I have seen this everywhere since the movie came out and it's driving me bonkers.

Glinda is not fighting the regime from the inside. She does not care about the Animals one way or the other. She wants, right up until March of the Witch Hunters, to be adored by the masses and to be liked by the people in power. We never see her express any interest until overthrowing the system until Elphaba asks her to do so.

The conflict between them is whether it's better to fight a war you can't win on moral grounds vs. condoning evil to stay safe. That's why the story is a tragedy and why Glinda has to lose everything she really valued to become a good witch.

Thinking again about Thropple and specifically Glinda’s relationship with Fiyeraba and just…🥺

Glinda spends [redacted] years listening to Fiyero go on and on about Elphaba, but she always thought that was just his discomfort with serving the Wizard and his need to reunite the three of them. She never thought there was actually anything between her two friends because…well….Elphaba is hers, right? And Fiyero’s is hers too? That’s how the story goes.

But then suddenly, DURING THEIR ENGAGEMENT BALL, he’s running away and it’s pretty clear this was all a whole lot more than some general admiration for Elphaba’s mission. And it turns out - from her POV - that they both want to be together without her. There was this whole thing she wasn’t aware that was happening right in front of her.

Both of them betrayed her and left her alone: the only people she’s ever loved and trusted.

And then a wild, grieving Elphaba comes out swinging with accusations and strange bragging confidence about the fact that Glinda was left alone, and they fight. It all blows up again and now her ex-fiancé has been captured trying to save them, and he’s on his knees saying he’s so sorry for what he knows he did to her.

And at that moment she loves and trust them both so much that she declares her support for the very relationship that broke her….but it DOESN’T WORK. He is still tortured to death in front of her, keeping silent to save both of their lives. Her other love loses her entire mind in grief over it, in a way that clearly disturbs Glinda deeply.

So Glinda is standing there mourning Fiyero while still desperately fighting to save Elphaba - the one person she has left. And at the same time, she’s STILL processing all the emotions from only a few days before of her best friends/lovers apparently having an entire required relationship for [redacted] years that she was entirely unaware of.

And yet, Glinda stands there and so very gently asks Elphaba if he’s dead. She still stands there and - in that moment with her world crashing down around her - cares more about Elphaba’s broken, grieving heart than her own.

We also never talk about how the last person to touch him as a human that doesn’t include him being beaten and crucified was Glinda 🫠

Do you think maybe Glinda and Fiyero both became workaholics while Elphaba was MIA and just never broke the habit

Maybe when the three of them leave oz to start a new life together in their truest poly Fiyeraba fashion Glinda and Fiyero can never break the habit

Elphaba is off running with liir or teaching the young kids and Animals in town while Glinda is working on a painting that is already done but isn’t “perfect” and Fiyero is writing notes down from a extremely old oz history textbook

Do you think Elphaba finds this really weird because at shiz they both couldn’t sit still for more than 10 minutes but now they sit still for days on end just obsessing over anything and everything

Elphaba doesn’t know the full reason why they are doing this but has learned that if she just walks infront of Fiyero with a hammer or a piece of wood that he will snap out of it and come running to stop her

Glinda is a bit harder to break out of her hyperfixation because let’s be honest she was the one breaking Elphaba out of hers

Elphaba has to be very strategic with her. Sometimes she just runs outside so Glinda only sees her for half a second and she will come running out yelling what’s wrong. Sometimes she starts cooking. Sometimes she walks past Glinda fully naked with a dramatic sway in her hips moving towards the bedroom. And sometimes she just uses her magic because the magical pulse is enough to break her out of her stump.

Glinda is the one who accidentally takes over the whole bed in her sleep or like kicks or does some weird shit. So like whether she’s upside down or side ways or somehow pushing each of the other 2 off opposite ends of the bed at the same time or squishes all three of them into only a third of the bed space or is kicking Fiyero in the nuts or slapping his face or is just on top of one of them.
