Postponing the Apocalypse
101K posts
Amusing posts dedicated to making you stop whatever you're doing and do it later. There's no actual theme for this blog, I simply reblog what I find funny and/or interesting. I love books (in particular Terry Pratchett, Jim Butcher, Neil Gaiman, Brent Weeks, etc), science, and over analysing the shit out of things. Oh I also play Underwater HockeyGay/Aro/American/White

the thing that drives me up the wall about “anti/proship” discourse is that it frames grooming as like, primarily an ideological practice in which the threat is that kids will “think adult/minor relationships are morally ok”. which sure maybe that happens idfk but the thing is that grooming is in practical almost entirely divorced from ideology and is so much more about individual exceptionalism
which I think is especially true for fandom-aged demographics! these aren’t kids who are just freshly learning the basics of right and wrong, most of them probably already generally know what pedophilia is and think it’s bad, it’s just that they’re also particularly susceptible to individualized attention that makes them feel uniquely special and mature.
like. I don’t know. it’s just incredibly frustrating to see people continually talking about CSA like it only happens because the perpetrators and victims believe pedophilia is morally permissible rather than because they think that their own personal circumstances exonerate them and make it uniquely acceptable and not harmful.

No more apologizing for being horny on main. No more horny jail. We’re horny prison abolitionists. No gods, no masters! Wait. Okay maybe a few masters. Alright but no bars will hold us! No whips and chains will — fuck, hang on, let me start again.

I was wondering when it comes to designing creatures, do additional card types affect the designof the card. For example, are enchantment creatures designed to be stronger due to having another type that can be interacted with, or are they made to be weaker since they have additional synergies.
There are positive and negatives, so we mostly cost them the same.

Are colors allowed to turn any input into an in-color output, even if that input isn't something the color normally cares about? For example, could a red card turn any input into damage, and a white card turn any input into life gain?
I’d say the color has more flexibility with inputs than outputs, but there are things out of bounds.

The [prosperity gospel] movement grew, partially because of the typically American interest in practical self-help techniques that will make you successful, and partially because of the universal human tendency to get tired of obediently praying for blessings from God and start trying to figure out how they could order Him to do His job instead.

The destruction of Elam was not the Holocaust, just as the Rwandan Genocide wasn’t the Holocaust or the Cambodian Genocide. The destruction of Elam wasn’t the Rwandan Genocide. The destruction of Elam wasn’t even the Assyrian destruction of Israel a century or so beforehand. The St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre, the anti-Huguenot pogrom that killed between 5,000 and 20,000 people in France in 1572, differed meaningfully from the many anti-Jewish pogroms in the later Russian Empire. The Holocaust wasn’t the same as the Herero and Namaqua Genocide, the mass murder of indigenous people in what is now Namibia by the German Empire between 1904 and 1907, despite the fact that both were carried out by German authorities just a generation apart. Each of those incidents and campaigns of mass violence stands on its own. Their logic was different. They proceeded in different ways, with death tolls ranging from the dozens to the millions. Some were straightforward land grabs in which killing was incidental. Others were ideologically motivated campaigns of murder for which the groundwork had been laid for decades or centuries. Still others were the result of sudden explosions of ethnic or religious hatred against a background of oppression or conflict. But what ties them together, aside from the mass violence, is the fact that utterly ordinary people participated in all of them. It doesn’t take all that much for a baker from Aơơur or a truck-driver from Hamburg to turn into a willing enslaver and killer, even a mass murderer who pulled a lethal trigger hundreds of times, under the right circumstances. If those in positions of authority tell them that it’s acceptable or even admirable, if they’re given the tools and the opportunity to do so, then even the most average people can commit horrifying acts.

Beautiful older woman at the party asks me why such a cute kitten like myself wears a collar despite having no master and I, in turn, ask her if she knows what a Ronin is.

really underrated wigan kebab line: "so it's called a babby's yed because it looks like a baby's head? If you... if you crack it open?" "Yeah but uh... but don't do it! ☝"
