What is Dapper Dan for you?

For me Dapper Dan is a symbol of traditional toiletries and classic clothing of the simple, hard-working man striving for elegance. Dapper Dan also embodies for me personally the lifestyle of the 1930-50s.

Who is supposed to feel attracted by Dapper Dan?

Dapper Dan attracts men who feel like men. These are not extroverted machos, also not necessarily vintage fans - at least many are not aware of it. Rather Dapper Dan is preferred by men who rest in themselves and radiate an aura of strength, serenity and fascination. Just what the men in the 1930s to 1950s years embodied. No matter from where our customers come from, Dapper Dan is a masculine-classical part of their lifestyle. The enthusiasm of Dapper Dan definitely also traces to the fragrances themselves - be it the scent of the Dapper Dan After Shave Green, Dapper Dan After Shave Blue or the Dapper Dan pomades - which we have modeled from old scents of the 1930s and 1950s. This brings back to the wearer a sense of tradition, decency and masculinity.

Where is Dapper Dan being produced?

I've found that our customers are placing very much confidence in Dapper Dan. We take this trust very seriously and take extra care of Dapper Dan being always manufactured from high quality ingredients, and of high long term production quality. Dapper Dan products are therefore manufactured by traditional establishments in Germany and the EU countries who share our focus on quality. So our Dapper Dan toiletries are produced in Germany and the Czech Republic. The clothes and accessories are being manufactured in Portugal, Poland, Croatia, the Czech Republic and of course Germany.

What is your Dapper Dan favorite product?

This is clearly the Dapper Dan Green After Shave. Thanks to this characteristic fragrance I have met my girlfriend, with whom I am together for two years and with whom I am expecting a little Dapper Dan junior :-) I also usually wear the Dapper Dan Pomade Medium, comb my hair with a Dapper Dan comb and brush it with a Dapper Dan hairbrush.

Where are you heading to with Dapper Dan?

The question should rather be where Dapper Dan is heading with us. We started with shaving lotions and hair pomades. Meanwhile Dapper Dan has become an expression and a lifestyle statement, and our customers love it to wear a Dapper Dan shirt. In the team we keep on discussing new ideas what defines Dapper Dan and we give our whole passion, skill and sensibility towards the creation of Dapper Dan. Thus our fashion lady Jessi travels to fabric fairs and fabric manufacturers throughout Europe, and takes care of the production of entire clothing lines  be it the perfect button of a Dapper Dan shirt, a pair of Dapper Dan pants or even a Dapper Dan leather case. Often she is being assisted by Anne and consults our guys from the Dapper Dan team: Frederik, Michu, Andi, Philipp and Tobi who simultaneously brings Dapper Dan graphically to life.

What the heck has Don Draper to do with Dapper Dan?

Our Dapper Dan products are prohibited in some countries. No, seriously: because of trademark issues, we are not allowed to use our Dapper Dan brand in some countries outside of Germany. Since this resulted into real annoyance with our customers, barber shops and fans, we came up with a spare brand named „Don Draper“ - a kind of "Export Edition" outside of Germany - and thus were able to make our products available outside of Germany. Our customers and fans are very grateful and we deeply appreciate their loyalty.

Was zeichnet für Dich Dapper Dan aus?

Dapper Dan ist für mich ein Symbol für traditionelle Pflegeprodukte und klassische Bekleidung des einfachen, hartarbeitenden, ehrlichen und zur Eleganz strebenden Mannes. Dapper Dan verkörpert zudem für mich persönlich ein Lebensgefühl der 1930-50er Jahre.

Wer soll sich von Dapper Dan angesprochen fühlen?

Von Dapper Dan fühlen sich Männer angesprochen, die sich wie Männer fühlen. Das sind keine extrovertierten Machos, auch nicht unbedingt Vintagefans - zumindest ist es vielen nicht bewußt. Sondern Dapper Dan nehmen Männer die in sich selbst ruhen und eine Aura der Stärke, Gelassenheit und Faszination ausstrahlen. Eben das was das Männerbild in den 1930-50er Jahren verkörperte. Egal aus welcher Ecke unsere Kunden kommen, Dapper Dan ist dabei ein maskulin-klassischer Baustein ihres Lebensstils. Die Begeisterung von Dapper Dan liegt aber auch sicher an den Düften selbst - sei es der Duft des Dapper Dan After Shave Green, Dapper Dan After Shave Blue oder der Dapper Dan Pomaden - welche wir alten Düften der 1930er und 1950er nachempfunden haben. Diese wecken beim Träger ein Gefühl von Tradition, Anstand und Männlichkeit.

Wo wird Dapper Dan produziert?

Ich habe festgestellt, dass unsere Kunden Dapper Dan sehr viel Vertrauen entgegenbringen. Dieses Vertrauen nehmen wir wirklich sehr ernst und achten ganz besonders darauf, dass Dapper Dan nicht nur bei den Inhaltsstoffen, sondern auch was die Produktionsqualität angeht stets hochwertig bleibt. Dapper Dan Produkte werden deshalb in Deutschland und den EU-Ländern bei ebenso auf Qualität bedachten Traditions-Betrieben gefertigt. So werden Dapper Dan Pflegeprodukte in Deutschland und Tschechien produziert. Die Bekleidung und Zubehör kommen aus Portugal, Tschechien, Kroatien, Polen und natürlich Deutschland.

Welches ist Dein Dapper Dan Lieblingsprodukt?

Das ist eindeutig das Dapper Dan After Shave Green. Unter anderem dank diesem Duft habe ich meine Freundin kenngelernt, mit welcher ich seit zwei Jahren zusammen bin und mit welcher ich einen kleinen Dapper Dan Nachwuchs erwarte :-) Im Haar trage ich meist die Dapper Dan Medium Pomade, kämme mich mit einem Dapper Dan Kamm und bürste mit einer Dapper Dan Haarbürste.

Wo willst Du hin mit Dapper Dan?

Die Frage müsste eher lauten, wo will Dapper Dan mit uns hin. Angefangen haben wir mit Rasierwässern und Haarpomaden. Inzwischen ist Dapper Dan zu einem Lebensausdruck geworden und unsere Kunden lieben es ein Dapper Dan Hemd zu tragen. Wir diskutieren im Team immer wieder neue Ideen was alles Dapper Dan ist und sein sollte und geben unsere ganze Leidenschaft und Können für die Schöpfung von Dapper Dan hin. So reist Jessi zu Stoffmessen und zu Stoffproduzenten in ganz Europa, und kümmert sich um die Produktion ganzer Bekleidungslinien bis hin zum perfekten Knopf eines Dapper Dan Hemdes, einer Dapper Dan Hose oder selbst eines Dapper Dan Lederetuis. Oft wird sie dabei von Anne unterstützt und stimmt sich mit unseren Dapper Dan Jungs im Team ab. Das sind Frederik, Michu, Andi, Philipp und Tobi, der gleichzeitig Dapper Dan grafisch zum Leben erweckt.

Was hat eigentlich Don Draper mit Dapper Dan zu tun?

Für unsere Dapper Dan Produkte herrscht in einigen Ländern Prohibition. Nein, im Ernst: aus markenrechtlichen Gründen dürfen wir in einigen Ländern außerhalb Deutschlands die Marke Dapper Dan nicht verwenden. Da dies zu richtigem Ärger seitens unserer Kunden, Barbershops und Fans geführt hat, haben wir als Prohibitionsersatz Don Draper - eine Art „Export Edition“ - eingeführt und konnten so unsere Produkte auch außerhalb Deutschlands erhältlich machen. Unsere Kunden und Fans sind dafür sehr dankbar und wir wissen ihre Loyalität zu schätzen.
