Hi, I'm 25 and debating starting male-to-female HRT. However, I'm scared that HRT won't help me at all. It seems like HRT does so little after puberty, especially by the time one gets in their 20s. I'm really scared that I'll just end up being someone in a male body, but with breasts. Is there anything you can say to someone having this fear? Thank you, and sorry, I suspect this is a silly question.

Actually, the claim that HRT doesn’t do much after puberty is a myth.  I started when I was 31 years old and now I’m 35. =)

Police arrested 18 people Friday as they continued to enforce an injunction against blockades set up to prevent old-growth logging on southern Vancouver Island.

The RCMP say in a statement that officers on their way to a protest encampment near Port Renfrew, B.C., found a group of people lying down across a forest service road, including several who had locked themselves down, and made 14 arrests.

Two of those people had previously been arrested for breaching the civil injunction granted to the Teal-Jones Group on April 1, and police say they’re now being held in custody to appear before the B.C. Supreme Court in Nanaimo at a later date.

They say another four people were arrested throughout the day as police and specially trained personnel removed them from locking devices.

Canada wasn’t killing Indians because of our cultures; it was killing Indians to get rid of the “Indian problem” as Indian Affairs officials kept referring to it. Commentators often refer to Duncan Campbell Scott’s quote regarding Indian policy in Canada as proof that the intention was assimilation and not elimination. Scott was the deputy superintendent general for the Department of Indian Affairs from 1913 to 1932, who explained in 1920:

“I want to get rid of the Indian problem….Our objective is to continue until there is not a single Indian in Canada that has not been absorbed into the body politic and there is no Indian question and no Indian Department.”

However, there is more to the story than this. In 1907, Dr. Peter Bryce, the Chief Medical Officer for the federal government, wrote a report on the conditions in residential schools that detailed the astounding number of deaths of Indian children in those schools.

The government’s own lawyer also warned Canadian officials in 1907:
