I’ve been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of “how to draw” videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can’t make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here’s a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

I just thought of a vampire caretaker idea: using persuasion/charm ability on whumpee to calm them down and help them be more comfortable. I just felt like sharing because I thought it was cute!

It’s so cute I wrote about it! (I take requests, by the way! I’m just very slow at filling them!) Aaand I am so sorry you meant this to be adorable and fluffy and my brain said “NO, ANGST” so it ended up possibly a lot more angsty than you intended, hopefully that’s all right! (I also started working on it around Valentine’s Day so even though it’s horribly late for that it ended up kinda…romantic? I just let the piece do what it wanted😆) Hope you like it, tulip anon!

Persuasion

(Featuring: angst, vampire persuasion, hypnotism ish??, nightmares, all that)

There is truly no other choice. None at all. Julian must have told himself that twenty times already, and yet here he is, still not having done it. He can't bring himself to try. He hasn't used persuasion for- decades, if his hurried count is correct. He doesn't like overriding another being's will, forcing them to do whatever he wishes without the ability to protest. It feels so terrible, so wrong, so...monstrous.

Especially when the person he must use it on is the dearest person in all the world to him.

Sam had woken up screaming again. Not so uncommon; the both of them have had more cause for nightmares than most people. But this time, Julian cannot break him out of it. He is lost in a haze of terrible memories, and Julian has tried in vain to drag him out. It feels like trying to pull a drowning man out of the water who will not stop panicking long enough to let himself be taken back into the boat.

And Sam is very much indeed panicking. He has wedged himself into a corner of the kitchen, trembling and threatening by turns, completely unaware of where he is and who he is speaking to. He's found a stake somewhere; he will not let Julian approach.

Not willingly.

Julian squeezes his eyes shut. "Sam, darling, please don't make me do this." His voice comes out ragged and desperate.

Sam takes no heed of it, hiding his head in the crook of his arm.

Julian swallows thickly, and lets the slick, oily sweetness of persuasion seep into his words. There is another kind, a cold, commanding kind that forces a human mind to obey through fear rather than compelling. But Julian will not use that type of power on Sam, not until he has no other choice. So he calls up the smooth, syrupy charm and lets it coat his tongue.

"Sam," he persuades, softly and sweetly. "You want to look up. Look at me, Sam."

Sam's head jerks up like a puppet on a string, his eyes suddenly wide and staring directly into Julian's.

Julian blinks back tears. "Sam, breathe. Slowly. In and out. Breathe."

The heaving, gasped breaths stop, replaced instantly with calm, controlled inhales and exhales. Sam looks into Julian's eyes, his own glazed with the magic, waiting for the next order. Julian can feel Sam's mind, the way his own wraps around it and takes control of it, spinning silken threads of persuasion around it like a spider webbing up a fly it has caught.

There is so much fear. Julian refuses to force his intrusion any deeper. If he wanted to, he could dredge up the specific memories haunting Sam at this very moment, see exactly why he is afraid. He could erase them if he chose. Vampire persuasion is control of a human's mind.

Julian will not go further than he already has. Simple commands, for Sam's own sake. That is all he will ever do.

It still tears him apart to do even that much.

"Stand up, Sam," he whispers. "Nice and slow. Listen to my voice. You want to listen to it. You want- you want to obey it. Drop the stake, now.”

Sam moves like a puppet on strings, his legs unfolding. His hand opens to let the stake clatter to the floor. It sounds so terribly loud in the silence of the room. He doesn't break eye contact with Julian, that hazy look constant. A tear slips down Julian's cheek. Sam is shaky on his feet, and Julian can't help slipping an arm under the human's shoulder, supporting as much of his weight as he can. "Back to the bedroom, love," he breathes. "One step, that's it. Now the other. Listen to me. Almost there."

Sam's face looks so trusting. Slack-jawed and staring-eyed, the magic draining all emotion from his face, but trusting nonetheless. He keeps his eyes on Julian even when Julian breaks the staring gaze, using only his voice to carry on the spell.

"Back on the bed, sweetheart," Julian breathes. "Come on, one leg up- there we go. Now the second one. Good, good." The tears streak his face unheeded now. "Let's have you under the blankets, Sam. Here, let me do it. Nice and calm now, aren't we?" He draws in a shuddering breath. "I'm going to let go now, Sam. The persuasion. And I- I hope you will forgive me."

With a rushing exhale and a tight shutting of his eyes, the forced bond breaks. Julian could save it, coil up the magic thread and tuck it away in Sam's mind for if he ever needs to use it again.

Instead he shatters it, thoroughly, stripping it down to the smallest fiber and shredding it until there's hardly any trace of the persuasion left.

Sam gasps out a breath, the haze sliding from his eyes like a window shutter being opened. "J-Jules?" His voice trembles. "What- how did I get- what happened?"

Julian almost reaches out for him, pulling him into an embrace. He goes so far as to lift one hand.

And he stops.

"Forgive me, darling," he whispers, unsure if he should even use the term any longer now that he has betrayed it. "You were so frightened. I couldn't- couldn't calm you any other way."

Sam's eyes widen in realization. "You- persuaded me?"

Julian hangs his head.

Sam sighs, a long drawn-out thing. Then he reaches out and drags Julian onto the bed with him.

"What-"

"I'm not gonna say I don't mind," Sam says softly. "Feels funny, thinking of you doing that. I'd like to say don't you ever do it again, but truth is if I'm that deep in a nightmare it's- it's probably best if I don't remember what it is." He looks into Julian's eyes. "You didn't want to do it, yeah?"

Julian pulls in a shaky breath. "No," he admits softly. "I hated it. It felt- it felt so wrong, Sammy, I couldn't bear to think-" he breaks off, shuddering. "I didn't command you. I couldn't have done that. I used the gentler sort, but it was so- so insidious and so unsettling and so wrong! I was in your head, Sam, I could have done whatever I wanted and you'd never have known and I know that you'll never forgive me and I-"

Sam shuts him up by pressing a kiss to his lips.

Julian goes very still.

Sam kisses him more insistently, and Julian lets him do it, nearly stunned. When Sam at last pulls away, Julian at last finds his voice to stammer "W-what-"

"I can see you beating yourself to pieces about it," Sam says. He's smiling, somehow. Not quite a full one, but enough. "Stop it. I'm fine. You didn't hurt me, and we both know you'd never do it again unless you had to, right?"

"Right," Julian replies, almost before Sam has the word fully out. He has been forgiven, it seems, though he hardly understands why.

Sam settles himself down in the bed, glancing at the window- tightly shuttered to keep out the sun, for Julian's sake. "Probably still a few hours till nightfall," he murmured. "Will you stop brooding like a terrible creature of the night and come lie down?"

Julian obeys as if Sam is now the one persuading him. He still feels like a monster. Whatever his beautiful human wants of him, he'll do it. Though it will never make up for what he's done tonight.

"What are you thinkin'?" Sam mutters, somewhat sleepily.

"Just wondering how I could ever make it up to you." Julian sighs. "Regardless of my reasoning for it, it was wrong, and I-I do not know-"

Sam props himself up on an elbow. "I don't want you to "make it up to me," Jules," he says almost sharply. "I'm still wrapping my head around the whole thing, but you did it to pull me out of a damned awful nightmare, and I'm glad you did it even if I don't like the feeling of it. I love you, and that's not gonna change because you persuaded me out of a panic."

Julian, against himself, brushes a tear from the corner of his eye. "I love you too."

Sam draws in a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "Of course, if you did want to make it up to me, there's one thing you could do."

"Anything," Julian agrees instantly.

In the dark, Sam's eyes are twinkling. "Kiss me again," he says, and Julian needs no persuasion to obey.
