Starter Character Questions

How did your character first meet their initial Pokemon? Is that Pokemon still part of their primary team? If not, are they retired or have they gone separate ways?

Who is your character’s primary current Pokemon? If not their first Pokemon, how did they meet?

Does your character have a full team of Pokemon, or just travel with one or two companions? If they have a team—who is on their team?

Has your character ever struggled with a Pokemon on their team or that they’ve traveled with? What is their relationship like now with that Pokemon? Did they overcome the difficulties, or are they still at odds?

What is your character’s profession? If they are not a battler now, did they ever take a gym challenge as a younger person?

What region is your character currently in? Is this their home region? If not, how did they come to be in that region?

How many regions has your character been to? If they’ve never left their home region—would they consider traveling beyond? Do they have a region they want to visit?

Family and Home Questions

What was your character’s family situation like growing up? What were their caretakers’ professions? Did they have any family Pokemon, or a caretaker’s Pokemon that was present in their lives?

Was your character encouraged to take on a gym challenge as a child? Was it common within your character’s family to do so?

Did your character ever get a Pokemon from a Pokemon professor? Or do they have one on their team that is from or related to their family?

Does your character still have contact with their family? What town and region are they from? Do they ever go home to visit? Is there anything they’re nostalgic about for from home?

Is there any special food from home your character misses? Or can they make it?

Travel Questions

Does your character enjoy traveling and adventure? Whether within a singular region or to other regions.

Is your character more likely to stay in a Pokemon Center while on the go, or are they willing to camp in the wilderness?  

Is your character more likely to travel by foot, bike, or Pokemon when they’re out in the field?

How prepared would your character be if they were caught outside and forced to rough it overnight?

Random Encounters

The world is yours to explore...

The Random Encounter system is one that you can turn on or off as you please on your Pocket Monsters Starfall blog. So, please make sure to have a space to indicate whether or not it is on. The Random Encounter system is not for anon users or other members, but to get encounters from this centralized blog. These will include running into Pokemon, weather events, et cetra. Things to act as prompts for your experience roleplaying and further storytelling on your blog. It is never a requirement to respond to them or take them up on the hook--but if you have it on, you will randomly get encounters and prompts. While you are allowed to catch or acquire Pokemon as you see fit--this specific feature of the group is meant to allow for that feature of older games and surprises.

Building Your Pocket Monsters Starfall Blog

Designing your Pocket Monsters Starfall Blog

The majority of how you'd like to present and set up your Pocket Monsters Starfall blog is up to you! However, there are a few things are strong recommendations. It is recommended you have a clean blog theme that is not too cluttered, with your asks clearly avaliable, as well as potential space to list things like current character location(s), and whether or not random encounters are on (there will be a seperate post about the random encounter system in Starfall). You are urged to have a page laying out your character or characters, and where they are currently located in the world. This way other characters can know if you can potentially cross paths, or if they're sending postcards, et cetra. Part of the travel experience will be mapping out (not literally) your character's movement around the world. How much you want to share about your character on the character page is up to you; however, a short sentence or two is highly recommended. As well, listing any current Pokemon they have on their person/who are travelling with them actively is strongly suggested. It is also advisable to have a page dedicated to or off-site page (like a Google Spreadsheet) for a Pokemon PC Box--where you list what Pokemon your character has avaliable beyond those who might be on-person.

What to Expect from Pocket Monsters Starfall?

What should you expect from Pocket Monsters Starfall?

As a small, primarily character focused group--Pocket Monsters Starfall is less on telling the story of a place or a world, and more on helping you explore your characters and their stories how you want to. What does this mean? This means that the world of Pocket Monsters Starfall is not a specially created Pokemon region, but the regions as they are depicted in the video games. So you can have your characters travel all around the Pokemon world from Kanto to Kalos to Sinnoh and back. This allows you to easily use the pre-existing backdrops of those places to explore your character against. Are they out in Sinnoh climbing the icy mountains, or camping in Galar's lush wild fields? You can also take a rest from doing any active storytelling, and have fun with character memes--draw your characters in various outfits and such. The group itself will try to share memes here and there, and may even try to concoct a few specific to the group. As a Pokemon roleplay group--of course the Pokemon themselves are important as well! How many you want your characters to have with them, how many they have met/will meet et cetra--will also be central to the group. There will be events specific to battling, others like a safari day to run into rare and new Pokemon for teams, and even rare Starfall Days where after a starshower there will be Gigantamax Raids for characters to partake in. While you are allowed to go on the honours system and agree to certain rules for fights or battles--larger battle days and so on will be run over on Pokemon Showdown to make for fun and interesting outcomes (all Pokemon levels will be flattened to 50 or 100 depending). Winning isn't everything, keep your character and their team true to the story you want to tell for them. There's no need to metabuild your teams for this. These are just for flavour and storytelling.

What is Pocket Monster Starfall?

Howdy and greetings!

Welcome to Pocket Monsters Starfall, a small lite roleplay circle for Pokemon roleplayers. Starfall is a travelogue based group with a focus on character building, lite roleplaying, drawing, et cetra. It is very inspired by past Pokemon OCT group tumblr circles. Pocket Monsters Starfall as a lite roleplay group allows for members to explore their characters how they want. If you'd prefer to focus on answering questions, drawing your OC, and writing out adventures on your own--that's cool! If you want to roleplay with another member and grow your character that way? Neat! There will be low moderation of the group overall as a whole. It is meant to be a friend of friends sort of group where it is expected people will behave like mature adults and know how to conduct themselves.
