It was four in the morning, the air was cool and it smelled like rain. Nadia’s eyes were staring out the window in the kitchen, the one over the sink as she held her cup of coffee between her hands. It was unusual for her to be up two hours before she was supposed to but the excitement of everything they had been planning was finally coming to light.
Suddenly arms were around her, her guard had been completely down and she wasn’t ready for someone to actually be awake expect for the men who kept on guard throughout the night to be filling in the morning shift guards. Her eyes glanced down at the arms and she noticed them almost instantly.
Niko Baskin.
It was one of their men. Yes, their men. Since Dmitri was a little out of control, she was the one Roman brought in to take over the position of second in command since her father and her grandfather had been the second in commands to the Malikov Headbosses through the decades. She exhaled, leaning her head back against his shoulder as she tilted her head up towards him.
“You know better than to sneak up on me, Niko.” Her voice was soft as she moved one of her hands from her cup of coffee and up towards the back of his neck as her eyes moved back out towards the window. Of course, her and Niko were a secret because she didn’t need Roman thinking she had any weaknesses.. Plus her late night meetings with Roman always had a little extra something in the middle of them.
Sleep wasn’t something that had ever come easily for Niko Baskin, it also became more difficult knowing the things he did and not being able to do a thing about it. His little sister Anastasia a few months ago met Roman Malikov at one of the family functions and has been paying late night visits to his room ever since. He also liked to be up before everyone else to make sure everything was in the right places but he found himself traveling to the kitchen because he heard a sound. Now he was with his arms wrapped around Nadia as if she was all his. He leaned his head down a little, moving his cheek against hers, exhaling a breath. “Were you with him?”
Nadia put her cup of coffee down onto the counter right next to the sink before turning herself around to face him, her hand moving from the back of his neck to the side of his face as she let her thumb brush against his cheekbone. Her eyes flickering up towards his face. She should have felt guilty but at least he knew about what was going on between her and Roman. Although, it wasn’t anywhere close to being what she had with him. “Why? She didn’t know why the question even came up, neither one of them ever talked about their feelings because they both knew in this house.. Weakness was not acceptable. “Are you jealous?”
Niko closed the little distance between their bodies, pinning her up against the counter as he brought his face a little closer to hers, the two of them so close they were breathing the same air. It wasn’t the reason for his question at least he didn’t think it was. Commitment was something he never put in the cards for himself due to the life he left. He was the man who was sent out to handle the dirty work and at any given time it was possible he wouldn’t come back from one of those trips. He moved his hand to the back of her neck as he let the tip of his nose brush against hers. “Do I have a reason to be?” His voice was so soft that it sent a shiver down her spine.
Her head slightly tilted up to brush her nose against his. Their lips were so close, it made her heart pound a little harder. God, it felt completely stupid how wrapped up in him she actually was. Her eyes were open and resting on his eyes as she moved her other hand up towards the back of his neck, letting her fingers thread through the strands of his hair. “You know there isn’t..” She whispered barely loud enough for him to hear as she let her lips start to move towards him until there was a noise outside the kitchen, the two of them breaking apart as she glanced towards the direction of the archway.
Adrian stood there, staring at the two of them but without saying a word he moved across the kitchen and out the back door, shutting it behind him.
Nadia let out a breath she didn’t even realize she was holding. She knew the younger Malikov child wasn’t typically the kid who went around and spread gossip but she also knew he probably knew a lot more than people realized. She lifted her eyes towards Niko who hadn’t seemed to move his eyes from hers. “Niko.” She tried to warn him, seeing the look in his eyes because she was feeling the same urge as him.
Instead of listening to her like he should have, his hand moved to the back of her head again, bringing her face in closer to his, closing the distance between their lips. Her lips moved back against his as the two of them moved closer to each other, their bodies touching. He pulled back after what felt like a minute, moving his fingers out of the strands of her black hair, dropping his hand to his side. “I should go.” He simply stated, giving her one last look before he walked out of the kitchen.
Her eyes rested on the now empty space in front of her as she tilted her head down to look at her bare feet. Her hand reached back to grab her coffee cup, bringing the cup up towards her lips to drink the rest of what was left in it. She turned back around and rinsed out her cup, putting it in the sink, knowing the workers would be starting the dishwasher after breakfast anyway. She moved away from the sink and out of the kitchen.
Nadia sat in her chair, her eyes resting on her laptop which was on the Chicago News page. The two of them had decided it was time to show the families how easily they could get to them. The first they did was go to Lucia Winters’ apartment and surprise pick her up to show the Italian’s how stupid they were being when it came to thinking no one else could touch them and as for teaching the Irish the same lesson they sent a couple of males to the mechanic shop they owned and picked up one of their men - Aidan Walsh who happened to be a son like figure to Bryan O’Shea and the boyfriend of the Irish princess, Ashlyn O’Shea. Now the two of them were in locked rooms somewhere in the cabin.
An exhale left her lips as she shut the laptop closed. Apparently they were the type to keep things hush hush which honestly surprised Nadia. Her hands ran over her face as she moved her fingers towards her temples. The only downfall for being up so early was the fact with the lack of sleep she had gotten a headache forming right behind her eyeballs.
There was a knock on the door, a dissatisfied grunt left her lips as one of her eyes peeked open. “Come in,” she dropped her hand from her temple, tilting her head a little to face the person who walked inside of her office. It was Cooper Wilson who came walking in. One of their soldiers and the one who was talking to the guard at the prison where the Walsh boy’s father was currently serving out his years for a crime he didn’t commit - a crime the old O’Shea head boss had done. The plan was to get one of the guards to turn the cheek during a riot and let one of their inside men get to the Walsh gentleman.
“Tell me you have good news.” Nadia lifted her gaze up towards him, the male was good looking. He was always in a leather jacket, a little stubble and short brown hair. He was quiet. He kept to himself and it was hard to read him but he was always the one willing to do just about anything with no questions asked.
“Yes. I got in contact with Vikor.. He’s got the camera and the riot can be stage for as soon as today.” His hands were in the pocket of his leather jacket as his eyes didn’t move from the woman behind the desk. Vikor was one of his long time connections and he had been more than willing to use the favor the other male owed to him for anything the Malikov family would need since they were the ones who helped him get off the streets and into a nice little apartment which he would have to get rid of the second the family was ready to up and move to Chicago.
“Okay.. When you can find Victoria. Send her to me so we can get the live feed on the tablet.” Her elbows moved onto the surface of the desk as she let her hands tucked underneath her chin as he gave her a simple nod and moved out of the office. Another exhale left her lips as soon as the door closed as she moved her hand towards the top drawer on the right side of her desk, pulling it out and reaching inside to take out the ibuprofen bottle. She popped the cap and put four of the little pills in the palm of her hand. She brought her hand to her mouth, putting the pills in her mouth as she used the same hand towards the glass of water, bringing it to her lips and taking a long sip of it. Her eyes closing as she swallowed the pills down.

“For now.” She gave a single nod in response, pressing her lips together but smiling nonetheless as her eyes skated over him in almost uncontrollable way. She hadn’t seen him in years and somehow her body still reacted to the sight of him. She could feel her heart pounding away in her chest though she chose to ignore it. Try to anyway. It was hard to just throw him out of her mind, no one ever had really compared. From their most vulnerable moments with each other to the times they seemed to drive each other completely mad. There was one thing she could truly say about their relationship, which was that it made her feel absolutely alive. “You still have the same look.” She said, meeting his gaze. “Hangover look.” Her smile grew a bit shaking her head slightly. “I guess some things never really change.”
Zac had probably been one of the only guys to have ever truly settled down. Their relationship may have been something of a crazy ride but the two of them had completed each other in a way others would say was true love. When she left, it broke him. He let himself slip into the reputation all the boys had started for themselves and he didn’t really care to change it. No one would ever be as good at her and everyone who knew about their relationship knew it too. Although, there had been plenty of women who tried and wanted to be the new Sloane. His hands moved into his pockets because he knew if he didn’t put his hands somewhere they would reach out to touch her and he wasn’t really sure how to explain how he had been trying to mend the broken pieces she blew apart when she left. He chuckled lightly at her words, nodding her head. “Yeah I have to shamefully admit I am very hungover and came for a coffee cure.”

His head turned over towards the girl when Ellie had made her little comment. The girl wearing his shirt, which he couldn’t quite remember the name of now. She had known his pretty well though, since she had been moaning it all night, that much he could remember. “Aw it’s your moms birthday?” The girl said a little too eagerly. Heath stared at her with a blank expression for a couple more seconds. She was hot and her long legs made him remember why he had brought her back here in the first place because it definitely wasn’t her personality. “You need to go.” He said bluntly, causing her to seem like she wanted to crawl into a hole, not that he noticed because his attention returned back to Ellie. “Go by yourself. She’ll be happier if you show up without me.” He said as he walked into the kitchen.
Ellie made a slight face when the girl commented on how it was his mother’s birthday. She could feel herself internally cringing because she knew exactly what was going to come out of Heath’s mouth next. It was as if it was right on cue, his sharp words hitting the girl and the look on the girl’s face.. Well, Ellie actually felt bad for her but anyone who decided to get into bed with any of the boys should have seen stuff like this coming. None of the boys had been the type to settle down and it wasn’t something she cared to judge because whatever their life and all. Her head turned back towards him before grabbing his arm gently, tilting her head so he would have to look at her. “Stop it,” she stated. “Go get dressed. She needs to see her son. You may think they all hate you but they don’t, Heath. Everyone is mourning and that’s completely normal but you all are letting it separate you instead of bringing you closer. This is the best step to take. Please.... For me?” She raised an eyebrow. “For..” His name was stuck in her throat but she knew Heath would get it. “He wouldn’t want it like this..”

“No, quite frankly I’m a little offended that you think that’s what I’m all about.” The sarcasm wasn’t laid on thick like it normally was, but it was still there nonetheless. His reputation would probably make the little bet a little more challenging on his end but that was fine by him. Working a little harder wasn’t a problem, as long as by the end of it he had gotten her undressed than what would there be to complain about? “I’m not so bad once you get to know me.” He offered another smile, knowing how full of shit he was. Plenty of girls had tried to make that true, wanting so desperately to claim that they had tamed what seemed to be untamable but Cain never let in. He just proved to be the guy that everyone thought he was and that was fine by him.
Casey let her eyes rest on his face for a second, trying to read into his statement. She never had much luck when it came to men and she had always been the kind of girl who wore her heart on her sleeve. Her eyes glanced over to look at Lux who seemed more than occupied with her own bad boy, her gaze turned back to Cain. She couldn’t deny he wasn’t attractive and even if this ended up being one of those things where he was only using her. She’d be able to shake it off, wouldn’t she? She gestured to the empty stool before pushing the plate of fries in between them, her eyes lifting up towards his face. “If you aren’t so bad once people get to know you.. Tell me about you,” she said simply, her elbow resting on the surface of the bar and her hand moving to rest on the palm of her hand.

“Is it weird?” He questioned, though rather rhetorically as he narrowed his eyes for a second playfully. Slowly but surely the group had grown into what it was in present day and each one had their own kind reputation but as a whole, they all knew what they were known for, not that they cared. It was all fun and games for them, what was the harm in that? “Don’t go looking for trouble and nothing will be said then.” He didn’t mean for it to come out challenging the way it had, almost like he was tempting her but he couldn’t help the way things rolled off his tongue at this point. It wasn’t like he was serious, about telling Cain about seeing her anyway. When she turned her head away, his eyes dipped down shamelessly. It was a a difficult thing for a guy like him not to notice her curves and the way her skin seemed to shimmer. He could just lean down and kiss down her neck. But he didn’t, of course, smiling when she turned back to look at him nodding his head slowly. “One of the guys birthday or something.” He shrugged, not caring so much. “I’m heading out soon.”
“Just a bit. Sometimes I wonder if you all morphed into the same person.” Her lips curled into a playful smile. Jett was always someone she admired from afar. Mostly because he was completely attractive and he knew it. Her eyebrow slightly arched up at his words before a chuckle left her lips. “It’s like you don’t know the Madden siblings, looking for trouble is our middle names.” She leaned her hip up against the bar as she held her drink in her hand, bringing it up to her lips and tipping her head back to drink down the rest of the liquor that was in it. She put the empty glass on the surface of the bar as she slid herself only an inch closer to him. “Dance with me before you go,” it wasn’t a question. “You would have more fun with me than the guys and you know it.”

With a huge smile on her face, a small chuckle passing her lips Nova shook her head as he came into view. “You just want me to boost your ego and it’s already big enough.” She teased, tilting her head as she looked at him. “You look handsome.” She gave him another smile but couldn’t help to feel odd knowing that he would be going on a date. It was almost a foreign concept to see any of the boys go on a date since most of the girls were happy to just be taken back to their place within an hour of meeting any of them. Nova was definitely not that kind of girl but maybe that’s why she was able to be friends with Caleb and maybe because she simply didn’t compare to the victoria secret models they pulled every night. “So who is the girl?”
Caleb nodded his head as he tugged at the end of his sleeves. “Yeah, kind of.” He shrugged as he lifted his head up towards her. “Thanks.” He let a little smile curl his lips as he looked down at his feet before looking back up at her. The boys had made bets to see who could do it better and this girl apparently had to have a date first which still was uncomfortable to him. He glided his tongue along his lower lip as he thought of the best way to answer her question. Just some random girl. He wanted to say but instead he pressed his lips together. “Her name’s Nikki. I met her at a party the other day and she had to run.. I waned to see her again so.. hence the date.” The word was bitter on his tongue, his eyes lifted up towards her. “You think this works with the outfit or is it too much?”

Shifting through the different selections she could use from, she bit her bottom lip as she concentrated on the names, that was until someone decided to interrupt that concentration. Looking at Dominic she took a deep breath, exhaling through her nose before forcing an oh-so-obvious smile on her lips. “Who are you again?” She said sarcastically before looking at the names she had been on before, deciding to select at random now just to be able to step away. She knew all about Dominic and the kind of reputation those around him had. The last thing she would be was another notch on his bedpost. Pressing the button to select the song she gave him another look before walking away to go up to the bar.
Dominic put his hand to his chest dramatically, leaning his head back a little. “You know how to hit a guy in the weak spot.” He joked, tilting his head to look at her, his eyes lifting up to look past her for a second to see Cain hitting on some girl at the bar. He moved his eyes to look at her, noticing she had started to walk away from him. He exhaled as he turned his head over to the pool table. He walked over towards the bar, leaning against it as he moved his hand onto the surface of the bar. “Look.. Let’s make a deal.”

Zac didn’t know why he agreed to a morning shift, trying to get the girl out of his apartment this morning so he could actually leave had been more difficult than he thought it would be. Another girl wanting to stay and have breakfast, talk about the potential of a relationship which wasn’t something Zac had been interested in period. He simply had to nod his way through a conversation and tell her he had to work and he’d give a call which seemed like something most girls believed. He pushed open the door, moving his hands to the bridge of his nose to help the pounding in his head. He lifted his eyes after dropping his hand to see Sloane standing in front of him. It had made his chest clench a bit but the expression on his face change. “Sloane Lewis,” he huffed a little. “Back in Colorado?”
Classes were starting up again and Sloane barely felt like she had settled into her new apartment. She insisted on wanting to move back into her childhood home but her father denied her. It was all out of love though, saying he didn’t want her to make her whole life revolve around him, he hadn’t even wanted her to move back to Colorado but here she was. So she accepted and got her own place, spent the last two weeks jumping between the home and her apartment. The only person she had told she was coming back to, was Sophie and that was the person she was trying to find amongst the people since they had made plans to meet up in the small cafe just across the street from the college. So when her gaze snapped up from the chime the door made any time someone walked in her stomach twisted up at the sight of Zac. She thought of pretending like she hadn’t seen him but they locked eyes before she could look away and achieve it so instead she decided to put on a brave face. “As I live in breathe, Zac Livingston, awake before noon.” She teased. @pocketfulof1x1

Nathaniel was on his way to the shop since it was his turn to work a shift and the way Spencer sounded on the phone, it seemed like someone made an unexpected visit. He slid his hands into his pockets as his eyes lifted up to look ahead of him. God, it was fucking cold. He heard someone yelling on the phone and turned his head, noticing the girl he had in his bed a few weeks ago. He wasn’t really planning on walking over to see if she was alright but it would have been more awkward if he just walked past her without saying anything. He tilted his head a little, popping it right next to her. “You alright?”
The intense conversation had heated Lilith up so much, that she was having a hard time controlling the volume she was replying at. Once upon a time she didn’t care about how she looked to others, since she was usually considered a hot mess but since she had moved to town, she had tried to be different. It was difficult to say the least and most of the time the irresponsible person she was always tried to crawl back to life. “No, I’m not going to tell you where I am!” She shouted once again, even the voice on the other end could probably be heard from anyone close enough. Lilith only said a couple more things before hanging up the call before it was meant to end and then she screamed, thinking no one was around to hear it in that moment although she hadn’t been paying attention to her surroundings that well. @pocketfulof1x1

It took Jett a second and a double-take to realize that it was Sophie who had come up to stand beside him at the bar. The guys weren’t around for this outing, centered more around the birthday of one of the new freshman that had just joined the frat house. Turning his body so he was facing her, his brows furrowed looking slightly insulted by the accusation. “Do you think I’m some sort of buzzkill?” He feigned offense, a smirk forming as he gave a small nod in thanks to the bartender who set his drink down. After all, he had been known to do things he definitely shouldn’t, who was he to judge? He could imagine Cain would blow a lid if he found out but he was fine keeping this secret, wasn’t like they all didn’t do that and worse. “Who’d you come with?”
Sophie leaned against the bar with her hip as she moved her drink to her lips again, taking another sip as a smile crept along her lips. “All four of you have this weird bond.” She teased. “You never know which one of you could be a snitch to big brother.” She couldn’t deny she never thought about it. Jett was her type and it would pretty much make Cain blow his lid a million times over which seemed like a bit of a fun idea. She turned her head to look back at some of her friends before turning her head to look back at him. “A couple people. How about you? Come with your other crew?”

“Probably making bets with each other on who can get laid first.” Her eyes were glued to the schedule book. “If you think you made an appointment, I don’t have your name down in the book.” Spencer muttered as she tried to figure out why any of the boys would leave when there would be someone coming in for a tat. She lifted her head up at his next question, shutting the book and turning around to look at him. “I work here. Who the hell are you to talk to someone like that?”
“Uh, where the hell are the guys?” Lincoln said when he initially walked into the shop. It was empty, mostly besides the brunette standing there. He wasn’t sure who she was either, Jett hardly ever clued him in on who he was hiring and since he lived above the shop he thought maybe this girl was some flavor of the week, who was he kidding he knew his brother, probably flavor of the day, poking her nose where it didn’t belong. He only dealt with the finances for the most part, making sure his money wasn’t going down the drain which wasn’t a problem considering the large list of cliental the boys had with their reputation. The amount of chicks that would come in to get a piece just to give an hour of their attention was ridiculous. “And who the hell are you?” Maybe he should’ve given a little less attitude but Lincoln had a temper he couldn’t shake recently. @pocketfulof1x1

“You haven’t even heard what I have to offer though, seems a little rude if you ask me.” Cain said, giving her a smile with a quick shrug of his shoulders. He had to get his foot in the door somehow and while Dominic was busying himself with Lux, he noticed that his bet was sitting all alone. It had been made beforehand when him and Gavin had spotted her while he said that she was impossible to go anywhere with and Cain remarked that he just didn’t have what it took to get sweet talk her. Then the two started amping each other up with some money being thrown into it and Cain was all about making money in frowned upon ways, this was no exception. Plus, she was hot so he had no problem getting her in bed.
“You weren’t coming over here to offer me the chance of a life time to end up a notch on your bed post?” Her head slightly tilted at him as she moved the fry into her mouth before glancing to look at Lux. Lux had told her all about the tattoo boys and there were a few broken hearted girls who loved to spill their hearts out to a bartender so there were a ton of stories she had heard about all four of the boys. Plus even though she was the kind of girl who stayed up at night and read the romance novels. Although, her personal experience had been quite the opposite and her father was the perfect example of why a girl shouldn’t fall for a man’s words.

Ellie exhaled as she looked at her phone, the fact he wasn’t responding only made matters worse. Fine, I’ll go pull your sorry ass out of bed. Honestly, losing Hunter was still taking a toll on her. He was the other half of her and the fact he was no longer around to spark up her life had been harder to deal with as of lately which was why she buried her time into helping his family through the trauma. Including the major pain in her ass called Heath. She walked up to the door and knocked, her eyes lifting up to look at him when he opened the door. He was shirtless which made it difficult to keep her eyes on his face. She reached out and put her hand against his chest, pushing herself inside. “And I told you I wasn’t taking no for an answer.” She huffed, turning her gaze towards the girl wearing his shirt at his bedroom door. “Classy,” she muttered. “Get dressed and come to see your mother on her birthday.”
There was nothing that Heath wanted to do less than have to see his parents and entertain the idea that they could all sit around the table and pretend to enjoy each other’s company. Ever since Hunter’s death and even before that their relationship was on the rocks but afterwards it plummeted. They blamed him and the tension was always thick in the air. He had successfully avoided being dragged to any family events during the holidays but his mothers birthday was here and leading up to the day Ellie had been telling him he had to go while he ignored it every time. So when he blinked his eyes open, reaching for his phone on the nightstand as he got some texts, he looked at them only to see the one from Ellie saying she was on her way. “Shit.” He muttered, sitting up and giving the naked girl asleep in his bed a glance. He went to look at when the text had been sent to him but when there were knocks at the door he knew only muttered some more words under his breath as he got up, nudging the girl awake as he did. Slipping on some boxer briefs he walked out to open the door. “I told you I wasn’t going.” He said, turning away from the door. @pocketfulof1x1

Sophie slipped out of her house and made her way down to the club to meet up with some friends. She was never the kind of girl who followed the rules and it drove her parents nuts that she didn’t go straight to school after she graduated but she wanted to have fun more than anything which is what brought her into this club, a fake ID in hand and ready to dance the night away. She had a few drinks and was dancing with some guy she met on the dance floor. She moved up to the bar after a few songs and leaned up against it, ordering herself a drink. She turned her head when she notice Jett only a few inches from her. “You aren’t going to tell on me.. Are you, Jett?” @coloradomusing

Casey turned her head to look over at Lux who got an actually attractive man leaning against the juke box for her. An exhale left her lips as she turned her head to look over at her empty space in front of her, knowing it could be a while for Lux to come back unless the guy some how gets lucky which she was hardly doubting at the moment. The plate of fries and cocktail she ordered was placed in front of her when she could feel a presence in her space, she picked up a fry and turned her head over towards him. “Save it. I’m not interested.” @coloradomusing

Dominic was sitting at the bar, waiting for the guys to actually get there. His head turned when he noticed a familiar figure at the jukebox. He brought the shot glass up to his lips, tilting his head back to take in all the liquor in one swift motion. He moved off the stool and walked over to the jukebox. He moved and leaned up right against it so she would have to look at him, his finger lifting up to point at her. “Aren’t you Lux St. James? One of the most hardest girls to get in town?” He teased, a boyish grin coming along his lips. @coloradomusing
