I was born and raised a Sox fan, so it’s really cool to be here,(The national anthem) was nerve-wracking, to say the least. I sing. That’s what I do. But I’ve never sung a cappella in front of 30,000 people. Usually it’s the guys and me playing loud, chaotic music. I didn’t want to do anything silly (with the anthem) or sing a remix. I went at it like ‘Don’t screw it up. Those are die-hard baseball fans watching you.’ Chicago is an unforgiving place. I talked to a buddy of mine and he was like ‘No, don’t get it right. If you get it right, nobody will watch it on YouTube.

The one thing about being a band that sings about the ills of society is that you kind of have a bottomless well of inspiration, because society is constantly letting you down and therefore constantly giving you fuel for another record. As soon as we live in a utopia, I’ll hang my hat and be happy to do so!

You can never tell anyone, especially your mom. Because if you do, one morning you’ll wake up, and you won’t be in your bed.

Where will I be?

You’ll be outside the walls, far, far away tied to a tree. And you’ll scream and scream because you’ll be so afraid. No one will come to help, because no one will hear you. Well, something will hear you. The monsters will come. The ones out there. And you won’t be able to run away when they come for you. And they will tear you apart and eat you up all while you’re still alive. All while you can still feel it. And then afterwards, no one will ever know what happened to you. Or you can promise not to ever tell anyone what you saw here and then nothing will happen. And you’ll get cookies. Lots of cookies.
