Mysteries, clothed in deft music weavings.
WHERE IS PODCASTING HEADED? Starlee Kine gives us her version on The Mystery Show.Â
I miss traveling. Starlee takes me with her, proving the wandererâs theory of âgo there and shit will happen.â I like you in my buds, Starlee. Nicely done! (And a great musical touch!!!)

Am fascinated by the twinges & cringes in monetizing podcasts. These shows make hip by cuddling me with their âhonesty.â They talk like my friends, swear like my friends, feel like my friends. I hear more from them than I do from my friends. We can talk about anything together.*
So me and my pod-friends, these pod-cats, in order to hang out together, agree to the sell. Hey, saddle up the money pony! Funny how easily we all take to it. They, the irreverent, the jokers get suddenly serious because they know that the sponsors wonât handle it. Steve Metcalf (bless him) in his Toronto hangover today âshaving with a spring in his stepâ with his Harryâs razor. And Iâm ready to ride that pony, too, thankful to Audible and Harryâs and Square Space for wanting me so much that they pay to deliver me my buddies.
Steve: razors + springy steps = trouble
The Gistâs Mike Pesca, in some ways, is a little more savvy using music to clarify the Ad portion of his content. Funny really, because he otherwise rarely signals the difference between sincerity and pesca-rity.
*Okay, they talk, I listen.

At about 12Min30sec very nice reading by Chandrika Kaul, Lecturer in Modern History at the University of St Andrews, of Rabindranath Tagoreâs poem âThe Golden Boatâ in Bengali from the BBC Radio 4 Podcast âIn Our Time With Melvyn Braggâ
IOT is almost always excellent, now even better with the extra time that they add on to the podcast versions (compared to the broadcast version on Radio 4).

Hey Lexicon Valley! Love you guys, BUT: you prefixed confident with âoverâ re: the political incorrectness of gender in language (stewardess, waitress, actress, etc...) in your Sex Workers Edition. As a speaker of Chinese and German, I think your self-righteous guffaws missed their target. Itâs easy for people to be sexist. Harder for a language. In spoken Mandarin, not only is it impossible to distinguish waiter from waitress (both: æćĄć) but even âheâ from âshe,â both pronounced tÄ. That doesnât make Chinese society less sexist. And in German, you canât hardly birth a burp without first deciding pink or blue.
As difficult as this makes it for us to learn German... I like it! It provides more information quickly within a sentence. We celebrate the infinite Inuit words for snow but decry gender info?! (Oh... youâre a man? I hadnât noticed.)Â
Call sexist people sexist. Not words!

WNYC: New Name New Tech City?
Love the WNYC podcasts, sure, #NewTechCity, too. Theyâre chasing a new name. I suggested âLife Bytesâ and âNow 101 (01010101)âł but they want the tech without the tech. Good luck! But keep on putting out great podcasts.
