. "I know..." Perry said of reluctantly "I probably would have done the same thing." Perry said smiling a little let her and she gives the smile back. "Goodnight Perry." "Night Molly." Than Molly drives off.

Perry steps inside of his apartment. He was going to make himself dinner but his appetite was clearly ruined so he decided to go to bed for the night. But he does have one thing to do before bed.

Perry walks to a drawer and takes out a piece of paper and a pen and start sketching out the arm and the detail that he remembered. Until he gets pictures this has to be the best he can do. It takes him a while but he finished even filled out the weird tattoo on the arm, his arm felt really tired because of that. He picks up the paper and takes it to his room and puts it on the building board, along with newspaper articles, missing posters. He then grabs a small red yarn and wraps it around the tack that holds the sketch to the board to the question mark in the middle of the board. He looks hard at the new part of the weird mess of a jigsaw pieces of that are separate but almost go together like a puzzle.

He gets tired of looking at it, he wish he could just figure it out already, find out what the hell is happening in possum springs. But he can't, he doesn't have all the pieces. And he hates that. But there's nothing he could do tonight, so taking his shoes off. He gets into bed and calls it a night.

Empty room and work

Perry woke up groggy as he sits up on his bed, such a weird dream he thought, but soon the weird events in his dream fade away as he becomes more and more awake. He gets up from his bed and makes it before leaving his room for the morning.

As he walks down his small hallway he looks over to a door, a door that is to a room that belong to someone, the room stuck as it was when that someone left. The room felt so empty without that someone, but he hopes one day that room will be filled once more. He quickly shakes off those thoughts and memories, he has to go into work and it's a long walk since he doesn't have a car anymore, he sold it when- now he's just back where he started. He took a deep breath grabbed his house keys and went out the door to his two bedroom and one bathroom apartment.

He felt the Autumn breeze Russell against his fur as he walked along the sidewalk, soon it would be Harfest. He enjoyed the festival that tells the odd history of possum springs, but he mostly enjoys the Legends and the myths that centers around it. Found an interesting myth about the witch of the possum springs, it says that the witch had a father who was in fact the valley itself, long ago a warlock upon death fuse himself the valley so he could kept on protecting his child. Perry grabs a cup of coffee in the break room since he didn't have enough time to make coffee at home. As he took a sip of the crappy work coffee he sees Molly, a fellow coworker. "Morning Molly, how are you?" Perry said looking over to her with a smile. "Morning Perry, I'm doing quite well just a little tired since I had to go out of my way my niece to her parents house," Molly says that she grabs her own cup of coffee and continues. "She hopped the fence of the close down playground." Perry thanks for a moment before asking "isn't the fence almost 20 ft tall????" Molly takes a deep and tired sigh "yep I'm glad she didn't break anything, but hey this would teach my sister's husband to keep notes on the things that he's supposed to remember." Molly scuffs. "Why is Mae in town anyways? Is visiting for Harfest?" Perry asked remembering that Mae was supposed to be in college still. "She dropped out." Molly said bluntly causing Perry to be curious "that's unfortunate, what caused her to drop out?" "I don't know she hasn't told me or her parents yet.” Molly answered "well.... Hopefully the reason she dropped out wasn't because something really bad happened to her..." Perry said being a little worried for the little browski. "I hope so too, she's my only niece, if something bad did happen to her I would probably lose my badge because of it." Molly said abruptly showing off her deep care for her niece which made Perry laugh a little. "And I will be your accomplice on that." The two laughed a little before Molly finished her coffee. "Well I'll be off I have to do a patrol today see you later Perriwinkle." Perry rolls his eyes at that nickname that Molly has given him and wave goodbye to her. "See you later Molly dolly." he calls out to her as she leaves the room chuckling a little bit as he hears her groaning at his nickname for her.
