Very Informative Book for Porcelain Collectors Everywhere! This is an excellent reference book! It is in black and white with some pictures and a decent price list. The best thing about this book is the broad range of porcelain manufacturers listed and the histories, other references and collecting hints. Items are listed with good descriptions and price list. It also contains marks. It lists individual manufacturers and also gives histories on manufactureing areas. Altogether a very good book and valuable to porcelain collectors! Go to Amazon

Five Stars Love books about pottery. Go to Amazon
nice book I was a student of Richard at SUNY Oswego. Like to keep copies of his books as reference for future art projects. Go to Amazon
This will get you rolling.... This book is excellent. It will teach you not only everything you need to know to get started, but it gives glaze recipies and tips for intermediate types as well. I recommend it. Go to Amazon
love this book this is the potters best friend for sure. It has such good information on glaze mixes and temps for the kiln. Go to Amazon
Great information, wonderful ideas, beautiful pictures. I wanted something that would help me get back into ceramics after a 18 year break. This wonderful book had all the information I needed to get right back into firing, glazing, and being creative with my ceramics. The author does an excellent explanation of problems and solutions for glaze firing "mistakes" and how to create or avoid them. Easy read, wonderful examples, beautiful pictures. Go to Amazon
Good information for the possible dabbler. I'm still not sure we're going to invest in a ceramics kiln, but this was a very interesting book about the craft. Too much biography of famous contemporary ceramic artists (totally uninteresting - these are not names that mean anything to me, so, bleah), but otherwise interesting explanations of different types and techniques. A very worthwhile book - it will probably either galvanize you into investing in the kiln and materials, or turn you away from it, saving your money! Go to Amazon
Zankin and the electric kiln Zankin presents a very thorough explanation of the various aspects of electric kiln firing. I was specially impressed with the section on glazes for different temperatures. Highly recommend this book. Go to Amazon
best so far As a 30 year professional at the potters craft, and a wannabe potter for a decade before that, I am curently grasping the nettle, taking instruction on moving from a gas fired, large production to a smaller based, focused electric fire mellieu. I have expended many dollars, read many texts, thoroughly studied many programs. Go to Amazon
watch for hardback/paper - entirely different books Excellent Starter Book on Glazing Excellent text Outstanding info, but a tedious read Good intro survey technique, CHECK THE EDITION DATE

Good information never goes out of style I liked this book. It has a lot of good information in it that the ceramic teacher tried to tell you but you could never write down. Like many ceramic books I have found this book quite helpful. It is somewhat advanced and perhaps not for the beginner. Go to Amazon
Advanced pottery This book was not quite what I hoped it would be. I was looking for some new techniques to further my pottery experience. This is not the book for that. Go to Amazon

I Love this Book As much as a source book for collectors it tells a wonderful story of the company from beginning to end. A pleasure to read! I couldn't put it down. I ran across a piece of Warwick China and wanted to know more about it as well as collect it. This issue isn't up to date relative to today's prices but is a handy guide when out and about. It is now well worn and with me when I on the hunt. Go to Amazon
Much needed.. Much needed look at Warwick China Company but doesn't always have the information I'm looking for such as the date certain patterns were introduced and discontinued. Desparately needs an index. Go to Amazon
Wonderful book! I needed this book to replace the one that I lost. It arrived on time. Is great for reference. Thanks. Go to Amazon
Warwick China Co. book review I was totally impressed by the Warwick China book by John Rader which I bought from Amazon.com. The entire book is excellent and was exactly what I was hoping for, and then some. This hard-cover book has a great history of the Warwick China Co. in the front, then section by section about the products it produced, complete with lots of high quality photos. Best of all, this book has easy to understand estimated values of each item, which helped me price several Warwick pieces I currently own. This is an invaluable reference book for any Warwick collector or dealer. Go to Amazon

Super source book Originally, this was a pair of portfolios of designs in the Art Nouveau period. Art Nouveau was not just twisty flowers, though some people like to stereotype it into those narrow parameters. This is not a how-to book with cutting patterns. It has only the paintings with suggested scale. On a few pages, motifs overlap each other, so you can't just scan and go: you have to build up your idea of the covered areas. One pictorial arched piece is missing the right third, again a challenge to finish it yourself. Go to Amazon
Interesting Design Book - Goes with Dover Coloring Book I bought this to go along with the Dover Art Nouveau Stained Glass Coloring Book. This is Arnold Lyongrun's portfolio and includes works other than what is in the coloring book. If you buy it for that reason, be sure that you have your pictures oriented the same way. It would be interesting to know a little more about Arnold. Go to Amazon
Ok Lovely designs. Complex patterns for glass makers with an introduction indicating that these are rare and early art nouveau patterns. Go to Amazon
Five Stars Great stained glass patterns! Go to Amazon
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Great work - jammed with ideas for my illustration work Go to Amazon
Five Stars a Go to Amazon
Not really Art Nouveau Though some of the designs are nice, most are way too busy for my taste, and I wouldn't really call them Art Nouveau. Quite a few of them look more like Renaissance style stained glass, and some of them look modern (like the sailboat patterns?). It is in color, though, which is nice. Very complicated - definately not for beginning stained glass crafters. Go to Amazon
Great book! No complaints about this book, except for that certain parts on two images are slightly blurry. Overall, it's worth the money. Go to Amazon

Five Stars Lots of info and great ideas! Go to Amazon
Five Stars nice demonstrations! Go to Amazon
Great for beginners or advanced Fabulous ideas and step by step directions. Go to Amazon
Five Stars Great Ideas!! Go to Amazon
Quite a Variety in the Projects Shown Most mosaic books don't have much variety in the examples they give. That is, they focus on flat surfaces, and often either very large, expensive projects like doing mosaic tables, or silly precut projects like goldfish and birds. Go to Amazon
For the beginning crafter The book covers the very basics. The projects are targeted to the weekend crafter versus the artist. Most of the pieces are quite chunky and have little quality technique with lots of grout holding the pieces together. Could be good for young people's first projects -- definitely not recommended for serious projects. Go to Amazon
Very dissapointed I bought this book because I was interested in Pique Assiette and the only other review said it was very good. Now after buying it I see that every single project has exactly the same instructions! Basically you are reading the same text over and over again and all thats changing is the photos. Take my word, save your money and buy something else. Go to Amazon
A great "how-to" book, great gallery This book does a really great job of teaching you how to create really fun projects. Simple, easy to follow instructions. The gallery section is very cool, with all kinds of great art that will spark new ideas for stuff you can create for your house and garden. Go to Amazon

Five Stars Great go to book for ideas and inspiration. All kinds of styles. Photographs are well done. Go to Amazon
Great Ceramic Figure Artists The artists chosen are interesting and extremely talented. The format of the book is not as useful to me as another I have, but I would still recommend this book to any collectors or ceramic artists. Thank you to E. Garcia for the hard work, and to the artists for their generous sharing. Go to Amazon
Inspirational Found the book full of inspirational as well as good technical information. A catalyst for further exploration! The works were exceptional and sometimes a bit strange. Go to Amazon
Five Stars A terrific book that shows all that is new and innovative in narrative ceramics Go to Amazon
Super book, glad I have it! I purchased this book and LOVE it. It is full of great, clear, close-up color photographs. It features over 40 contemporary ceramic artists. Each artist is profiled in an interview type format so you really get a better feel for their background. I have it in my studio and am trying hard to keep it clean! It has a slick cover so it is actually Go to Amazon

An autobiography masquerading as a book on pottery. Being quite familiar with much of Noel Hume's previous output, I was bowled over by both the size and scope of his most recent endeavor. In addition, the quality of the illustrations and reproduction make this book one of the great values in publishing today. His stories of discovery with his late wife Audrey are tender and illuminating, both in terms of the way he has lived his life and in the way he teaches. Go to Amazon
Very Nice book by Mr. Hume The quality of the book is unsurpassed, beautiful photographs of the pottery items. The book even has two built in ribbon bookmarks, something rarely seen these days. Hume's use of the language has always been amazing to me, he writes very well, and always has. His colorful career is reflected in his writing, and the collection of artifacts from GB. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in Colonial American or British archeology, or pottery from the past centuries. "Bravo" to the Chipstone Foundation and Ivor Noel Hume! Go to Amazon
What a Winner! Buying any reference book can be a gamble. Will the book suit my needs as a collector? Will it enhance my knowledge on the subject matter? And for me, will it help to identify objects in my own collection? For myself, this book touched all of the bases, and then some! "If These Pots Could Talk" is a WINNER! Go to Amazon
Overview Of British Household Pottery One of the better overviews of everyday household pottery I've come across. The author makes it like taking a lively personable tour of pieces from 2000 years ago to the present. Great ideas for potters and a nice presentation for pottery lovers as well Go to Amazon
Five Stars wonderful resource book Go to Amazon
WONDERFUL BOOK! INFORMATIVE! DETAILED! GREAT PHOTOS AND DESCRIPTIONS! When I look for a good book on pottery and Porcelain, I always look for something that will not "lull me to sleep" with drole monotone type sentences, but rather something that presents not only important details, facts and descriptions but does so in a interesting manner. With "If these Pots Could Talk" you get everything! From enjoyable "in the field stories" to truly illuminating facts that ever increases ones appreciation of the "pots and dishes" that so many are hasty to overlook once they hear that they hold no "intristic market value". Go to Amazon
If These Pots Could Talk This is a comprehensive review of British pottery and ceramics written by eminent retired archeologist of Colonial Williamsburg and writer Ivor Noel-Hume. It reviews British ceramics for a period covering the past 2000 years and is particularly interesting to Americans because most of the ceramics recovered in American colonial sites were of British origin or European origin associated with the British colonial trade and were therefore exported to the colonies. Noel-Hume is an excellent and entertaining writer and he make the book interesting with personal accounts of how he and his wife Audrey, also an eminent archeologist, collected or recovered many of the examples shown. I would recomend this book to anyone interested archeaology or pottery/ceramics. Go to Amazon
If These Pots Could Talk This is the largest, heaviest book I own. Really! I thought it would take years to get through, but the pages are quite thick, and it's well-written. A fun book for the pottery enthusiast who is already familiar with the basics, it gives numerous insights into the detective work employed in the course of archeological research. Refreshingly personal on the part of the author. Each chapter is an appitizer that stimulates the reader's interest in another facet of (unfortunately) rarely encountered pottery. The charming cover adds to the book's appeal as a coffee-table selection, but make sure the table has sturdy legs! Go to Amazon

Great guide to Atzompa and Ocotlán ceramics... Born and raised in México and having a deep appreciation of its diverse and rich folk arts traditions, and guided by the reviews, I bought this book. What others say is true- this softbound book is lavishly illustrated and is a wonderful introduction to the contemporary ceramics covered, as well as the six women potters dealt with. Thise with a love of Oaxacan ceramics will likely love this book as well. Go to Amazon
A truly outstanding presentation of Oaxacan folk ceramics Having been to Oaxaca approximately ten times in the past 20 years, I can appreciate the quality and beauty of this fine book. The reasonable price of this "paperback" belies its perfect format/size and its gorgeous photography, text and printing quality. Go to Amazon
Five Stars Wonderful resource and great photos of art. Easy reading with interesting descriptions of the artisans and their processes. Go to Amazon
Stunning photos I know little about Oaxacan ceramics but was immediately drawn to this book by the unbelievably beautiful photos. many of the shots are done outside using natural lighting and it gives the pieces a lifelike feel that I find wonderful. And the creativity of the pieces themselves! A wonderful introduction to one type of Mexican craft. Go to Amazon
Five Stars Wonderful in everyway! Go to Amazon
Oaxaca Great pictures and good details. I have visited with these ladies (artists) and they are truly exceptional in the work and very warm to their guests. Go to Amazon
It could start you collecting pieces Good photographs of the wonderfully imaginative Oaxacan ceramics. Go to Amazon
One of my favourite ceramic books This is a fantastically colourful & inspiring book...and of the many, many ceramic books I own this is definitely in my Top 5. Lots of beautiful & detailed photos and interesting text. The only downside is that there isn't really any "how to" section in the book to show you how to make the wonderful folk art featured. A Beautiful Book

Beautiful and HIstorical Designs I love this book I originally ordered this book from Naturegraph Publishing and have had if for years. I love looking through it repeatedly and have used it for DIY art projects. I recently ordered it for a friend who does quilting and applique, as she was interested in using some Native American designs. She has received it and is highly pleased with it. The paper is heavy and the book is very durable for a paperback. I have considered framing some of the pages and may do it yet. If you are a crafter and like Native American designs, you will find much to inspire you in this book! Go to Amazon
Not what I thought.... I gave this book 3 stars not because it is a bad book......because no where in the description of this book, or in the reviews of it, does it say that this book ONLY contains southwest(and a couple Aztec) native American art. I expected a variety of native American art: Cherokee, Apache, Mohawk, Navaho, etc., not just a 30 page book with 30 pictures of southwest (Pueblo) art. Go to Amazon
Very Pleased This is exactly what I was looking for. I was hesitant about buying this book since I couldn't see inside it. I went on all the reviews by happy customers and bought it. It's exactly what everyone else says it is: Great book! Go to Amazon
Cheesy Such cheesy designs and so few of them Go to Amazon
Kind of interesting. I've scanned a few of the ... Kind of interesting. I've scanned a few of the older designs and was able to transfer them to a beading grid which helped me reproduce them in 11/0 lazy stitch bead work. I will also try it on the loom as well. Go to Amazon
Excellent purchase! This is what I was looking for. The drawings are great and make easy models for tracing these wonderful traditional patterns onto whatever medium you choose. Some I've never seen before but the designs are just great. Wonderful addition to my crafts library. Recommended for anyone! Go to Amazon
Four Stars useful Go to Amazon

Hands of Clay I rented this book for my Art class. The pictures are wonderful. The words aren't clearly explained I feel. Then again this is my first time in a Ceramics class. The book condition was brand new. Go to Amazon
Not what I expected I thought I would be receiving the book pictured above, but instead only the expertise manual came in the mail (which is just a thin spiral bound booklet, not worth the money in my opinion). Go to Amazon

Chemical Toxicity Information is outdated. This books has a lot of recipes and very useful information for potter. The only downside is that the recipes don't have a lot of comments other than maybe the appearance and general observations. The thing that I really wish the recipes would discuss is the toxicity of the materials. For example, a midnight blue glaze recipe calls for 28% Barium Carbonate. Barium Carbonate is highly toxic in its powder form and if it's not encapsulated properly in the recipe with other encapsulating materials, there could be an imbalance in BaO that could leach into food for foodware. It's much safer to use Ferro Frit to source barium. Therefore, I think this book is not really appropriate for somebody who doesn't know about the glaze chemistry or the materials too well. This book is a good reference once you have some more knowledge and understanding of why you would pick the materials and how you would use them. Go to Amazon
A great book for serious ceramicists! This book is a great reference for those who are interested in mixing their own oxides for making custom glazes. Why spend a ridiculous amount of money for pre-made when you can mix up something better? This book is packed with recipes for a wide range of firing temperatures. Go to Amazon
Pottery glaze recipes This book is so informative with regard to making glazes to apply to your pottery before firing. There are formulas for low fire, mid firing and high firing. Many of the formulas have pictures depicting what your results should be. But as all potters know - you should still make those test tiles! Go to Amazon
Comprehensive This book is great for anyone starting out to make their own glazes. It has recipes for all temperature ranges. This book gives you standard recipes for lots of colors and gives you hints on variations. Go to Amazon
Review from an experienced potter I am thrilled with this new book I recently purchased, I have had Emmanual Cooper's other books on glazing and recipes - and found them most informative and the glazes pretty true to explanation Go to Amazon
Glazes, glazes and more glazes! Good little book full of a ton of glaze recipes. Shows the color of the glaze and recipe for. Grouped by colors and cone. Good addition to your glazing recipes. Go to Amazon
Five Stars good book Go to Amazon
No potter should be without this book This is the first book I pick up when searching. I have them all but this is my go to book. try #185. You won't regret it. Go to Amazon
