Bad Idea

“Bad Idea” from Waitress, is, quite possibly, the sexiest song in musical theatre. Not just the music, the actions. Especially the performance with Jessie Mueller and Drew Gehling. The way they run to each other when they say, ‘Let’s just keep kissing till we come to-’ or when they push away from each other before singing, ‘hold me close while I think this through’ and they pull each other close, their lips barely touching before once again pushing away and circling around the bed, hitting it every time they say ‘I need a bad idea’ when they finally decide what they’re gonna do is okay, and the way they push the stuff off the bed and Jessie jumps on it and when she jumps up and then the music fades and she sings, ‘it’s a pretty good bad idea’ and OH MY GOD the way Drew jumps on the bed and leans over, putting his knee in between her legs as they slowly lie down and Drew pushes her down gently but really it’s her who’s in control of the entire situation as she pulls him close as they sing their last line of, ‘me and you’ and that little audible gasp right before the song ends and she pulls him in for a kiss. AND ALL THE MELODIES AND THE BEAT WHEN THEY’RE RESITING EACH OTHER AND THE DROPPING NOISE AS THEY GRAB EACH OTHER BEFORE TRYING TO RESIST AGAIN OH MY GOD I’M SUCH A THEATRE NERD.
