What would a cross between a Zoroark and Thievul be called?
Hello!
The crossbreed between a Unovan Zoroark mother and a Thievul father is called the Banded breed! The banded markings resemble the mask and gloves markings that Thievuls have! They are mostly a captivity breed and are mostly bred by professors to study genetics and disease prevention (this is done humanely! Don't worry!) (ooc/// my sister came up with the name for this! She even specified that the markings would resemble gloves and a mask!)
The crossbreed between a Hisuian Zoroark mother and a Thievul father is called the Rogue breed! This is bred only in captivity and is done for conservation efforts! Pretty much all breeds that require a hisuian variant parent are for conservation efforts! They are called the Rogue breed because they have shown a preference for being alone and only being seen with others during mating season and until their pups are old enough to live on their own.
The crossbreed between a Thievul mother and a Unovan Zoroark father is called the Masquerade breed! This is a captivity contest breed! They are called the Masquerade breed because their masks have unique patterns that often resemble the patterns found on masquerade masks.
The crossbreed between a Thievul mother and a Hisuian Zoroark father is called the grave robber breed and is, once again, a captivity breed for conservation purposes. They are called the Grave Robber breed as, even in captivity, they prefer their food to be dead and to eat the meat off of dead corpses instead of hunting their food instead. There is a reason why conservation efforts prefer to breed Rogue breed Zoroas and Zoroarks instead of Grave Robber Nickits and Thievuls.

hi! So, quick question but how do you convince a Pokémon to not eat their fallen plates? (Mudbray whose parents are a ram breed mudsdale and a rhyhorn)
-@tokensofmyconfections
Hello!
It is actually a good idea to let your Mudbray eat it's fallen plates! They contain lots of nutrients and protein! This is something they would do in the wild so don't worry! Many pokemon that shed something during their life cycle will eat it. This is completely normal and healthy.

Curious since my Mudsdale, Queeniebell, laid eggs, and the only male on my farm is a rhyhorn i'm taking care of for my uncle... What are the babies going to look like?
1st off: Queeniebell is such a cute name for a Mudsdale
2nd off: Have fun explaining this to your uncle, lol
Pokemon Crossbreeds: Highlander
(Name and Crossbreed by @pokemon-variants-pokedex )
Highlander is the name for Mudbray/Mudsdale with fathers who are members of the Rhyhorn line. They were first discovered in the wild, and while counted as a battle breed for their loyalty and strength, they can go a while without battles. The breed is loved by farmers for their strength and indurance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mudbray
Tumblr media
Highlander Mudbray gain a more grayish fur tone and rugged body. While they're usually as mellow as standard mudbray, they can be more dangerous because they charge anytime they sense danger. Like stated before, they're a lot stronger than standard mudbray, so people love them for battling and physical labor. They eat mud, but they can also eat rocks.
Mudsdale
Tumblr media
Not all Highlander Mudsdale have plates, but most do.Highlander Mudsadale gain the traits of both Rhydon and Ryhperior, most notably being their horn and plates. Their carapace helps with their already high defense, making them great for battles. Like Highlander Mudbray, they eat mud and rocks, but they are able to shoot the rocks out like Rhyperior can.
//My designs cam be used by anyone if you credit me for the original design!

What's the rhyhorn rapidash crossbreed called? What's it main job when it was being breed?
Hello!
The breed that is born to a Rhyhorn father and a Kantonian Rapidash mother is called the Destrier breed. This breed is most bred for combat.
The opposite, a Kantonian Rapidash father and a Rhyhorn mother, is called a Flash breed. This breed is most bred for contests and races.
Then you have the Galarian breeds, or those born to a Galarian Rapidash father or mother.
The Galarian version of Destrier is the Appaloosa breed. They are mostly bred for battle contests.
The Galarian version of the Flash breed is the Waterfall breed. They're bred for show contests.
While most of these breeds are for battling, contests, or races they can be used for other tasks just keep in mind that they may not like it and would require more training than a breed that was specifically made for the task. If they don't like it, please DO NOT force them to do it!

asking out of curiosity, but how common would each of these variants be?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Link was being dumb, sorry…)
Hello!
The Purebred (Kantonian breed in this case) is the most common of this list and is found anywhere Rapidash and Ponyta is found (except for Galar where the Galarian breed is found instead).
The Vog is the least common, only being found in captivity. The only region where Wooloo and Dubwool are native alongside Ponyta and Rapidash is Galar. The Vog breed is born to a Kantonian mother, not a Galarian one.
Ion Storm isn't common, but it's not rare either. Neither of the parent pokemon are commonly found together in the wild but they are seen together occasionally.
Hanabi is a "spring" father exclusive and so the rarity changes depending on what region your in. In some regions, a sawsbuck/deerling's form changes depending on the time of year. In other regions, it depends on where it's found.
The Pahoehoe is common-ish? Mudsdales and Mudbrays are not typically found in the same environment in a region but have been known to mingle.
The Destrier breed is the second most common breed on this list. In some places, the Destrier breed may even be more common than the standard breed!

Hey, I'm pretty interested in contests, and have noticed a lot of interesting Pokemon while watching them! What exactly are some of the common contest breeds?
(///ooc: I looked through the ENTIRE national dex MULTIPLE TIMES for this. Why? Because I wanted to.)
Hello! There are many different types of contests; beauty pageant style contests, performance based contests, battle contests, I've even seen a sub-type of beauty pageant contests that focus on pokemon that are often considered "too ugly" for regular beauty pageants like Trubbish and Garbodor. I have divided this into different parts. Note: Pretty much every pokemon has an official "contest" breed and official "battle" breed.
First is a list of the top 5 most popular beauty pageant contest pokemon with the three most popular contest breeds of each pokemon.
Pikachu. The three most popular contest breeds are the cosplay breed (obviously), the long tail breed (dedenne father), and the bushy tail breed (pachirisu father)
Eevee and the Eevee-lutions. The most popular contests breeds are the snow coat breed (alolan vulpix or ninetales father), the boots breed (nickit or thievul father), and the blue coat breed (alolan meowth or persian father).
Gardevoir. The three most popular contest breeds are the funeral breed (gothita, gothorita, or gothitelle father), the dolly breed (shuppet or banette father), and the ice cream breed (milcery or alcremie father)
Altaria. The three most popular contest breeds are dancer breed (oricorio father), blood cloud breed (rufflet or braviary father), and the Sylph breed (info can be found here)
Milotic. The three most popular contest breeds are the mosaic breed (Galarian Slowpoke, Slowbro, or Slowking father), tropical breed (horsea, seadra, or kingdra father), and reef breed (johtian corsola father).
Performance contests include using dancing, singing, performing tricks, and other show tasks.
Jigglypuff. The three most popular contest breeds are the positive breed (plusle father), the spotted breed (shroomish or breloom father), and the caroler breed (snorunt or glalie father).
Zoroark. The three most popular contest breeds are the will-o-wisp breed (Kantonian Ponyta or Rapidash father), lake spirit breed (vaporeon father), and the watcher breed (sentret or furret father).
Audino. The three most popular contest breeds are the harlot breed (Spritzee or Aromatisse father), the pigtails breed (Tinkatink, Tinkatuff, or Tinkaton father), and the cheerleader breed (Hoppip, Skiploom, or Jumpluff father)
Absol. The three most popular contest breeds are the Egyptian breed (Kantonian Sandshrew or Sandslash father), the Flood breed (Paldean Tauros Aqua father), and the Eruption breed (Johtian Typhlosion father)
Oricorio. The three most popular contest breeds are the ballet breed (togepi, togetic, or togekiss father), the kickbox breed (hawlucha father), and the masquerade breed (pidove, tranquill, or unfezant father).
The "battle" contests are very similar to the performance contests just with a focus on using pokemon moves within the performance.
The hitmon line. The three most popular contest breeds are the ethereal breed (ceruledge father), the brawler breed (spinda father), and the kick-box breed (Buneary and Lopunny father).
Metagross. The three most popular contest breeds are the sundance breed (Solrock father), the steampunk breed (klink, klang, or klinkklang father), and the collector breed (klefki father).
Ampharos. The three most popular contest breeds are the sunflower breed (Chikorita, Bayleef, or Meganium father), the forest breed (Turtwig, Grotle, or Torterra father), and the snowglow breed (Alolan Vulpix or Ninetales father).
Porygon2. The three most popular contest breeds are the magnetic breed (Magnemite, Magneton, or Magnezone father), the ringer breed (Bronzor or Bronzong father), and the salt lick breed (Nacli, Naclstack, or Garganacl father).
Aegislash. The three most popular contest breeds are the pixelated breed (Porygon, 2, or Z father), the butter knife breed (Sinistea or Polteageist father), and the bread knife breed (Fidough or Dachsbun father).
Then there are "anti-beauty" pageants that focus on pokemon that are often considered too "ugly" for regular pageants. (this is my personal favorite type of contest)
Garbodor. The three most popular contest breeds are the petrified breed (Glimmet or Glimmora father), the run off breed (Bergmite or Avalugg father), and the recycled breed (Vanillite, Vanillish, or Vanilluxe father).
Muk. The three most popular contest breeds are the haunted breed (Gastly, Haunter, or Gengar father), the lava breed (Slugma or Magcargo father), and the chime breed (Chingling or Chimecho father)
Golbat. The three most popular contest breeds are the heart breed (Woobat or Swoobat father), the wyrm breed (Noibat or Noivern father), and the statue breed (Natu or Xatu father).
Shiinotic. The three most popular contest breeds are the cherry breed (Bounsweet, Steenee, or Tsareena father), the banana breed (tropius father), and the apple breed (Applin, Appletun, or Flapple father).
Grimmsnarl. The three most popular contest breeds are the warlock breed (Hatenna, Hattrem, and Hatterene father), the strawberry breed (Snubbull or Granbull father), and the snaggletooth breed (Mawile father).

Can we have some facts about the highlander breed mudbray and mudsdale please?
Hello! Yes, you may!
The Highlander breed is much larger than the standard breed. Technically, they are a battle breed but only because of their strength and their loyalty. They are not very aggressive and can go without battles as long as they have other forms of enrichment.
They may also try and eats rocks. While Rhyhorn and kin do eat rocks, the Highlander breed does NOT have the ability to eat rocks!
They can be found in the wild, but are quite rare and mostly bred in captivity.

Hi Professor Maple! I have a question on behalf of a friend of mine who works at a Pokémon sanctuary for retired battling Pokémon. They recently got in a Flygon from one of those world-traveling trainers, so she's been all over, but she's got some interesting behaviors and the sanctuary is wondering if she might be a Flygon variant.
I've got the relevant info from the sanctuary below. If you need more info, I will reach back out to my friend with your questions.
She is native to the Orre region.
She prefers to walk/hop places as opposed to fly. I am told that her wings are functional, if a bit small, and she can fly if she's surprised or wants to be first to feeding time.
Prefers colder environments. She's been seen initiating play with several Ice-types at the sanctuary, which seems unusual given her Ground/Dragon typing. She doesn't like swimming or water, though, it has to be ice.
Unfortunately, we can't ask her trainer anything else about her background as he himself passed away recently, hence her surrender to the sanctuary, and there isn't any family the sanctuary has been able to find for questions either.
Anything you might know would be super helpful to the sanctuary to help give this wonderful Flygon the retirement she deserves.
Thanks!
(///ooc: The dex I used as a reference for this was a fan-made fully fleshed out Orre regional dex that included modern day pokemon.)
Hello! After doing some research with the information giving, my guess is that she may be a crossbreed between a Flygon and a Kommo-o, known as the Valiant breed. Kommo-os and their kin tend to live in the colder parts of the Orre region and often adopted ice types into their packs. Kommo-os don't like swimming because their plates weigh them down and will often teach their young to avoid swimming whenever possible, even if they have no reason to.
The Valiant breed is a popular battle breed over there. My guess is that her father was a Kommo-o or maybe she was adopted into a Kommo-o pack? Either way, she was probably raised by a Kommo-o!
I'd say, as long as she's not hurting any of the ice types and they aren't hurting her, then they can continue playing! Right now, it sounds like your doing great!

The "Hollow's Eve" Breed of Fidough and Dachsbun
The Hallow's Eve breed of Fidough and Dachsbun are born to a Houndour or Houndoom father. They are named this after their bone like pattern.
This breed is about the same size as the standard breed.
As Houndour and Houndoom are much more carnivorous than Fidough and Dachsbun, this breed requires more meat in their diet than the standard breed.
This breed isn't that common in the wild but are mostly bred as a battle breed, meaning that they are aggressive and require regular battles for enrichment.
People tend to get them for halloween then abandon them afterwards. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! NEVER ADOPT A POKEMON FOR A HOLIDAY! THEY ARE NOT AN AESTHETIC! If you want to use this breed for a holiday photoshoot, find a friend or photographer who has one!

If he does start developing plates, then I'd suggest increasing his iron and calcium intake until they are done growing in. I'd also suggest warm baths during the shedding of his initial plates. Rhyhorn plating grows and then sheds regularly until around a year old where they gain their final plating. Almost all breeds that are born to a father from the Rhyhorn line develop the plating like this so don't panic!
Would a highlander breed mudbray get plated armor like the rhyhorn when it evolves or would the ram breed blood cancel that part of his parentage out?
(Asking mainly since the person Grandpa got Stormglen from also breeds rapidash and rhyhorns together too and they look like their wearing battle armor!)
-Tokens of my Confections anon
Hello! Typically, a Highlander Mudbray/Mudsdale will get plates! As Stormglen parents most likely were not a standard breed Mudsdale and Rhyhorn, there is the chance he may not develop them. If he is under four months, there is a good chance that he will grow them. I say that if he gets to a year old without developing plates then he won't develop plating.

Update
No one has claimed him, I took him to the local pokecenter to try and find a trainer id, didn't have one, further research suggests that he was most likely a pup that an irresponsible breeder set free into the wild.
PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!
If you are attempting to breed a specific pokemon for battling/contest/shiny/whatever, DO NOT RELEASE THE "REJECTS" INTO THE WILD, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE NOT NATIVE TO THE REGION.
The ONLY time it is ok to release a pokemon into the wild is if it was originally from the wild of that region or is part of a conservation effort. If you are not willing to rehome each "reject", THEN DO NOT BREED.
With that disclaimer out of the way, I need name suggestions for my new puppy!
Announcment
Hello! Is there anyone who lives in Nimbasa City, Unova missing a baby white velvet breed fidough? (White Velvet breed has an Absol father) If so, please contact me because I may have found your puppy!

Fidough Facts
Tumblr media
(Art by Tika Matsuno)
(Remake of old post that I might've deleted, I can't remember)
-The scientific name for Fidough is "Pajoes canis" which roughly translates to "Batter dog
-Fidough and Dachsbun have been with humans for thousands of years
-When first hatched, Fidough bodies are very soft and squishy to the point where it can be a danger to them. To harden them out, their Daschbun mothers will warm them up by licking them or cuddling them with her well-baked body
-Fidough will sometimes sleep in furnaces or ovens to keep their bodies warm
-Fidough and Daschbun used to be common all throughout Kalos until a Civil War, where they were accused of eating all the bread and leaving everyone hungry. All the Fidough and Daschbun were then killed out of anger
-Fidough feel little pain on their neck fat, making it a great spot for their mothers to pick them up
-When Fidough are scared, they will puff up their neck fat to appear larger and more intimidating
-Fidough's diet consists mostly of sugar and bread. Unlike most Canine pokemon, Fidough can eat things like Chocolate and grapes
Tumblr media
-Fidough don't have great hearing, so they have a great sense of smell to make up for it
-Wild Fidough are commonly found living in groups throughout cities. In Paldea, Fidough are very loved to the point where it's not uncommon to see wild Fidough on trains or in stores
-Fidough breeding is very common throughout Paldea, where they're bred to resemble different breads and pastries (remeber; not all of these variants are crossbreeds. Just felt the need to clear that out)
-Fidough urine smells like freshly baked cake
-The Fidough line is known to be incredibly stubborn, so it's best to start training them at a young age
-A group of Fidouguh is called a loaf
-While they are very docile now, they were originally bred for hunting small pokemon before people realized how useful their yeast could be. They kept their trait of being good diggers though
