They hate each other.

I pretty much never post traditional drawings anymore, but I drew this back in July when I was watching over my neighbor’s house and liked it enough to keep it. And I can never pass up an opportunity to draw Grievance being an asshole.

And here’s the source characters for the last combo character: Kaine and Vesper. Giving Vesper’s unlimited power to something with Kaine’s violent tendencies is probably not a good idea.

A while back, I used my randomizer to select two of my characters, and then I merged them together. And then I did it two more times. After drawing the three combined characters, I went ahead and drew the six characters that were the sources. I posted the source characters for the first combo character, but never got around to posting the rest. I just felt like garbage and didn't want to do anything. So they’ve just been sitting on my desktop for the past half a year or so. But now, here they are, the source characters for the second combo character: Lucky and Az. I’ll post the final source characters next week.

So this year marks 15 years since I first made Neoson and Tekko; my first characters. And with them marks 15 years since I started to actually care about drawing. I’d always liked to draw as a kid, but it wasn’t until them that something clicked. I never realized how happy it could make me. All I wanted in life from that point on was to draw and make stories. Now, handfuls of stories and a couple hundred characters later, here I am. So much has changed in my life, but my love for them and all my characters never has. They’re still one of, if not the, most important thing in my life.

I couldn’t decide when to make this picture- since I couldn’t remember the day they were made, only the year. At first I considered drawing it for either Neoson or Tekko’s birthdays, but both days are at the beginning of the year and things were very hectic for me at that time. So I decided instead to make it for my own birthday, landing it more towards the middle of the year. But uh, stuff happened again. So here it is a month and a couple days late.

2005 - 2021

I had always associated her with the mustard flowers of the field behind my house that I found her in abandoned with a broken leg as a kitten. A part of me is happy that the field was paved over years ago, I don’t know if I could handle looking at those flowers now. Goodbye, my baby girl; you don’t have to hurt ever again.

A while back, to get myself back to drawing, I had my randomizer spit me out two of my characters and merged them together for the hell of it. I had enough fun that I did it a couple times. Now, to try and get myself back to drawing again since I just... haven’t been feeling well, I decided to reveal the source characters for each of the combos by making quick doodles of them. So, here are the source characters for the first combo character: Surasu and Shizu. I’ll post for the other two combo characters in the coming weeks.

Also, before I forget again, here’s my 2020 year in review. The dates aren’t correct for most of these pictures, but that’s just how it goes here. Also, you may not recognize one of these pictures, and that’s because it doesn’t actually exist. The picture for May is currently unfinished and was put on hold, so this was more of a quick mockup for what it might look like if I actually got to finish it.

I can’t decide which design ended up being my favorite.

I wonder if anyone can tell which characters were merged? I think the 2nd one is the easiest, and the 3rd isn't too far behind. The 1st is probably the hardest because, while its the easiest to figure out what stories the two characters were from, I don’t think I’ve posted any actual pictures of those two characters.

Sorry for not posting anything in a while; my hand absolutely ate shit at the start of November, so I’ve been letting it heal up. Its in working condition again now, but I’ve got to take it slow. I should have some stuff in the next couple of weeks though.

I scribbled this out earlier this month to test my range of motion and my hand-eye coordination, its messy, but it’s all I’ve got. I just felt like drawing Grievance and Mentality in some winter clothes since it was Grievance’s birthday the other day.

Mushishi is an old favorite of mine. If you ever want to feel something, watch Mushishi on a rainy summer day, or a winter afternoon. Just anytime that everything is quiet and the world just feels... different. What are you going to feel? I don’t know man, just trust me.

A little late because I was busy and wasn’t home, but it was Saizo and Kaze’s birthday! I always draw Saizo for October 2nd, but never managed to finish a picture of Kaze. Last year I told myself that this year, I would break the curse and finally draw Kaze- even if it meant not drawing Saizo </3. So I’ve successfully half-broken the curse. Nothing I was drawing was turning out good, and as a last ditch effort, I pulled out an old unfinished drawing of Kaze I made Oct 2nd 2017, and cleaned that up instead.
