Hi! I just saw your post about the boys’ enneagrams and was wondering if you could explain what an enneagram is?
the enneagram is a personality test! there’s 9 types. it’s my personal favorite test bc i feel like each type has a multitude of kinds of people that fall within them. both extroverts and introverts fall into all of the types. it’s not so much about how you “act” but your core desires and values. it’s very interesting and i recommend you learn more about it!

The Outsiders Enneagrams
Ponyboy: 9w8
Sodapop: 9w8
Darry: 1w9
Dallas: 8w9
Johnny: 6w5
Two-Bit: 7w6
Steve: 7w8
so i’ve recently gotten into the enneagram, and typing is my new obsession! i wanted to try it on my original fav characters. these were really hard, and i am definitely due for a book reread/movie rewatch, so my characterizations may be a little off. i tend to stick to mostly core desires when i try typing, but it was really hard, bc lots of these guys have very complex motivations and reasonings for all of their actions and behavior. lots of 8s and 9s, but i can totally see different types for most of them (maybe Pony and Soda are 2s, and Dally could definitely be a 4). please let me know what y’all think and if you have different typing for the boys!
(should i try Hogwarts houses next?)

May I please have a ship? I’m 5’5” with long strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. My friends describe me as funny and smart, but also kind and loyal. I guess you could say that I’m the “least sheltered” and most street-smart out of anyone I know. I find an escape in the arts with musical theatre, and usually spend my free-time in my school’s theater during the day. I love to go to parties and be with my friends or go on long car rides with the radio blasting old music! xx
soda is your mans. i feel like y’all both have that “least sheltered, street smart” vibe, and even tho soda is very 😃, that street knowledge and persona always pulls through when necessary, and i’m sure that’s how y’all would bond initially (like after getting into a scrape with some socs or whatevs). also your interest in the arts would be so interesting to him. he’d constantly ask you to sing for him while he cleaned up the dx at the end of his shift and you were just chilling with him (maybe being all cute and propped up on the counter and he’d be like “scoot over, i gotta wipe it down” but he’d be SMILING VERY ADORABLY), and he’d complain when you dragged him to see shows, but he would become very invested in the plots (and probs even have a few fav musicals!). and you’d start singing a song from a certain show and he’d be like “wait can you sing the other one? that’s my favorite”. and long car rides with the radio blasting is very much a sodapop date!!! y’all would be so cute together 🥺

I know we’ve all joked about this scene to death, but I want to say that what I love most about it is how, like most of the best parts of the movie, it is so clearly improvised.
In the book, they were all just throwing rocks at the car. I think it’s safe to wager a bet that it was probably scripted that way, but Francis Ford Coppola just told them to do whatever they thought their characters would and let them run with it.
Like. Just try to tell me that all of this shit doesn’t fit their actors perfectly.
Of course we’ve got Tom Cruise being extra as fucking fuck trying to literally pull a guy through a car window and then keep fucking holding on when the car backs away.
Emilio Estevez just being like “Yeah, I’m just gonna…open the door. Yeah, that works. Oka–WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU DOING TOM JESUS CHRIST.”
Rob Lowe off in the corner like “Okay I have no idea what I’m doing so I’m just gonna make sure I look really good while doing it.”
And then Matt Dillon half-assedly kicking the car with his hands stuck in his pockets (because we’ve all seen him play soccor so we know he can’t kick for shit) and then randomly coming back like “OMIGOD LOOK GUYS I FOUND A STICK.”

“I’ve been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That’s gold. Keep that way, it’s a good way to be.”

sodapop must of felt miserable whenever it came to grades or intelligence in the house. i mean, you have darry where the only things keeping him from being a soc is the money and his friends. if it wasn’t for his parents being dead he could of gone through college. and with ponyboy he was pushed a grade up for being so smart, put in all A classes that mostly only had socs, wrote a book length essay, and it will be able to go through college. sodapop is a high school drop out that works at a gasoline station that can barely write properly. both his older and younger brother who come from the same background and upbringing completely blow him out of the water and out do him in intelligence by a lot. it’s no wonder why he felt so stupid and insignificant

G r e a s e r s   are almost like   h o o d s  ; we steal things and drive old souped-up cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while.

Dallas Winston is possibly one of my favorite characters of all time. I realized The Outsiders fandom is seriously lacking in fanart so I had to draw Ol’ Dally.

The Outsiders Characters + Book Descriptions: Rob Lowe as Sodapop Curtis ↳ Soda’s handsomer than anyone else I know. Not like Darry—Soda’s movie-star handsome, the kind that people stop on the street to watch go by.
