i'm not saying people shouldn't be reading more books, but i do think it's funny how many people thinking "reading comprehension" is just about how good you are at reading books and not like. criticial thinking skills.

I don't wanna hear one more bitch saying that contacting your senators&reps doesn't work
Btw, this is FAR from getting rid of the land selloff from the BBB. Keep at it. Mike Lee specifically is notable because he's from Utah, the state that's pushed for that sell off very heavily for mining income.

Tumblr is good for creative types because the tag system lets you be truly deranged about how much you like it without feeling as Exposed as a Comment Section

people really seem to struggle with the idea that you can think something is dickhead behaviour and still not want it to be illegal

Can I hear your take on horrorterrors (if u have one)? Like, what exactly are them, and are they good or evil (since they created the dream bubbles iirc (which could be considered smth good), but they also possessed rose (which could be considered evil? Ig???)
I FORGOT TO PUT THIS ON THE OTHER ASK BEFORE SENDING IT (sorry) BUT, DID THE HORRORTERRORS EXISTED BEFORE SBURB? OR DID SBURB CREATED THEM OR MADE IT MORE EASY FOR THEM TO "ACCESS" THE TROLLS AND KIDS?
horrorterrors exist outside of the usual bounds of space and time, in a place where "before" and "after" lose their meanings, so it's a moot point to ask whether they came first or SBURB came first...
the horrorterrors are spooky creatures that can't be neatly categorized into good and evil, because basically nothing in the game can be? lol? their formation and their intentions are deliberately kept not only unknown, but unknowable. "unknowability" is one of their defining properties.
in general, though, i think one has to remember the common motif of duality present throughout sburb and its various mechanisms - the initial game setup is described as white vs. black, creation vs. destruction; all classes are paired up in equal but opposite ways (rogues/thieves steal, princes/bards destroy, maids/knights lead, mages/seers guide, heirs/pages become, witches/sylphs change, muses/lords cause), all aspects are paired up in ying-yang sets.
skaia and the furthest ring are no different - skaia is described as a crucible of creativity, a fertile ground for new life; the furthest ring is literally where the afterlife takes place, which presents as a string of past memories on kaleidoscopic repeat. skaia adheres to the laws of physics, and the furthest ring does not. skaia is populated by clear divides, good guys and bad guys, enemies and allies; the furthest ring has dubiously nefarious beings whose motives are unknowable and obfuscated.
i cant give you an answer for what the horrorterrors are and what their aim is because the point of their existence is that their origins, existences, and intentions are unknowable. there are no answers to be found, and that is the answer. its some dao de jing shit, man

My mom got phished in an EXTREMELY refined scam that pretty much anyone could fall for-- basically her account was already pre-hacked and they spoofed the bank's number exactly, called her pretending there was fraud, and read back legitimate and fake transactions and personal info so she wouldn't suspect they weren't the bank. Then discouraged her from logging in claiming the account was locked so they could investigate the fraud-- all so she wouldnt catch them making massive purchases using her stolen info.
We have the same boss and when she told him what happened he recommended she call the bank directly, so she did and they managed to catch it in time before $20k of transactions went through. Very scary
I guess the lesson here is never ever answer your phone, I love that fraud is so rampant an entire form of mass communication is now useless
ANYONE can fall for phishing scams- my mom is extremely smart and we discuss common scams that target her age demographic and she still fell for this. If it happened to me I may have fallen for it too. Always be careful!
