Movement is simple but very effective exercise during pregnancy. Keeps your body fit, heart strong and your muscles toned. Reduces the risk of complications during pregnancy and delivery shortening the duration of labor It burns calories, which helps prevent excess weight gain. Don't allow you movement to be restricted during ANY stage of pregnancy or labor, unless imminent. #ahmaslove #excersise #pregnancy #laborprogress #labor #doula #lactation #naturalbirth #unmedicatedbirth https://www.instagram.com/p/CMeubiPDilw/?igshid=6kneo1f0zota

✋🏾✋🏾 LET'S TALK ABOUT IT. Cesarean surgery IS NOT always a requirement if baby isn't in the ideal fetal position. There are techniques; movements & maternal position that can assist with proper descent & rotation. Please be informed, do your research. Here’s to the mother’s whom experienced a rushing of labor set on by health care professionals.  Please don’t feel like your body isn’t capable, trust in your “Power to Birth”. The most important progression you can make is in the mind. Surrendering to the contractions grants your body the ability it needs to progress at it’s optimal opposed to tensing up and fighting against the surge. Remember that little progress is still PROGRESS. Your mind and body is guiding your baby through the birth canal into the world.  Our Creator designed the female body in a way specifically to birth our little blessings. The assumption that birth should be immediate (calculation of any time) after you’ve reached a 8cm in dilation is absurd. There are many factors that go into the progressing or slowing down of labor. I will talk about those factors in another post. However dystocia(difficult labor) is a real thing. Don’t stress, don’t worry; no seriously! It has been proven that the emotions have the ability to completely stop labor. I am here as YOUR doula to provide you with the confidence and factual education that your body has the “Power to Birth“.  Be fearless, be confident.   1)    Ripens – cervix becomes more pliable, flexible. 2)    Position – the cervix gradually moves from posterior to anterior. 3)    Effacement – the cervix shortens and becomes paper thin. Measured in 2 way % and centimeters of length ( Do not confuse with cervical dilation) 4)    Dilation – the opening of the cervix also measured in cm. Occurs with progression contractions. 5)    Flexion – baby’s chin begin to tuck into chest and his/her head rotates. (Makes it easier to come through the birth canal) 6)    Descent – also known as station, this lets us know how far above or below the mother’s mid pelvis the baby’s head is. Measured in cm and ranges from a -4 to +4. All of these things MUST take place before the birthing stage, so please MOM’s don’t be pressured into believing your body is on a time schedule. Allot yourself the time to sit back and enjoy all the highs and lows, every moment of the process. I can guarantee it is MUCH worth it. #doula #laborprogress #fearless #powertobirth (at Metro Detroit) https://www.instagram.com/p/CK5XJvwjGgO/?igshid=zgadf6ynbit2

My favorite sequence for folks with epidurals, no matter the fetal position and no matter what’s going on in their labor. Though, I call it something a little less eloquent than the #rolloversequence - I call it the #RotisserieChicken. . . . #midwifery #obstetrics #midwife #optimalfetalpositioning #fetalpositioning #spinningbabies #opbaby #occiputposterior #pennysimkin #laboranddelivery #laboranddeliverynurse #rn #nursing #continuousfetalmonitoring #efm #intermittentauscultation #ia
