Russia/Ukraine/China are you Listening? (10/03/19)

Just like most days we’ve had as of late, today brought several pieces of breaking news each hour of the day. That’s one of the reasons that I need a place to write things down -- the unprecedented & scandal-of-the-century stories that keep breaking & developing in a non-stop flow are extremely difficult to keep track of if you’re a news junkie (guilty), let alone a regular person with a job / life. 

I hope on this blog that I can post daily, with links to explainers for all those things that you’re too embarrassed to ask about (you don’t need to be). It’s far too much work to do all the sleuthing needed to fully understand what is going on in this reality-TV-show-gone-awry type of world we currently reside in. I’ll hopefully have links to reputable news sources & articles (also something that’s hard for many people to decern and/or a lot of fucking work), a glossary of sorts, government documents, recommended reading list, and PDFs of works I think are essential. This will all be a lot of work, but I am committed to doing it, for the both of us.    

Before I dive into what specifically happened that was newsworthy or important, I must paint a narrative picture of the crazy shitshow that’s been in town for the past 3 weeks. 

-On September 19, 2019, Adam Schiff (Dem. CA-28) let the press know that he was issuing a subpoena to the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) for a whistleblower complaint of misconduct on the part of the president. Schiff said that the Inspector General deemed the complaint “credible & urgent”, which invokes a federal law requiring the DNI to hand the complaint over to Congress within a week from receiving it. The reason Schiff highlighted this issue for the press is that the contents of the complaint indicated that there were immediate & serious national security threats posed by the conduct being reported. The urgency of receiving the complaint in full was increased for Schiff due to the seemingly clandestine activities on part of the DNI, who held on to the complaint despite pre-existing laws requiring it handed over to Congress, no discussion. At that time, journalists had worked out that the complaint had something to do with a “promise” to a then-unidentified foreign leader, but not much else.

-On September 24, 2019, the House Intelligence Committee (the Committee chaired by Adam Schiff) & other congressional committees in both the House & the Senate finally received the whistleblower complaint for review. By this point, investigative journalists had broken the story that the complaint was regarding a phone call between Trump & the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The call was purported to include a quid-pro-quo demand on the part of Trump. The congressional review of the complaint confirmed these reports. 

Eventually, we discovered the following facts (as of 10/03/19):

-The Trump-Zelensky phone call notes (not transcript) were released to the public by the White House after pressure from Congress. The notes clearly showed Trump emphatically communicating to Zelensky that in order for Ukraine to receive the critical miliary aid we’ve provided them since 2014 (when they were invaded by Russia), Zelensky must conduct a “criminal investigation” (read: manufacture propaganda) of Joe Biden, his son Hunter Biden, and their activities in Ukraine. In essence: Trump withheld vital, life-saving military aid to a US ally to force them to manufacture dirt on Trump’s perceived political rival in 2020. 

-The full, word-for-word transcript of the call between Trump & Zelensky on July 25 had not been released to the public or Congress (and remains so at the time of writing), but we learned from the public release of the Whistleblower Complaint that it does, in fact, exist. The additional, perhaps more sinister, part of the complaint itself is the revelation that the transcript of this phone call was stashed on a government server so secure that it is only used for the most covert of US gov’t & military actions, most valuable intelligence information, etc. Hillary Clinton said in an interview on October 02, 2019 that the specific server cited in the Whistleblower Complaint being misused by the White House would have been where they stored all documents related to the planning & implementation of the American assassination of Osama Bin Laden. White House lawyers & personal lawyers for the president immediately identified that Trump’s phone call with Zekensky as so criminally damning that they instructed White House staff to place the transcript of the call on that same server, meant to be reserved for the most secret of secrets. We’ve subsequently come to learn that said server is not only housing that July 25, 2019 call, but an unknown amount of transcripts of calls between Trump & Russian Federation President / Boss of the Russian International Crime Syndicate, Vladimir Putin; Trump & Saudi Crown Prince & Desert Despot, Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud (shortened to MBS); and The People’s Republic of China’s President / No-so-Undercover Authoritarian, Xi Jinping. 

In essence: Trump’s conduct that is both immoral/illegal and also documented by the Executive Branch Burocracy is being placed on the most classified secret server available to our military & intelligence agencies to prevent oversight of his recurring corrupt & treasonous behavior.  

This massive scandal-turned-clear-conspiracy is the basis for the current Impeachment Inquiry against Donald Trump, which launched on September 24, 2019. 

After the announcement of an official Impeachment Inquiry, Donald Trump began to meltdown in the face of the possibility that he would be held accountable. The weekend of September 27, 2019 - September 29, 2019 saw Trump employ his preferred method of discourse, Tweeting, in a child-like rampage. Included in this unreal barrage of fear-full quips was the assertion that his impeachment would lead to a civil war, a call-to-arms to his 2nd Amendment supporters, and a hilarious declaration that his impeachment is actually a coup.  Additionally last week, he threatened the Whistleblower’s life several times & requested an investigation to uncover the whistleblower’s identity. 

In essence: Trump is having the biggest meltdown the public has ever been witness to, clearly proving the inferior intellect of those “journalists” who insisted that Trump “wants to be Impeached b/c it’s all part of his plan!!”.
