Hey, guys!
Those of you in the Austin area, come check out the debut of Technomancy. It's a small show that I was kindly invited to install at Quack's 43rd St. Bakery, where I sling pastries and coffee by night!
Technomancy is a speculative fic series of full-color narrative illustrations, interspersed with traditionally inked original spots. It follows several explorers in a world where ancient high-tech artifacts of a forgotten age are regarded as magical relics. It's about unbridled power, discovery, and people not having a clue what they're doing--y'know, major themes of day-to-day life.
(And for all of you who're too farfaraway to stop on through, never fear. I'll be making a follow-up post with a better glimpse of each piece...)

The New South Festival for Literary Arts and Cartooning is debuting this year, and I’m pretty honored to have been chosen to exhibit. Even if this is the first show, there are so many excellent featured guests, like Inez Estrada, Jim Rugg, Helen Jo, and more. If you’re in Austin and love comics, you’d be pretty crazy to pass this up. (Also, it’s free? Also, it’s dog-friendly? Come on. You have no excuses left.)
As for yours truly, I’ll have a few old favorites out, such as Wärgänn, a reprint of Yokai, You’re Fired, as well as my latest labor of love, The Haycart: an anthology that I printed as my thesis, clocking in at around 60 pages.
(Seriously, though: come for the whatnot. It’s beyond compare.)

Rough pencils for a new illumastration in the works! Really, I just wanted an excuse to draw Ortakoy Mosque in Istanbul, and a hijab-clad cyclist. Together. Forever.

Ink warmup from the other day. Crowbars and people-shooting caps make for a winning combination.

ORCSONAAAA. Here's my own gronch-lopping version, finally (and eye-wateringly) colored. Because I'm tired of seeing Witchsonas, I've gotta confess, and also because James Stokoe is fuckin' rad.
Hide yer sliceables, folks.

And a bonus: saw this dreadful thing making its rounds on the webbernets, and decided it needed a few changes. Suffice it to say: fixed.

So this is a little belated, but here is the zine that I printed up for STAPLE! Pretty sure I was a woman possessed that morning, trying to get it all together in time, but I'm so glad I made it. Yokai You're Fired is a series of yonkoma strips about Japanese ghosts and monsters holding part-time jobs and being really inept at them. (Or, unsettlingly, a little too good at them.)
Got a lot of rad swaps for this humble mini-comic set, for which I am eternally grateful. As I'd said yesterday, there are some real good folks that bring their A-game to that con. Be sure to go if you're in Austin next year!

Oh my goodness, what a sweetie jamiekinosian is in person. And those words were taken right out of my mouth: STAPLE! was a blasty-blast. I'm real glad that I went, 'cause I learned so much about the local scene here in Austin, met some great people, and also took home a pretty sweet stash of comics myself. For sure, I plan on tabling properly next year, rather than passing out hastily printed zines.

Aaaaaaa! Staple is the best damn comic con in Texas. It has such a great atmosphere I love it so much.  Saturday was such chaos. I got in from Houston that morning, did the Hire this Woman panel, and nonstop made sales. I was so exhausted by the end of the day there was no way I was going to make it to the after party. I went out to dinner with bigbigtruck a couple of times and met korybing who is way awesome. On Saturday we went out for TexMex at Trudy’s and Sunday I had legit ramen for the first time at ramentatsuya. My gang enjoyed the hell out of the ramen. Just about everyone got the veggie ramen and mouthgasmed together. I ALSO GOT TO MEET caseyboots IN person!! Wish I could have spent more time with her but I had to stick behind my table. I give her my Doctor Pulaski watercolor sketch card and I’m so glad it’s going to a good home.  I got so many nice goods just from people wanting to trade! caity-mayhem, kevinchinart, pocketofnonsense, sasharjones, & anissaart.  The trio tabling smgoetter, bisthebox, & redangusart was damn exciting. Their stuff was a highlight of the show for both Robert and I. I can’t wait to see more of what they create.  My only regret is I wish I had the energy for after parties and had the chance to properly talk to jessfink instead of just grabbing a book and stickers right quick and running back to my table. Eh, whatcha gonna do.  Next year I plan on staying in Austin on the Friday and Monday around Staple! It’s way too important!

Decided to make my gronch-loppin' Orcsona yesterday, as a break from squidinking other stuff. Hoping to slap some color on this in the near future.

Still etch-a-sketchy, but it's a piece I've been twiddling with on-and-off for awhile. It's gonna be about witches. Bayou-dwelling witches. In other words: the very best kind.

The place I was gonna get dinner inexplicably closed 20 minutes early tonight, so I figured it was a fitting time to trot out this warmup sketch from a few months back.
The shirt is my favorite. I like to think it says "Go for it" on the back.
