BRING ME THE HORIZON: âDO YOU WANNA START A CULT WITHÂ ME?â
What do we have here, then?
It looks like Bring Me The Horizon might be gearing up for something, with a new BMTH-related billboard popping up reading, âDo you wanna start a cult with me?â
On top of that, this mysterious new billboard contains the bandâs logos, as well as a potential new logo, and a contact number: 0800 888 6448.
When you call said number, youâll find yourself on a line offering spiritual advice (all of which is pretty odd), and a distorted clip of what could very likely be new music.
Additionally, a new website has appeared, Joinmantra.org, which also contains the logos on the billboard, along with the message:
For countless ages a goal of religion has been the salvage of the human soul.
Man has tried by many practices to find the pathway to salvation.
He has held the imperishable hope that someday in some way he would be free.
Man has spoken of the second coming of Christ and of the Judgment Day.
We have kept wide the doorway for this salvation by retaining religious freedom.
And here, after these ages of grief and suffering, through terrible wars and catastrophe,Â
the hope still lives â and with that hope, accomplishment.
Man can save his soul. Like the bright cool dawn after a night of prison and of thunder, man can taste that freedom sought so long. There are those who will say that only after a lifetime of sacrifice and good doing can the soul be free â that God demands conditions in the freedom and that some have the power of making mankind slaves.
But these things too have answers. And all we tell you now is that you can be free.
But first, we must piss you off.
Salvation will return.
21 August 2018
Maybe weâll know more on August 21, then? Letâs hope soâŠ
When we caught up with frontman Oli Sykes in our world-exclusive March cover feature, he said of Horizonâs new material:
âI donât think any Bring Me The Horizon fan is going to be surprised at this next album sounding different to the last one. I kind of know where I want to go, but itâs also falling into place as we write the thing. We want it to be different and we want to push forward. We like the idea of breaking into the mainstream. Weâre not ashamed of that, we donât see it as selling out. We see it as a great challenge, to make music that can be adored by more people but still retain who we are. That is the goal.â

In 2016, Oli Sykes told NME that their new album is set to be âweirder and darkerâ.
âSometimes we talk about it, but itâs âin the momentâ when youâre inspired by something and I donât know,â he said. âI think thereâs an element of what weâre doing now that will stay in the music, but at the same time itâs like people thought âThatâs The Spiritâ was a very polished pop rock album â itâs not. I think itâs inventive and unique, but itâs still safe in a way; we knew the songs weâre gonna connect well with people. Next time I think we wanna push it a bit weirder. Who knows?â
When asked if their new material might take a more dance-oriented edge, Sykes replied: âPotentially, yeah. Thatâs my favourite part â itâs something we do that comes across really well live you know when the song to us has a breakdown or like a heavy dance kind of vibe to it. You know thereâs not many acts like that. If there was some bridge between what weâre doing, somewhere between artists like Prodigy or Massive Attack and stuff like that.â
Back in 2017, keyboardist/singer Jordan Fish spoke to the Radio 1 Rock Show, confirming that it âwonât be a pop recordâ.
âThere are a few things I know it wonât be. Itâs not going to be a pop record,â said Fish. âI donât think weâd ever do a straight, boring pop record. Itâs not going to be a super, super heavy record either ⊠Weâll probably take bits from what we did on âSempiternalâ, bits from what we did on âThatâs The Spiritâ and take it off in a different direction. As long as itâs interesting and exciting, thatâs all I really care about.â
He added: âI understand thereâs probably a load of people who want us to be super heavy and a load of people who only like the last album, who donât like the heavier stuff. Thatâs just the nature of a band thatâs changed styles so much across the course of their career. For us, I just want to write something good. Where it sits genre-wise is something someone else can worry about.â
Will Bring Me The Horizon tour in 2018?
While no tour dates are yet announced, Bring Me The Horizon are heavily rumoured to perform as a âsecret setâ at this yearâs Reading & Leeds festivals.
