Pleonexia is a 'Philosophic Metal' band from Italy.
They play a mix of 1980's hard rock and heavy metal with strong
epic influences and with lyrics that encompass philosophical subjects.
"Pleonexia" is an ancient Greek term roughly meaning 'covetousness'; it was often used to express the insatiable desire to have what rightfully belongs to others. However, the band reads that term with a positive significance, as one of the best qualities of man, that causes him never to accept passively his conditions but inciting him to try overtaking his limits.
The project was born in 2012 from the one man band Michele Da Pila.
The current line up is composed of six members:
Michele Da Pila (vocals, guitars and keyboards – composition), Andrea Autiero (guitars), Andrea Borlengo (bass), Lorenzo Luca (keyboards), Daniele Ferro Milon (drums).
In 2013 they signed a worldwide deal with German label Pure Underground Records / Pure Steel Records.
Their debut album "Break all chains" has been released on january the 17-th 2014. Thanks to it, Pleonexia is recognised to "have achieved something unique for a band of our days" (Nick Parastatidis - Behind The Veil), to be able to create a distinctive and recognizable sound, to have "forged their own style"(Mark Vander Zanden – Truemetallives), putting together classical sounds, 80s heavy metal, symphonic metal and hard rock: "Can all this be combined into a single album? The Pleonexia demonstrate with great skill that it is possible!"(Mike Dostert - Toughmagazine). In 2017 the videoclip of the song "Pleonexia" is included in the DVD "Visual Diamonds", also published by Pure Steel Records. n 2019 they finished the production of their second album "Virtute e Canoscenza", that has been released through Pure Underground/Pure Steel Records on February 21, 2020.
