Been thinking a lot lately about how Mario and Peach might have gotten to know each other better and what subjects could have brought them closer together, so here are several little headcanons I had which I’ve combined together for this one scene. 😁
- Whenever Mario mumbles to himself or thinks out loud while working alone on a project, he usually does so in Italian.
- Peach has been fascinated by the language ever since hearing it from the bros and truly finds it beautiful.
- She adores Mario’s accent and could listen to him speak for hours.
- She learned an Italian word on purpose in the hope of catching Mario’s attention (and was secretly thrilled when it obviously did).
- She asked for possible lessons because she longs to spend more time with him and figured this was a good way to do exactly that.
- Mario was genuinely impressed that Peach could memorize something she heard only once and was touched by her will to learn.
- When around her, Mario gestures with his hands a lot and unconsciously makes all sorts of small flourishes.^^
- Peach is usually the one who initiates proximity and is just slightly less shy about standing close to him than he is to her.
- Mario’s patience and natural enthusiasm makes him a great teacher.
- They will soon develop a pattern from this and take to showing new things to one another as a recurring activity.
I love these calm, peaceful moments so much! They’re among my favorite things to draw. 🥰
While exploring ideas that would demonstrate just how much Bowser enjoys tormenting Mario, I started wondering what was the worst possible thing the Koopa King could do to humiliate him.
And then I remembered this post, and thought: “Oh no.”
…Well, yep. He saw right through Mario and thought it would be fun to brutally expose his feelings and insult him at the same time, just because he can. And Mario, who had already convinced himself long ago that he didn’t stand a chance with the Princess, is rightfully hurt and mortified. :’(
But what will Peach think? There’s still a lot of room for doubt here, and in her view, maybe Bowser is just being an asshole. The tricky part will be for her to have even a semblance of talk with Mario after this. 😔💔
I hope we all draw impulse maids if/when he joins tumblr for realsies because it’s the perfect introduction. If he can’t deal with that he can’t deal with tumblr but if he’s chill with it we can coexist
if you see a male character kiss a male character, you assume they are gay.
if you see a female character kiss a female character, you assume they are a lesbian.
if you hear a character say they don't feel like their gender, you assume they are trans.
so why do a-spec characters have to jump through so many loops?
a character saying they've never had a crush or don't want a relationship or that they don't understand romantic love is so often ignored or used as fodder for other queer or autistic headcanons (reinforcing stereotypes that aroace people are secretly gay or always autistic)
why is it that our stories are always "up to interpretation"? why do we have to wait for the words aromantic or asexual to be said to be taken seriously? why is it that even when characters say they don't want relationships, fans will scream and cry about sex/romance favourable aspecs and qprs?
when it comes to gay and trans characters, even the likes of bisexual lighting is often treated as though it canonises their sexuality. for aroace characters, even the most explicit coding possible is swept under the rug in favour of other "interpretations"
i'm so tired of fighting for representation just to have it ignored and minimised by fans. let characters be aroace. please.
Me: *to my therapist* I had the spoons, so I did heaps of stuff and now I'm so exhausted I feel sick.
My Therapist: This is where you got to treat spoons like cash. Just because you have them, you need to figure out if you have enough to spend, or else you're going to be in debt. Remember, you're autistic, so you regain those spoons slowly and use them quickly. Everything, good and bad, uses that cash for you. You may enjoy the activity but it's going to exhaust you just as much as a bad activity if you're not careful.
I think you should all know that I had a weird dream last night where mumbo jumbo was a shrimp talking to me, and he kept saying to me, "It's quite shrimple, really."
Please go watch Sex Explained on Netflix. Not only is it a great resource for the basic sex education that is sorely lacking in the U.S., but some of ya’ll need to take a deep breath and remember the difference between fantasy vs reality. This purity culture thing that we’re going through right now is directly harmful to responsible, healthy sexual expression.
BTW this woman, Lisa Diamond, is a noted psychologist and has been pushing for greater understanding of womens sexuality as a whole.
