hi. Thank you for listening to my thoughts on the proposed Lesley Crusher of Star Trek:NextGen. Seeing all the proposed romance storyline ideas that were being tossed about for Lesley upsets me. i doubt they'd cast someone with short hair either.
No, why get someone that fits the bill/ character when they can ram in what they think is attractive. Hopefully they don't cock it up massively if they do go ahead with any plans

Cat: you guys know what personal space is, right?
Rimmer and Lister, literally lying on top of each other: - Huh?

[I.D: A Chris Flemming meme reading "Okay was anybody going to tell me that Paul Mcgann sings on the new peladon boxset, or was I supposed to listen to the whole thing and discover it myself??"]

you are totally right. Plus, Lesley’s storylines over the course of Star Trek TNG would have been also been affected by the body of whoever Rick Berman cast as her in 1987 *sadly makes breasts and ass motions with my hands*.
It's one of the greatest love hate relationships with watching and adoring an older program sadly, there's always going to be a few lines or scenes or something that slightly makes you wanna cringe because of the way attitudes developed away from that

I kinda wish there were full draft scripts for the originally planned Lesley Anne Crusher of Star Trek NextGen that became Wesley… but then I’m reminded of how the TNG writers storyline proposals for Lesley were lots of heterosexual romance ones because it was a girl.
I mean that's basically all media, especially of that era, going for the old "ram a love story in there because that's what everyone is dying for", although I must admit I'm not terribly familiar with star trek, more of a whovian meself, but I reckon it's a fairly standard thing for sci fi franchises to try make it appealing to a wider audience by adding in hetero romance

And I'm back to ask another stupid question
How's everyone feeling with series 8? Personally I like it but I gather it wasn't that we'll received at the time, I can see why, but it is surprisingly strong. (Mind I remember getting a bit bored of it as a kid - probably wasn't understanding the jokes as much/ had never seen it in order because Dave never plays them in order) but rewatching it now it's quite good.

Ah yes, the inherent homoeroticism of two male characters from old Britcom series that clash with one another and yet share a deep and unspoken bond.

I have a question for the red dwarf fandom; so in the episode when kryten and lister end up accidentally deleting themselves from history (the one were death just replaces people with versions that never got a chance) lister has to try convince Rimmer that he knows him; goes off on him about really personal shit etc
But how did he actually know that?
Like did Rimmer tell him? I guess he could've read stuff in diaries or eavesdropped etc, but the amount of stuff he said it seems so unlikely

You wanna know why this is one of several fantastic scenes?
Because they ACTUALLY care about each other. Lister knows he's losing the closest thing he has to a best mate ( I mean the Kat's too self interested and kryten is literally the opposite and needs to be molded into a friend) but Rimmer is actually there from the start and they were room mates and they actually used to talk and have discussions and lister knows that's what he's losing.
And if you think about it, it wouldn't have been difficult to put Rimmer down - he probably didn't have to do anything and Rimmer would've put himself down and not become ace. But lister knows what's right for Rimmer.
And Rimmer, knowing that he'd have to get a backbone and start to act like ace, trusts Listers judgement with his life because despite everything lister has always been morally correct.

So, how do we engage with this demographic? The first thing is knowing who we’re talking about and then finding a name for them.
