AO3 has been scraped, once again.
As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.
I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.

How To Lock All of Your Fics At Once On Ao3
Someone has probably already done this but
For anyone looking to lock their works for only registered users over on Ao3 in light of the sudowrites scraping thing here is how you can lock all of your fics at once.
Log into Ao3 and go to your Profile, Works or Dashboard

At the top under you’re user name there are four buttons pick Edit Works

Second row of buttons on the right chose All and then hit Edit

Scroll down past all of your works and then keeps scrolling until you find Visibility change it to Only Show to Registered User

(If a fic is over the tag limit you have to edit those down to make edit to the work.)
Hit Update All Works at the very bottom and you are done all of you fics should now have a little blue lock next to your user name on each fic.

Fantasy Guide to Governesses

I've covered royal childcare in this post here but I received an ask asking for specifics surrounding the role of Governesses. So what do we need to know? For @princealienelffish22
Who is the Governess?

Governesses are the female private tutors that raise children for royal, noble or affluent families. They aren't quite servants nor are they equal to the family. In all households, the governess is usually unmarried but there have been some examples in royal households where the governess was or had been married such as Kat Ashley or Margaret, Countess of Salisbury. This was mainly to ensure she wouldn't go getting distracted by her own kids and family while she's raising somebody else's kids. If she is not a noble, she will at least be well born, at least middle class. Being a governess wasn't exactly a desired job but it was a respectable way for an unmarried woman to earn herself some cash. She will, of course, be very educated.
What does the Governess do?

A Governess is essentially a tutor. She would been in charge of teaching children the fundamental 'R's, (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic). She would teach all children but when boys reached about age 7 or so, the boys would go on to male tutors for more expansive education. The governess would teach girls up until they came out in society or even until they married, mainly teaching them languages, etiquette and chaperoning the children. She would even teach life skills such as sewing, embroidery and art to the girls in her charge. Whilst the more hands on tasks would fall on nursery staff, the governess probably had a more emotional role in the raising of the children.
Role of the Governess in the family

The thing with hiring a governess didn't mean that the kid's parents hated their babies or didn't feel like raising them. With many noble, upper class and royal families, they simply wouldn't have been able to juggle both their duties and children. This lead to many children forming attachments to their governesses that lasted lifetimes such as Queen Victoria's Baroness Lehzen. This sometimes caused tension between parents and governesses. Tension was also often caused if the governess was too close to certain members of the family like the husband or wife, because the governess was expected to distance herself unless invited. She wouldn't be invited to eat dinner with them, she would eat alone. She would come with them to their summer residence and if they were travelling. She would come and go if she wanted but she was expected to be at their beck and call.
Notable Governesses

Margaretta Eagar (funny story, she's the reason that OTMA had slight Irish accents when speaking English)
Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury
Madame de Maintenon (she ended up marrying the King)
Kat Ashley (stayed with Elizabeth I all her life)
Baroness Louise Lehzen (stayed with Victoria long after her marriage)

hands off our Democracy!

For many Americans reeling from Trump's cruel and irrational actions, yesterday, April 5th provided a welcome outlet to voice their grievances and demands. All across the country and several nations world-wide, millions of protesters gathered in all sorts of weather in the largest protest of the Trump administration yet.
It was heartening to see reports today of millions demonstrating in major cities like Boston, LA, Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, Washington DC, Denver, or Portland. But what really made me feel hopeful and connected were all the reports of medium and small-town gatherings all over the country. Thousands showed up in Corydon, IN, Tryon, NC, from Oshkosh, WI to Bisbee, AZ and every state in-between, all across the nation, red or blue. People everywhere are worried, shocked, fearful, and angry. And they are showing up and speaking out.
My daughter and I joined a Hands Off protest in Louisville, KY in the rain. It was exhilarating, heartening, and encouraging. I highly recommend it. (the rally, not the rain.) A rally can make you feel hopeful and counteract our sense of helplessness. Try it. There will be more. They can make you feel better and they can make a difference.
Last month I suggested that you call your Senators and Representatives for the same reasons: it makes us feel better, and it can make a difference. I stand by that.
We have to persuade Congress to stand up for our rights and institutions. And we can, if enough of us take action. Numbers count. Every call you make gets tabulated. Every crowd you join is one person bigger. Every text you send gets added to a list. Politicians always count potential votes, whether for or against.
We can't afford to stay silent. We can't disengage now, no matter how alluring that may be. Too much is at stake. That's clear now. Our democracy, our Constitution, our Country is on the block.
So sign that petition. Join that protest. Call you Representative in Congress. Make yourself heard. If they hear from a million people, they will listen. Numbers count. You count.

oh damn
so I know I'm not super-active on here anymore, but i hit 300K followers on here, and i'm feeling a little sentimental at 1:30 in the morning.
13 years ago, I started this tumblr out of sheer desperation. I was 21 years old and fresh out of college, I knew I wanted to be a voice actor, had no idea how that would ever be achievable, no one knew who I was. I decided to make this Tumblr to practice voice acting and I pledged to make an audio post every single day. I did this without fail for years.
I started out doing fandubs and comic dubs and reading shitposts, anything I could think of. My Lackadaisy dubs were the first thing that got real traction, I'll always be thankful to Tracy for reblogging those (and yes, it is insanely surreal to think that a decade later I would be voicing Mordecai in an animated version for real).
I improved exponentially by posting here every day. I was entirely self-taught, I've never taken a class, I just practiced every day (even when there were countless days I wanted to give up) and through sheer force of will, I started to improve.
Everything I have achieved in my life so far is because of this Tumblr. I truly could not have ever dreamed of being where I'm at now and what I have accomplished. So whether you know me from my old shitposts or comic dubs or Goofy posts or Vines or YouTube videos or my professional voice acting roles, I just want to say thank you for your support. It's been a crazy ride. Looking forward to what comes next.

so important to not only write it bad but write it problematic. kill the twitter user that lives in your mind. you are not beholden to the potential criticisms of an imaginary audience.

My edo period samurai roommate keeps telling me how i’ll bring shame and dishonor to our apartment if I keep forgetting to wash the dishes. Like whatever dude, I’m not the one carrying on a passionate yet illicit affair with the daimyo’s daughter whose hand has already been promised to another.
