get in bitches we're documenting In The Starlight
(I'm working though a backlog of ITS entries because I started drafting these up a few months back, got distracted around the 2006 point, and forgot about it entirely until someone was like "hey uh you sure do have a lot of drafts". So there's still a bunch that need to be published or I haven't even started yet, but enjoy.)

Day 16 - Lolita 52 Challenge - 10 facts about my wardrobe
1- My storage system is a complete mess lmaoo, I have a small wardrobe for dresses, skirts and blouses, a box for shoes, my petti hangs from my curtain rail, but I’m investing in some better solutions ^^; Student housing you can’t decorate is difficult.
2- I own maybe one ero jsk (2 pc), how scandalous!
3- I do have a slightly less wide Lady Dimitrescu hat that I’ve managed to make loliable
4- Most of my dresses are too short (I am usually 6′1″ in a full coord) and I do not care, what are you gonna do? Put me in skirt jail??
5- The majority of my shoes are from thrift or hand-me-downs, and I love them
6- About half of my entire wardrobe is black and white only. The nun vibes go hard.
7- I still have and wear my first dress. It’s 6 years old now!! She’s holding up well!!
8- The oldest item I have is a Wallis velveteen coat from 1985. Hand-me-downs are excellent :))
9- I think I own more earrings than anything else. I love a good pair of big earrings! (My ears have stretched from 6 years of wearing heavy jewellery for too long)
10- My favourite dress in my possession is one of my oldest, and isn’t exactly from a big name brand. Dancing Roses from Surface Spell with it’s blue rose embroidery is just so nice, the lack of anything too fancy on the back and the jewellery on the front makes it sleek and not too over the top, it fits well and

Day 15 - Lolita 52 Challenge - 3 things I wish I knew when I was new
God it was a long time ago now though, let’s see...
1- I wish I knew how to save money for it aha, I’ve only recently been able to save for it recently because I finally learnt to, and I took more shifts at work to afford more pieces, if I saved back then I feel I could have expanded what I have a lot more. 2- What old school was! I didn’t know the history well back then at allllll, and now I’m in love with that older style, and it’s what I’m most comfortable in. I could have found my style a lot quicker if I’d looked at the history more 3- Don’t take it so seriously!!!! Clothes should make you feel comfortable and confident not anxious. While, yes, there are stricter rules for egl than other styles, there is not perfect one way to wear it. I hope that now concrit has died down a little, baby bows can be more comfortable wearing it...

Day 14 - Lolita 52 Challenge - Lolitas I would like to meet irl
(I am afraid of y’all fr)
I’d love to meet any lolitas irl, but I just find it very difficult. I’d feel awkward naming any specifically, but there are plenty I know online that I would be ecstatic to meet!

🖤Witch Sisters🥀 This photo is from the end of 2021, so I figured I may as well post it. Neither of my sisters really wear lolita fashion, but they do have some adjacent fashion interests and are certainly willing to dress up with me! I helped purchase this Boz style jacket for one of my sisters, and lent my other sister an outfit such that we could wear complementing/matching outfits all together. It’s always fun to look like a haunted tag team, ahaha.
Outfit breakdowns?:
Left: Mostly offbrand that I don’t know the source because it’s my sister’s own clothes, but the jacket is AcYut Horizon (Taobao brand)
Middle: JSK Juliette et Justine (Parfum du Bonheur), blouse Mary Magdalene, jacket Atelier Boz, shoes Fluevog
Right: JSK Mary Magdalene (Fleur Chiffon), blouse Innocent World (? if I remember correctly), with Innocent World vest on top + jacket by Visible Milky Way (Taobao brand), socks & shoes offbrand

Day 13 - Lolita 52 Challenge - Lolitas I’ve met IRL
Ahaha long time solo lolita here. Before I went to uni, I had never met another lolita in person. I only met one when I was 19, and I was super anxious to be confronted about my coord. I always feel like I will be heinously judged for my coords by other lolitas so meeting other lolitas irl is really hard for me. I got a few of my friends into the fashion though! So they count ^^ And they’re helping me to get out of my shell to interact with other lolitas more.

Day 12 - Lolita 52 Challenge - Combining other fashions with egl
I don’t think I tend to blend that much into my own personal style, as I find my variant of egl to be a substyle of goth anyway. Possibly if someone blended trad in quite strongly with egl, that would be pretty cool, and I’d love to try that out! Same with a combination of egl and cult-party, making ivory/shiro coords with gothic elements (love me a rosary sm) and things like a peignoir. It already shares a wider skirt silhouette, so making it a tad wider with a petticoat wouldn’t change it too much, but blend it enough with those ‘sleepy’ elements and the high-waist would work super well! Some styles that I really like seeing combined with egl that I wouldn’t personally do would be things like Mori or the fashion aspects of menhera. There’s quite a lot of medical themed pieces and I truly think they work quite well! I like seeing that particular combination. Mori is particularly easy to blend with classical egl, as lace is a nice tie together, and the palette can be the same, but making it more casual and adding more layers with cardigans would be a nice blend I think!

Day 11 - Lolita 52 Challenge - 3 trends I wish would come back
Bro, like, all of them! But if I have to choose a top 3... 1 - Velveteen!!!! It’s the ultimate fabric! I love all my velveteen pieces, from dresses to head bows, it works with so much! I’m not the biggest fan of prints so having an interesting fabric instead helps to elevate it a little more, I think 2- BIG SHOE. CLUNK CLUNK. If I am not 4 inches off the ground, am I really walking? I just really like big shoes, big chunky mary janes or platforms, or even better, rocking horses, they’re just perfect. 3- Proto-egl stuff blending nicely with other harajuku styles at the time. I really love seeing the interesting ways people could incorporate the fashion into their own style!
#i just want it to be a street style again broooo im going to tesco not the oscars#52 days of lolita

Day 10 - Lolita 52 Challenge - How I first found out about egl fashion
I grew up with my mam being an ex-goth and my dad still being quite an extravagant goth (until I started to like, out-goth him, whatever that means). So I got a lot of old hand-me-down items from my mam back in the day, and I was raised to appreciate the goth scene primarily, with the music background and stuff. I always wore black and was drawn to more lacey sort of standard ‘mall goth’ stuff back when I was about 10. I found egl when I was probably 12 or 13? I was trying to look at different goth styles that I could branch out into, to help me find myself through clothes at the time and I found egl through like, a list or something like that. I instantly fell in love with it, it was a mixture of everything I loved about clothes so I wanted to pursue it as much as I could!! 7-8 years later, I am still wearing it, so I guess it was the right decision!
#ahh the tales of being raised by gen x#love my goth dad hes such a g#im very grateful that i have supportive parents#52 days of lolita
