The Finale

The Finale

After that devastating night of losing everything Joker went on a rage hunt to find Harley but he came up short every time. No matter what he did she was 10 steps ahead of him. It’s like she knew every step he was going to make before he made them. Joker was losing and it was tearing Gotham down. It was a warzone outside the way Joker and Harley had been going at it. Whenever one played a trick the other upped it and it always ended in violence. It’s a wonder they both still stood but little did everyone know, Joker was feeling weak for the first time. The woman he loved, he turned into a monster and the only thing that was left to do was to get rid of this monster. Harley had to go and as terribly as he treated her, it broke his heart.

“I heard you were looking for me.” Harley’s voice rang through the empty garage Joker had been hiding in.

“How did you find me?”

“Find you? Baby, I never lost you.” She said with laughter that made his skin burn. 

“You look a mess. It’s hard without me huh?”

“I MADE YOU!”

“YOU DESTROYED ME! And you took credit for everything I ever did for you! I MADE YOU!”

“Harley don’t you dare!”

“Or what? You gonna kill me?”

Joker took a step back realizing he was looking in a mirror. He’d driven her to insanity. But who knew him better than he did. 

He smiled making her face drop. “No I’ not going to kill you.”

Before Joker’s goons could grab Harley she hit them both over the head making them drop to the floor and she pointed her bat towards Joker who was trying to rush her. 

“What are you gonna do huh? Hit me with your bat? Go ahead. Take your best shot. The Batman couldn’t kill me and neither can you.”

Harley dropped her bat quickly pulling a gun from her shorts making the Joker smile wide. 

“This is what it’s come to huh? Me or you. You really think you can be anything without me? Even with everything you’ve done you still need my name to prosper so why don’t you just put the gun down and come on home. We can rebuild Gotham together like we always planned. Just me and you.” 

Harley stood firm and never lowered her gun. “Fine then do it.” Joker grabbed her gun placing it on his forehead. “Do it! What are you waiting for?! DO IT!”

POW!

The gun went off and Joker’s body hit the concrete. He took his last breath with a smile and his eyes buried into Harley.

“That’s my girl.”

Harley picker bat up and walked away from his body as if he meant nothing. After all that’s happened, the things they’ve done to each other there was no coming back. She knew it was him or her and she knew it could never be him.

One year later…

“Look at this. Look at me. Look what I’ve done.” Joker stood marveling his name being placed on Bruce Wayne’s building in Gotham city. Once again, his love was by his side but it was different this time. 

“I see it Puddin’. You did everything you said you would. Gotham is yours.” Harley spoke with a fake smile. 

“Second biggest night of my life.” 

“What was the first?” 

“Killing The Batman. He was the only thing in my way.” 

Harley simply nodded. “I’ll see you at home Puddin’.”

“Where you going? Don’t you want to celebrate?”

“Of course. I’ll meet you at the cub then.” 

Joker nodded but watched her every move until she was out of his sight. He snapped his finger and someone appeared within seconds. “Follow her.” 

Harley Quinn was followed for hours. Joker was made of her every move and the more information he got the angrier he got. The angrier he got the more the wheels in his head began to turn. Puddin’ was gone and Joker was out to play. Little did Harley know this would be her first and last time crossing him. 

Joker sat in his VIP completely detached from his surroundings. The only thing on his mind was Harley. A part of him wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt but when she never showed up to his celebration he knew something was up. 

“Boss come quick!” He heard someone yell. Just then a huge explosion caused the building to shake. People starting running and screaming not knowing what was going on. 

Joker ran out of the building quickly and what he saw before his was the last thing he’d ever see. His brand-new headquarters in flames. Smoke began to cover half of Gotham’s skies and another explosion caused more chaos. 

“You should have never treated me that way Puddin’.” Harley voice filled the area. “Look what you made me do? I just wanted to love you and be treated as an equal but you wanted it all to yourself.” Her voice went from sad to angry. 

Joker looked around but Harley was nowhere in sight but you couldn’t miss her voice. It’s like she was on every speaker in the city. 

“I did everything for you. I gave my life to you and you treated me like I was just something to look at when it was all me! I made this possible! You wouldn’t have any of this if it weren’t for me! Tell the world what a coward you really are. Tell them how I saved YOU! Who really killed Batman?” 

A spotlight came on out of nowhere finally revealing Harley. 

“Why the long face Puddin’? Remember what you said to me a year ago today in the car? You said you owed me, that you made me who I am today well… here I am. Am I everything you dreamed of?” 

Joker stood in shock as his building went up in flames. For once he was speechless and for the first time he knew he’d done wrong. He pushed the wrong woman and now It’s cost him everything. 

“Continue to stand there and look dumb. I have much more planned for you. See ya, baby.” A rope from a helicopter dropped taking Harley up and away from the chaos. 

All Joker could do was watch his building burn to the ground. Later that night he found out Harley burned his mansion to the ground as well. She had really taken everything but she wasn’t going to get away with it.

the Beginning of the END

“We interrupt this broadcast to deliver some traumatic news.” A woman reporters voice spoke over the airwaves of Gotham City. It has been reported that our beloved billionaire Bruce Wayne who we just found out today is The Batman has died. His death was confirmed at 2:23 this morning after a devastating battle with The Joker.” 

“You here that Harley? They’re going to remember my name forever!” Joker howled as he hit the steering wheel while going 100 mph through the streets of Gotham. 

Harley Quin laughed and celebrated with her love at the accomplishment they pulled off together.

“I did it. I killed The Batman.” The Joker laughed hysterically still swerving in and out of lanes with police sirens getting closer.

Harley’s laugher died down but she kept the smile on her face. “You mean WE did it, Puddin’. We killed The Batman.”

The smile on the Joker’s face quickly disappeared. “It was my plan.”

“But it was my bullet.” Harley quickly rebutted. “If it wasn’t for me..” 

Her sentence was cut short as Joker pulled to the side of the rode and putting the car in park. Before Harley could react Joker grabbed her face in his hand and stared at her for a moment before speaking. 

“If it wasn’t for me you’re still be a terrible therapist talking to addicts all day. I saved you. I delivered you from that boring life and showed you what life could be if you stuck by me and stayed loyal.”

He paused letting those last words marinate.

“I love you Harley but don’t ever get besides yourself. I own you. You are mine. You gave yourself to me so your accomplishments are mine alone. You just do what you do and look pretty. You understand?”

Harley searched his eyes knowing he meant every word and simply nodded. “Good girl.” 

Joker sped off down the road as the police cars were finally starting to catch up. 

Harley sat back in her seat feeling defeated but she was tired of it. She was tired of the same old routine and feeling boxed in. She wanted more. She wanted the respect she deserved and for the world to look at her as Joker’s equal. She was good for more than just looks and he knew that which is why he tried to control her. 

Tonight was different. Tonight she realized that it was him or her and she couldn’t let it be her. She wanted to live by her own rules. She needed freedom and that’s exactly what she was going to get.
