CHRISTMAS! Almost...

We here at positivewhovians goshdarn love Christmas. And what’s the best part of Christmas? Presents! (For those of you who said family or good cheer, pipe down.) And what’s even better than presents? Presents directly related to the thing you love most!

So here’s a little proposal: a Doctor Who Secret Santa! You fill out the survey (here) to talk about what you’d like to receive (fan art, filthy smut, etc.) and, in turn, you’ll create something for someone else. We’ll match you up with someone who wants to create what you’d like, and vice versa. Here’s our timeline:

October 22nd-November 1st is the time the survey will be open and able to fill out. You will not be able to submit a survey after that date. On November 1st, we’ll send you a private message telling you your recipient and what they’d like created.

November 1st-December 1st is the creation period. Write your fic, compile your playlists, create your art. It seems like a long time but people are busy and those in school will have finals coming up.

December 1st-December 25th is the giving period! Submit your works to their intended recipients! If by December 25th you have not received anything, drop us a message and we’ll deal with it.

Everything should be relatively clear, but if there are any questions, hit up our inbox and we’ll get back to you pronto.

Final note: don’t be discouraged from signing up just because you think you may not be “good enough”. I know sometimes it’s hard because you look at other people’s art or fics or whatever and think that you could never do anything like that, but practice makes perfect, and this isn’t a competition. As anyone who’s been around small children knows, the joy of receiving has little to do with objective quality and lots more to do with “wow, this person put time and effort and thought into making something for me”. So chin up, and sign up!

EDIT: My apologies, I’m a damn idiot who forgot to include in the survey that you put your URL in. If you already completed the survey, as one person did, please message me with your URL or retake the survey!

I’m a girl. I’m a feminist. And I love Moffat’s Doctor Who, because, among other reasons, it is feminist. Its female characters have more strength and dignity and agency and complexity than any other work of fiction I know.

I want to be River Song, who at her weakest can still tear the fabric of time apart through sheer force of will—whose love makes her strong and whose age makes her gorgeous. I want to be Amy, messed up and struggling and abrasive and still totally worthy of love—who comes through the flames as a dragon and finds in her guilt great compassion. I want to be Clara, whose fear makes her strong, who dreams and who stays and who knows what she needs.

Or maybe I don’t. Maybe I want to be like Kate Stewart—or Liz X—or Nancy—or Nasreen Chaudhry—or Jenny Flint—or Journey Blue—or Rita—or Sally—or Courtney—or Vastra—or Osgood—or—or—or—
