seeing people completely misunderstand stannis's character on reddit is pissing me off. stannis doesnt fundamentally want glory and power. he doesn't even particularly want to be king. he's not slighted by robert giving him dragonstone because he's too dumb to realize that it was traditionally the seat of targaryen heirs or whatever.
stannis more than anything else wants to be loved and respected by his brother robert. that's it. the burning core of insecurity before robert's death comes from the fact that his big brother chose ned over his actual brother, despite holding out a siege for him, despite everything. robert passing over stannis and giving storm's end to renly is about stannis feeling unacknowledged for his loyalty to his big brother, despite everything stannis does.
stannis is not a fundamentally hard and cold person. he's someone who'll nurse an injured goshawk back to health because he feels it's right. stannis lives in a world where he's told that in order to be a man you must be cruel; in order to be a falconer you must cast aside your beloved goshawk; in order to win a war you must kill your brother; in to save the world you must kill a bastard boy.
the tragedy of stannis is that everyone misunderstands him as iron, thinking he'll break before he bends. but stannis constantly bends. he bends over the sacrifice of edric storm between the counsel of mel and davos. he bends to davos' advice to go north beyond the wall. the thing about stannis is that he doesnt even much like the idea that he's azor ahai (r'hllor picks strangely, he says). but deep down he is that sad sullen boy that cressen once knew, and he wants to believe that he is the chosen. and the thing about prophecy is that it twists you into someone worse. this is why jon and dany are the heroes in a way stannis can't be: because in pursuing the prophecy that mel tells him about, stannis feels compelled to make decisions 'for the greater good' that will ultimately corrupt him and take him away from the path of justice.
but isn't that what it means to be a "hero" according to the people who make these myths? azor ahai, plunging a sword into his wife's heart, watering the blade with her blood? isn't the notion of a "hero" always about sacrifice for the greater good? maybe that's why stannis can't be the true hero of a song of ice and fire, just like rhaegar, because to hear the prophecy is to be made worse by it.

CW: Sexual Assault and Grooming involving minors
Drake Bell has gone on Josh Pecks podcast. On this podcast Drake Bell continues to attempt to revive his career.
Before I continue I want to state that I absolutely believe Drake bell was abused when he was child. What happened to him is awful and I wish the proper adults had protected him from his abuser.
That being said, Drake Bell went on to become an abuser himself. Ever since the Quiet on Set documentary, he’s been trying harder and harder to distance himself from the allegations and convictions against him.
The primary allegation against Drake, of which he plead guilty to, was child endangerment. This incident involved a 15 year old Drake had explicit conversations with online. It was stated in his trial hearing that he at one point said to this 15 year old “hurry up and turn 18.” This was in 2021. Drake plead guilty to these charges.
This minor would also claim that Drake had sexually assaulted her. That they had met up in person and Drake Bell had personally known her for years.
If you see anyone talking about Drake bell online and they bring up his allegations they will share a screenshot of a paragraph someone wrote claiming that everything that happened with Drake was a lie. The post brings up a version of story that was never mentioned during his trial.
This is where we begin to see Drake Bell rewriting the narrative surrounding his allegations and convictions.
Drake Bell claims he pled guilty to the child endangerment charge against him to get the process over with as quickly as possible for everyone involved. The more likely reason he plead guilty to the charges swiftly was because prosecutors wouldn’t be able to prove what Drake had actually done. From the hearing and sentencing we only have what Drake and his attorneys have said. That is it. This has allowed Drake to completely altar the narrative surrounding what happened.
Drake would go on to entirely change his story surrounding the events he was charged for:
- he claims that the he had never met up with the minor in person
- he claims that he was messaged from a “finsta” (fake Instagram account) and he did not know the age of the person he engaged in explicit conversations with. He says he blocked the account when he found out.
You would think that if these things did happen Drake Bells attorney would have brought it up back in 2021. But they did not.
Drake Bell also (allegedly) seemingly has a history of dating underage and teenage girls.
In 2006 he dated Melissa Lingafelt when she was 16 and he was 20. During the duration of their relationship Melissa Lingafelt claims that Drake was physically abusive toward her. She spoke out against him in 2020. Drake Bell denies these claims.
Drake Bell began dating his ex wife when she was 19 and he was 27.
Last year, a 19 year old began posting videos of herself arm and arm with Drake Bell. She claimed they were just friends. It was then discovered by users that Drake Bell seemed to have interacted with this girl when she was a minor (allegedly around 14). There is a lot of evidence to support that Drake Bell dated this minor. Including a book written by the minor herself. The minor denies these claims and appears to defend Drake Bell against the allegation despite multiple different postings from the minor in the past that seem to prove this claim.
No matter what others may say, it is clear that Drake Bell has a dodgy or outright predatory connection to minors. I also believe his ex girlfriend’s allegations of physical abuse against him.
Ever since the Quiet on Set documentary came out netizens have been all to eager to absolve Drake Bell of all allegations against him because he himself was a victim of abuse.
Drake Bell is a victim of abuse. But that does not absolve him of becoming an abuser himself.
I believe Drake Bell was a victim of abuse. I also believe Drake Bells victims. It can and should be both.
I highly recommend checking out this video by Ryan Beard who lays out all of these claims and more a lot better than I can;

okay so i think genuinely that the carbon monoxide poisoning shared hallucination has to do with Van, Akilah, and Shauna, and their various places in the wilderness/ways in which the wilderness is attached to them:
WITH AKILAH: the wilderness fed her berries that she gorged on and took her to animals, it even came and spoke to her in the form of the llama (presumably a creature akilah would view as cuddly, soft, nonthreatening, not a sheep but not a wolf, either) it gave her advice. everything that has teeth bites. and when the dream took her to the classroom, it pulled her through the dirt slowly. the wilderness has been frequently compared to the ground itself throughout the show; even Misty said "thank dirt" jokingly as a way to thank the wilderness. I think akilah getting pulled into the dirt was exactly that: the wilderness pulling her into it's embrace. Maybe travis was right, maybe the wilderness is talking to akilah, maybe it has a favorite.
in the classroom, the slap bracelet adheres harmlessly to akilah's wrist- the wilderness's loving embrace. it doesn't want to harm akilah, but it will have her eventually, one way or another.
WITH VAN: the wilderness took her back to the cabin. it put a roof over her head, gave her a cozy chair, and a warm fire. but after a moment of rest, van was trapped in like she was in the plane, stuck and burning. it also isn't remiss to me how van goes to the cabin pre-decay, how everything looks upkept, im not sure if this is an allusion to the ways that van is stuck in the past or something else. i think that is the gist of it though; the wilderness is van's home, and she is trapped there, trying to escape but always opening doors that lead right back to it.
in the classroom, when van tries the slap bracelet, it scratches her but not enough to maim or kill: i think this maybe means that the wilderness can't hurt van, won't hurt van, but van isn't as unkillable as she seems. She can still be hurt and killed, but not by the wilderness- maybe something else will end up being her demise.
WITH SHAUNA: i find it so fascinating that in shauna's vision she is in the lake, very similarly to how lottie was during her baptism scene, and she's dragged down to the bottom of the water as lottie was too. but, of course, the obvious: shauna's pursuit of the things she cannot have. shauna, constantly swimming towards the shore, chasing after her son, who she lost, trying to bring back jackie, trying to grapple for power in the group. shauna is in such a unique position because she has never once in the course of what we've seen give in to or believe in the wilderness, except to hunt (and maybe for shauna, the hunt is something more selfish), and it almost seems in this moment, the wilderness is punishing her for it,
because the slap bracelet completely rejects her. it tries to kill her. wraps arounf her neck and chokes her, cuts through her skin. obviously we know in the moment that thats actually because shauna was choking on the gas in the cave, but what if it's an indication of a bitter future for shauna? if shauna tries to steal the crown from natalie and name herself queen, i think this moment tells us explicity how the wilderness will react. firm rejection. the wilderness did not pick shauna. doesn't even seem to like her, really. and why should it? shauna doesn't believe in it, doesn't play by it's rules.
and lottie playing teacher in that scene. we know she feels cut off from the wilderness, and i think in this moment were seeing the reflection of her "pupilage". we know she's already set her sights on akilah but maybe in the future we'll see lottie trying to force van and shauna to commune with the wilderness as well.
and dont get me started on jackie. jackie still in her mean girl persona, judging everyone's reactions to the bracelet, the wilderness itself personified. she tells van that happens sometimes when she cries out from the pain like van is embarrassing for reacting, like she should've known all along what would happen if she took the bracelet. and we cant ignore that jackie's hair is noticeably longer, like time has passed for her, like she's changed too.
anyways, im so excited to see where this goes throughout the season. i love this show.

I love the foreshadowing here when Tai warns Nat about Shauna. Shauna has caused the downfall of every Queen. Jackie was the first Queen of the group, and Shauna was the one to ultimately turn the group against her and banish her out of the cabin, leading to her death. Lottie was the second Queen, and after Shauna beat her within an inch of her life, the card draw happened as an attempt to save Lottie, which led to Lottie giving up the throne after seeing how far the group had descended.
And now the signs are all there with Nat as the third Queen. With Shauna’s resentment of her in the background, I am sure she will be the catalyst for Nat’s ultimate downfall, too.

What I’m most excited to see from Shauna and Melissa (and Shauna in general this season) is she’s clearly desperate for power. She wants power and influence among the Yellowjackets and I think this season we’re gonna see her do some very unhinged things to get it. Now how does Melissa play into this? Clearly Melissa likes Shauna and is very submissive (knife to the throat makeout). I think the dynamic that will be played with between them is Shauna will assume the role of Jackie and Melissa will play Shauna. Think about it. Shauna’s the cool one to Melissa. Shauna comments how she didn’t know Melissa even had a personality. Eerily similar to how Shauna felt in her relationship with Jackie huh? Like she invisible?
Now I can’t say I know where this will all go for Shauna as she tries to assume Jackie’s role in more ways than just with Melissa. Will she succeed in her grab for power? Will her relationship or flirtation with Melissa crash and burn? That’s up to Shauna.
