materials :
Bristol paper 14x17
watercolor
newspaper/college paper
pencil
<Created the face using regular pencil making sure it was in the dead center and mimick the hair as water. Using the newspaper i cut out shades of blues/black in order to create the “water” and layering on top of one another in order to create a gradient. Contrasting the blue with just orange watercolor to give a pop of color>

The subject on my Zine was Roller Skating in the Black Community. This subject interested me because it is actually I recently learned myself about the History behind Roller Skating in the Black Community and having impact on the Civil Rights Movements. The design concept for this was to mainly focus on Black Skaters only how how Rollering SKating impacted them, trying to follow with a more groovy feel and colors to real it give it some life and movement throughout. In the final I also wanted to included resources of where to find more Black Skaters and give brief straight forward information about the history.

Design for Change
The subject of my DFC campaign is Native American struggles. This cause is important to me because as someone who attends American schools, they education systems fails students in teaching the reality of America’s injustices which includes the discrimination/genocide/etc, of Native Americans. Many of americans are actually blinded and unaware of what Native Americans still face today( this also includes Hawaiians as well). The concept originally was to include all types of Native Americans within the campaign and showcase the hardships and discrimination they still face today. Using colder colors for the main posters and warmer for the event to get a different feels to it,And with the Event to showcase a much lighter side about Native American Artist so they can be recognized and seen.
