like blaine was clearly wealthy, came from a bougie private school background, is introduced as very confident in his sexuality and his talent, has this very natural charm to him that radiates with everyone he meets to the point that he’s getting solos at every competition for the warblers as a sophomore

and sam could not be any different. he is introduced as this football player who just wants to fit in and clearly likes performing, is a good guy but is afraid of associating with the wrong people that leads to assumptions being made about him (assumptions about his sexuality mostly) AND he is dealing with homelessness and total disruption of his life following his dad getting a new job, moving away from private school, moving into a hotel, finding happiness with quinn at mckinley just to be cheated on…it is a total dichotomy from blaine who seemingly has his life together

and they are such unlikely friends !! like no one predicted this when they first met in season 3 but they maybe have the best friendship in the entire show which is insane given how little screen time they got together outside of season 4

there’s a class differential and total difference in personalities that shouldn’t work, but it works soooo well, and there was so much potential to explore that!! a true opposites attract we never got to see :(
