dear homestuck artists, PLEASE start drawing people with dark skin

ok so like. not to bust down the door of your art studio and start rearranging the color palettes but i had this conversation with a friend and apparently people still hit the “sorry cant draw dark skin” excuse button like it’s the shield against growth and basic decency. and yeah sure, ignorance blah blah whatever. but heres the thing.

you can make a wholeass clown alien with candy corn horns and ridiculous fashion sense but somehow a little MELANIN is where you draw the line? you literally draw trolls grey. like the color of wet cement. just hop off your little golf cart and take a walk into the land of actual skin tones. you sound like the type to buy a whole watermelon then complain an apple is heavy.

use your damn color wheels. spin that shit like you’re on wheel of fortune. pat sajak is begging you to give someone a tan dude. do it for him. do it for me and do it for yourself.

and side note, yeah. not all latino folks are dark skinned. -> hi case in point right here <- and thats still no excuse not to draw people with darker skin, i know, crazy. but unfortunately for you they exist. theyre fucking beautiful man. open your eyes and find out whats fogging your vision.

if you can draw pale anime ghost people a 1000 times you can take the same amount of time and effort to give your girls some actual color. its a flex, put it on your resume. “knows how to draw melanin without panicking”
