"Nngh... Cold!" Mirin whimpered quietly as she hurried along beside the front desk. Day one since she had left like a thief in the night, and her parents were ballistic. What a bad daughter she was, her mother's shrill tone declared. Her mother's voice, she knew, had a particularly unpleasant tone when she was upset and had raised it to match her level of anger. Her father on the other hand had remained mostly silent.
This was unusual, if she was honest. Undoubtedly, he had been yelling previously and probably just had a sore throat. Mirin's parents were always like this, always fighting, always yelling. Nothing she did was ever good enough, and everything she tried was always a source of trouble. It would have been more comfortable to take the call in the comfort of her own hotel room, but it was late and her roommate was trying to sleep. She couldn't bare to have the cameras catching her in this moment of vulnerability. The moment when she would face the music, as it were, and speak to her parents.
They were more than just furious, yelling, demanding that she come back home immediately. What was she here for in the first place? This was stupid, there was no future in a move like this! Mirin had spoke quiet words of affirmation toward each insult. Yes, this was stupid. Yes, she had no place here. She was meant for better things. No, she did not want to become a harlot drug addict and die at an early age. But what did she want? No, they never asked her this.
"Umma... I can't just leave, I have a contract..." Mirin whispered into her mobile device. It was pressed into her cheek so hard, she was thankful the sleek surface was not able to leave a mark. An hour went on like this, the girl bravely holding back her tears in effort to keep herself composed. Not once had she raised her voice, not once did she lose her calm expression, even as her eyes welled with the tears she refused to let fall and her fist tightened painfully in her lap. Finally, it was over.
Her chest still throbbed with painful tightness as she tried to feel her way as silently as possible from the elevator and through the hall to her room. She hated the dark, hated it. But that was a childish fear, Mirin reminded herself, trying to hold together her carefully constructed facade just a little bit longer. She could sleep, and then everything would be okay. Or rather, that was the plan... Until she heard footsteps. Mirin felt the air around her turn cold, the color draining from her face. Something was out there... She was sure of it. But she could hardly see a thing in the dark. Tentatively she moved toward the shadow. Like those moments in horror movies, every voice of reason she had ever heard in her life screamed Don't go down the hall! but she what choice did she have? Hide in the emergency stairs all night?
Coming up upon the shadow, Mirin prepared for the worst. I'm not scared, she told herself. Cho Mirin is not afraid of things like ghosts... or murderers... or... or...
A voice broke her train of thought, the figure turning round. She could barely make out enough features of a face to realize it was a person, and likely a trainee or other cast member. But reason hardly had a place in her fear-struck mind. Frozen immediately in place, Mirin could hold up the act no longer. Her eyes watered, her lips quivering as tears began to trail down her cheeks. "Y-You idiot!" She wailed, her hands forming fists. "What kind of moron sneaks around in the middle of the night?!" Mirin cried, hitting him on the chest with both her hands before she had realized what she was doing.

"It's ridiculous!" Mirin exclaimed, the sweet sound of honest laughter filling the air around her for just a moment before she realized that she was no longer alone. Turning quickly to see who was there, her wide, startled eyes looked rather like those of a deer caught in headlights. "I...I mean...It's undignified." Mirin sniffed, trying desperately to forget that she had shown such an unsightly side of herself to a total stranger. "We are trainees, aren't we? This sort of thing is so demeaning. Running around like chickens with their head's cut off..."
But... it did look like fun...
Feeling self conscious, she reached a bit too hastily for her cup, taking a sip in effort to get her nerves. How frustrating! Mirin thought to herself. She was so unaccustomed to speaking to people like this. Her parents would have rolled over dead at the mere thought of their daughter speaking to someone outside of the family. It was just not proper. Not right. But what could she do? He was speaking to her, she couldn't just ignore him. Well... I could. She thought to herself again, closing her eyes and trying to pretend that the tea wasn't so horrible and in fact enjoyable. Her face looked calm despite the thoughts that buzzed in her head. She would navigate out of this somehow... she was sure of it.
"Did you go out to look too...?"

Watching is More Fun || Open
Between the steady stream of messages, a little ping had sounded announcing a strange thing called mission mail. Mirin turned her blank eyes upon the text and idly sipped from a Styrofoam cup. Her lips curled unpleasantly as the hot liquid touched them, the flavor revolting. "Ugh - Tea was not meant to be served like this... I thought this was supposed to be a four star hotel..." She brooded quietly to herself, wiggling unhappily as she adjusted herself on her chair. The lobby was nice enough, she had decided. Just nice enough that Mirin thought having tea here while looking out over the slopes was ideal.
But then, pandemonium struck. The second the text had gone out and phones pinged, buzzed and vibrated, the race had been on. People running this way and that, her quiet seat had quickly turned into grand central station. "Honestly," She chided to herself, turning sulkily away from the cup and shoving it across the coffee table as she curled into the couch seat and looked out toward the slopes. "Making us run around already? They just want to make fools of us all, it makes good television." She continued to sulk, determined to remain in a bitter mood. Bitter like the tea she had tried to enjoy. But it was hard, she had found. How could your mood remain gloomy when strange things were happening all around you? She had to give the producers some credit -- it was fun to watch...

Mirin stared back at him with a look of utter shock. Carry things? Her? Was he joking? He had to be joking. Looking around herself, she tried to see if perhaps he was signalling someone else's aid, but found no one. She had just snickered at the sight, a particular sense of pride puffing out her chest as she looked back to her own sleek wheeled carrier. It was ideal for travel, and of course Mirin was all about efficiency. Her parents, though they wailed and bickered the entire time, were not about to send their daughter out on her own without being properly equipped for the trip.
Oh... Was this karma?
As the camera trained in on her face, this strange boy having attracted the attention of the camera crew with his plight, she was truly in a bind. Idiot... Mirin thought, the most subtle glare icing her chocolate brown hues as she fidgeted from a distance. Her mind blanked out almost immediately as she took in the sight of the bags. They were huge! At least, to a girl of her size they certainly seemed so. This idiot! He was going to kill himself with these things -- or someone else! Nodding her head like a ridiculous bobble head, she hurried over to try and assist. She had the arm-strength of a limp noodle, but she had to at least try right?
"Wh...which should I take?" Mirin asked, her quiet voice trembling with anxiety as she eyed each hefty bag. What was this boy -- a pack rat? Her lips formed a pout, her nose wrinkling with thinly veiled irritation. "Just how much did you pack? Is there a person in there or something?" She leaned forward and tapped the case of one luggage, half expecting the contents to bust out like a party popper's confetti. She tried smiling, but the expression was so rigid and awkward it was practically frightening. She looked nervously toward the camera, then back at the boy. So much for skating under the radar... her camera shy face was being broadcast across Korea right this minute.

Clustered together in the lobby seemed to be the automatic reaction the trainees had. Excited bodies with hurried motions and eager voices, the effect made Mirin imagine a nest of electric eels. Her eyes were fixed upon her phone. Fifteen texts and they were still coming.
Umma...
Sighing softly she decided it best to tuck the phone into her pocket. Out of sight, out of mind, right? She looked to the faces around her, their happiness dampening her spirits further. They were all so... happy. As if this was the best thing to happen to them, or something. She scowled harshly, irritated that so many could be happy, when she herself couldn't. This was their moment, perhaps, but it was Mirin's too. But unlike them, she couldn't have a second to enjoy it. Heat emanated from her pocket, her mother's texts burning a hole through the screen.
In a sudden moment of panic she looked around her to seek out her cousin. Gone. She shouldn't have been surprised. He was the reason they were in this to begin with. Without him nearby, Mirin's anxiety grew.
You idiot... now what am I supposed to do?
Standing up, she set about looking for him. He'd get an earful the moment he was found, that was for sure. As she walked, she passed group after group. How nice. She thought, looking wistfully at them. It seemed that friendships were forming all around her. In passing, she caught the excited tone of a girl talking about what she had planned. Perhaps it was her irritation, perhaps it was her abandonment, or perhaps she just wanted to stop one person from babbling so carelessly, but Mirin had to say something.
"This isn't some vacation, you know." She snapped suddenly, her posture becoming rigid as her eyes turned cold. "We're still in a competition here, no one's going to care what you do. You're nobody as far as anyone knows."

Annyeong~ Mirinnie's Mun here. You can call me Love, 'cause that's what I'm full of! I don't want anyone to think I was ignoring them, I really appreciated the welcomes I received.
Mun has a lot of time on her hands, really. She chills on the dashboard a lot, refreshes a lot. Checks messages a lot. She also really enjoys complex and interesting plots! hint hint?
But more to the point! I just wanted to say hey to everybody and I hope to get to plotting with you all soon. I have aim, which is magical for plotting, just let me know if you want it!
I'm excited to get the ball rolling, so don't be afraid to ask me for plotting! We can probably think up something... right? yes?
Well this has gone on long enough, uwah! So sorry for that.
Let's be one big happy family! Saranghae~
