THE 89TH OSCARS KILLED IT
As the curtain draws to a close at the 90th Academy Awards and the nominees being announced to the public, the image of the 89th Oscars could still be recalled by Hollywood movie addicts and connoisseurs from around the world. Winners such as La La Land, Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea to gowns from Zac Posen, Gucci and other haute coutures, stepped into the Los Angelesâ red carpet, transmitting a poiseful and glamorous atmosphere both to the fashion and film industry.
This yearâs nominations bring unexpected surprises and great congratulations to the nominees, and also to the sleepless designers who are preparing dresses and gowns for the huge event. The iconic dresses made in the oldies brought a dramatic sensation to the TV audience especially when stars like Audrey Hepburn wore her Givenchy dress on her first Oscars invitation. Even when it happened in the 50s, the idea of a dress filled with beauty could instantly form into a bundle of nostalgic moments that rained the tears of the modern eyes.
With the world full of brand new creativity and different imaginations, designers come up with new ideas and schemes to slay the media by making stunning, jaw-dropping outfits for the famous stars. To do that, they need a potentially maximum experience and inspiration which comes from the fact that the Oscars was already here almost 90 years ago, and some designers like Bob Mackie, Theoni V. Aldredge, Ruth Morley and Arnold Scaasi were always there to influence and awaken modern designers.

Started from 1929, the Oscars have been a classic award show that dragged the feet of movie devotees to the couches of their living room for another level of entertainment. With the famous original sculpture made by George Stanley, the trophy is a MUST to the determined actors who wonât go home until they get their standing ovation. The show was first presented at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and later relocated it to the Dolby Theatre.
Even though 2018 has come, people should not forget the unforgettable red carpet dresses from last yearâs Oscars and should continue to embrace the inspirations given by the hardworking designers. As the red carpet continues, here below are the top dressed actresses from the 89th Academy Awards.
1. HAILEE STEINFELD

The beautiful singer and actress, Steinfeld wore a high-neck detailed floral gown made by Ralph & Russo
2. LAURA DERN

With the shimmering and the glimmering, the famous actress sparkled in a midnight dress made by Rodarte
3. DARBY STANCHFIELD

Stanchfield wore a white elegant Georges Chakra Spring 2017 couture dress with earrings from Neil Laneâs collection
4. CYNTHIA ERIVO

The dress from Paolo Sebastian Fall 2018 couture ball gown brought magnificent floral patterns embroidery which suited the glamorous Monique PeĚan earrings
But warning, there were also dresses that didnât came up to their luxurious expectations.
1. TERRENCE HOWARD

Coming in, the actor wore a jazzy navy-blue printed robe from the sophisticated La Perla
2. SOFIA BOUTELLA

The glitzy feathery dress from the Chanel Spring 2017 couture dress gave little hints of the 70s vibes, but gave the audience a shudder since the dress and the feathers arenât well stitched
3. DAKOTA JOHNSON

The satin metallic high-necked dress by Gucci made the red carpet more dazzling than ever but fans complained the dress needed further adjustment
Though the Oscars brought amazing
but also imperfect gowns
thereâs still more to come in the 90th Academy Awards. Wonder what this year will bring :)
