okay so life update under the cut, cw for medical talk related to animals and the like

so im taking care of what is essentially the family dog, and turns out that what she was originally diagnosed with isn't what she had so she is staying overnight at the vet's and she is schedule for surgery that's kinda taking up a lot of my brain and then i had to work some crazy hours that i am not used to, i struggle with it a lot and the next few days will likely remain the same for me. sorry im spotty and sorry i haven't been able to write i feel honestly exhausted and all over the place but i am trying to get back into talking with people to distract me from what is currently happening

I think we should let ourselves get excited about the things we like and be honest about them, like not everyone is going to enjoy writing about the same topics or the same stuff so we should strive to find those we connect to, we have to unlearn the habit of feeling shame about enjoying the self indulgent impulses, but it has to be done with people we click with, idk I feel like most blogs let themselves be dictated by groups of people they don’t necessarily interact with. cringe doesn’t exist, preferences do, so write what you wanna write if that is one million ships then do that if it’s a shit ton of smut then do that if it’s like action horror stuff then go right ahead, this is already a crazy hobby to be in so use the space the way you really want to.

i think it doesn't matter how much i love female muses posts or i love ocs posts or i love trans muses posts or i love characters of color one person may or is able to reblog when it comes down to it, people should show their support by interacting with those characters whether it's via writing or sending questions or whatever. the rpc tends to ruminate around performance a lot of the time and it frustrates me personally, i think there is space for anyone's character or idea, it's all about finding the people you can click with. i write with all sorts of characters since i tend to write all sorts of characters, and its not about collecting them either, they are not freaking pokemon but it's about giving your fellow writers a chance in presenting what they want to say or write, and giving them the engagement to do so.

i think follower numbers really don't matter, i much more value interactions and talking to people and we as a community would benefit from doing that a lot more often. i am not a great chatting person, unless i've known you for years i tend to get distracted and i drop things without meaning to but! but! i much rather have 5-10 people that i can talk and plot with than give a shit about how big a follower number is. i also have a bazillion blogs so numbers tend to slowly mean less and less to me sjkfdhkjsdhf.

we gotta start thinking about accessability a little more often, shit like gradient text and posting replies as images with no image ID unrecognizable that's all nice and dandy but like come ON some people might use a screen reader or have impairments and i think we should just be A TINY MORE MINDFUL about that. again i dont think any of my mutuals go crazy like that, most of them use one solid color and to my knowledge that flies well with screen readers but idk i could be wrong, image replies with no image ID kinda kill me everytime i find one in the wild

she shifts the balance of her body nervously, draws half a smile. lately she's found herself at the company of violet. did not know what to make of her, she's seen things distractedly either imposed over the monitor, sequences roll by and pearl isn't entirely sure what they mean. something underneath the surface of violet but the images static and blurry enough. whatever is in charge of what pearl can see clearly did not take into consideration visibility when it came down to these visions. pearl's eyes linger over it. distracted. the tv is definitely off to others.

"yeah. old school." she sort of sighs before turning back to vi. clearing her throat.
