my strongest doctor who opinion from which all my others flow is that the show is fundamentally at its best when the doctor is neither straightforwardly heroic nor admirable. the doctor should be a self-absorbed douchebag loser in a shitty car backpacking through the universe like a european student but somehow more chauvinistic. and then when they are heroic it should be because simply at their heart they are 1. a chronically nosy meddler who can't leave well enough alone and 2. and this is the important part, a fundamentally decent person despite all their flaws who will always try their best to help.

But, it also felt to me to do an awful lot of the glue that no one wanted to do - because it was easy to do 'set piece scenes' and written on a kind of... on the kind of plot somewhere, you know: 'get A and B to F' and ' X and Y have got to see T'. And then, well, that really is about 3000 words where you have to move people around and then, you know, shove extra bits in. So I ended up probably probably doing near 75% of the book.

Age gap between the Doctor and Rose

According to “A Brief History of Time Lords” by Steve Tribe, a Time Lord’s average lifespan is 4,000-5,000 years. In 2005 the average human lifespan was 77.4. Rose’s age when she meets the Doctor is 24% of her lifespan. Using the lower end of the time lord lifespan, the Doctor is 22% of that. So, in Time Lord years, Rose and the Doctor are roughly the same age. When accounting for species differences, they are in the same life stage when they meet. The Doctor would actually be the equivalent of a 17 year old human and Rose is the equivalent of a 960 year old time lord. So it’s not weird or creepy.

It’s an archive old stories are still meant to be found and read. Please think about interacting with the fic you read: at least kudos if you read it, a comment would be ideal. The authors will be over the moon. I guarantee you not a single author is going to ask why someone is commenting on an older fic.
