Adventures with Totoro

So for my 18th birthday i got a sewing machine! And as every person who has wanted a machine for a long while it stood unused for over a year. But see i got exited so i decided to try and make small things. A dice bag seemed small and do-able! And it went fine! As every sane peron would do i decided thath the next thing i wanted to make is an entire Totoro plush. Seems logical right totally not skipping a step or anything. So i began! 

Step 1 in my Totoro endeavours: Try and find a pattern...  This one was actually pretty easy! i found a great pattern with very clear instructions on Cholyknight. Than i proceeded to mess them up entirely by not paying attention or being stubborn and doing my own stuff... 

Step 2: Gathering fabric As a second step i needed some fabric. I ghad none and didn’t fancy buying it for a project that might become a total disaster. So i rummage through my and my family’s closet finding old shirts that are not going to be worn anymore. 

Step 3: Cutting out the pattern! 

This was easy enough... Though i don’t recommend trying to cut fabric with normal scissors, and i did cave and lend some fabric scissors from my step-mom. But so far so good!

Step 4: Sewing it together! I decided to use my machine! This was the biggest mistake!  Pro tip! sewing curves with a machine on an elastic fabric is not a good idea! I than decided to try it by hand, that worked loads better, though i can defenitely still use som practice.

Step 5: Totoro Assemble!
