People forget that the plants weren’t originally compatible with NML’s conditions. There might be a reason for this.

Another Trigun stampede Plant theory :D

First off; the plants were obviously made to be compatible with earth. But what if during their early creation, space travel was never meant to be a thing? They weren’t built for space travel, they were made for earth specifically, to help provide the humans with what they needed so the earth could take time to heal?

But obviously that plan failed. The earth couldn’t heal, so humans were forced to rely on leaving the planet entirely, taking the plants with them. The ships could very easily mimic the feel of earth given how there are bio-domes and gardens present on the ships. The plants were able to live comfortably with all the resources they needed to survive.

But when they crashed onto NML, things changed. They could sense that the environment was different, not at all what they are SUPPOSED to be in. That’s when the plants started having issues— they only started to become unstable overtime BECAUSE of the fall. And you have to remember too that the ships were damaged or just straight up destroyed, so they must know and sense that the recourses that they rely on are no longer available/heavily damaged.

Another reason the plants started to act up was because they knew that the planet wouldn’t be able to properly sustain future generations. There is LITERALLY NOTHING for future children to survive off of, and humans— given how unfortunately greedy they can be— would not care to share recourses with the next potential generation of independent plants. This could be why there hasn’t been another independent plant born after Tesla, knives, and Vash— the plants knew future children would have no chance of survival. So they stopped bearing children entirely.

There’s so many things that don’t work in their favor… the fall was literally the reason why the plants pretty much suffer now.

IM BACK ON MY BULLSHIT AGAIN this time it’s a Nai theory based on this scene.

ANOTHER ANALYSIS involving Tesla is involved, teen Nai too :3

As per my friend @aquariitheorchid suggesting this, I watched stampede again and they said that maybe Nai went through this same ���possession” at some point. Except it wasn’t a dependent plant who used him as a vessel- it was Tesla.

I would not doubt that after (by what I can guess) merging with her, Theres a most definitely possibility that he absorbed at least some parts of her brain. Regaining at least a fraction of her memories, especially those of Conrad.

She was alive. And because of that, she can live through Knives, and in turn use him as a vessel to communicate to a degree. Not only is she looking through Nai’s eyes and speaking through him, she makes a point to SHOW Conrad she’s the one speaking by making her actual eye form in Nai’s blades.

Conrad knew it was her. That’s why he apologized, “forgive me for what I’ve done to you”, and the way he breaks down says it all. Tesla has EVERY single reason to be mad at him and she WANTS him to know that now, as she lives through Nai, Conrad is the weak one now. One she could terminate at any given point.

Uhmmmmm Trigun theory that I wanna share about this specific scene, Vash and the Dependent Plant because it’s really interesting to me

This screen cap has me thinking… why does Vash look so out of it here? When we see him connect with other plants, he doesn’t look this Inhuman or “shocked”. It’s only during this scene that he seems like that. It’s so peculiar because literally, throughout the entire series, it’s only this scene and when he’s first used a vessel by Knives during ep 11/12 do we see him act this way.

It’s could probably be for dramatic effect but I don’t believe that’s the case here. A lot of scenes in Trigun have a meaning and deeper reason behind it. From what I’ve seen, moments like this always have some underlying reasoning.

We know from previous mentions that this specific plant is an incredibly powerful one, the sand steamer makes a huge deal of it in the announcement/introduction sequence while welcoming passengers on board. So we know for a fact this specific plant is a pretty big deal throughout No Man’s Land if they’re bragging about owning a power-source like that.

I think the reason why Vash seems so inhuman here, so unlike himself is because he’s NOT himself. It’s the plant who’s looking through his eyes, she’s using him as a vessel. We know that Independents can be used a vessel in some ways, she probably (by accident) initiated that kind of sequence. This could have been caused by a “glitch” of sorts— for the briefest moment, accidentally strengthening the resonance/connection, a slip-up. And when she broke the connection, it made Vash pass out, which is why we hear him fall at the end. It took a toll on his body.

She was surprised. It was most definitely her first time doing something like that, and seeing the world AND the gang (Rob, Meryl, ww) in clear vision would obviously be very surreal.

His pupils, markings, and expression match that of a plant’s attitude in a strange way.

The night was..cold. Much colder than what one would expect on a desert planet. The same type of night that would make any well cozied person shiver. Except now, those shivers aren’t what Legato experiences late at night. His shivers are the ones that rattle your skin; making it feel all sorts of wrong and itchy. The kind of shiver that makes your breath come out in puffs. Puffs that try to push out all touches, all pain, all of everything he didn’t-

A sudden gasp pushes him to his feet. The shivers still pull at his skin. Yanking him, tugging him back there. It’s fainter now. Maybe it’s finally walking without weights. Or with a full stomach. Or maybe it’s no harsh tugs on his hair. His hair. He can’t- no. Not now. He is a free man. Cut free, elevated, while they were cut down. Down beneath the feet of an angel. That angel. That angel who brought him here-.

Here.

A hallway. Like it blinked into focus. Materializing out of nothing. No, not just a random hallway. And certainly not that hallway. He had called it the Arc. A simple name for a grand place. A free place. A new place. A place where feet can softly patter down hallways, near aimlessly. Desolate hallways. No humans. No prying eyes. No prying hands-. No. None of that. Today, or tonight, Legato is a free man. That freedom feeds something deep. Like a soft rush that makes his face twitch upwards. Upwards. Like climbing a staircase. Perhaps it was the soft tingling he felt in his hands that led him here. Maybe it was that twinge of power. Of something so unseen yet necessary. A power that basks the large, open room with blue light. Blue, like him. The Angel had called them a ‘PLANT’. He had said they were his sisters. He said they were hurt by humans systemically. Out of greed and lust for power. Like..

oh.

The blanket shields from the shivers. The shivers of cold. Of prying. But now, it shields a small, sleeping form. Tucked away next to a metal base. Safe. A small sleeping form that does not go unnoticed by the inhabitants of that room. Perhaps it’s the reflection in the glass, of a child so much like them. Once stuck, but now free. Perhaps a mirror image. A found bond. It’s through this bond that the sisters welcomingly, lovingly open their cocoons. The sisters, kind and gentle. Poised and confident. Perhaps they could share this with little brother. A brother who even looks like them! Blue hair. Blue like them.

The Angel was disturbed. Soft nudges kept disturbing him. Nudges that came from his sisters. The kind sisters. The hurt sisters. So, arriving like the same wind that blows and scorns the pathetic humans, he steps into a quiet room. A room meant for his sisters and only his-how curious.

“Brother.”

The voices echo in his head, strong and with appropriate flair. The small form, wrapped in a blanket was a noticeable flaw. The opulence of the room disturbed.

“Brother.”

The voices echo again. As Knives’s eyes glance back up at his sisters, now staring down at the resting form. This…disturbance..had never occurred before. Then again, this situation hasn’t happened before as well. It was a fleeting moment, when he decided to help the young boy up. To elevate him to be more than what his captors made him be. Perhaps it was also that same feeling, that disturbance, that caused one of his blades to extend and tuck the fallen blanked back over his new ward.

The Angel leaves the room as fast as a gale whispers in the night. Behind he leaves his family to rest their weary hearts. After all, the new ward was blue, like them.

There is not specific theme for this zine :] just the plants in general!

I highly encourage creative liberty and expression for this zine. Think of it this way:

Speak through the plants. Use your artistic creativity to its fullest! Emotions are a very key part in any artwork in my opinion :) so get creative with it! Display your art pieces the way you want when the zine eventually comes out!

This is my first time making a Zine. To start this year off, I wanted to host a Dependent Plant Zine since no one has seemed to do this yet. I’m still doing research on what goes into a zine, I want to make this as easy as possible!

With that being said; I will of course need some help. Mods, planners, really people who do have experience in making zines I really need your help with this :,D (for the record; I do mind if some of you are adults, I’m absolutely fine with that)

I do not want this to be a profit or anything of that sort, I am not at all good with money or financial things, I’m WAY too scared of accidentally messing something up in that field 😭 I want this to be a simple and fun artist collab sort of deal, free of charge. Because let’s be honest- in this economy? I think NOT.

NOW. With all of that out of the way, here’s some basic info :p

• This is of course a dependent plant zine! Meaning that it will only host artwork of the dependent plants from Trigun (with the exception of the twins making small appearances, but I really just want this to focus on the plants themselves.)

• SAFE FOR WORK. Since I am a minor, I do NOT want any NSFW artwork displayed in any form. Artistic Nudity is allowed, but absolutely ZERO sexual action / suggestive art.

• NO KV/INCEST OF ANY SORT.

• 15+ Zine! Because this zine may include gore, artistic nudity, and other things- only people 15 and up will be allowed to participate.

╰┄➢ Since a majority of participants may be older (20’s, 30’s 40’s even) the zine will no longer just be 15-20. If you’re an older Trigun fan then don’t worry- you can absolutely participate!

• Since Trigun has pretty heavy religious elements, those elements can of course be included in the artwork. I HIGHLY encourage artists to show their emotions through their artwork, religious beliefs and everything included. Whatever you need to get out of your system, please by all means do that through your pieces! Art can be used to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted. /ref

WIP of Dependent Plant Piece I’m working on :] with notes!

- There will be hands reaching out for what I call “The Mother” (place holder title for the main plant in this piece). The hands reaching out for The Mother is a symbol for how humanity depends on plants + the fallen plants who have died at the hands of humanity reach out to The Mother to give her “energy” (life force to keep her alive).

- The Plants reaching for The Mother will be more gentle, affectionately caressing her while the Humans will aggressively grab at her. A metaphor for how humanity’s desperation for survival leads them to harm the plants in the process.

- The baby represents Vash. Innocent, not yet aware of the horrors the world will force upon him.

- The two larger beads on the Rosary will be Tesla’s lost Eyes. Hidden detail.

- This one is pretty obvious but wanted to include it. Since the moon is often a symbol of femininity and womanhood, I decided to include the moons of No Man’s Land for this reason.

- Crying tears of blood is a symbol of grief. The Mother grieves for her fallen sisters, the children lost either during birth / by the hands of humans (referring to Tesla). She grieves for her kind’s oppression, much like knives. This is also why The Mother has an expression/face that almost looks like Knives’ features. Nosebleeds are also a metaphor for suffering as well.

I’ll leave it up to you to figure out what this piece is supposed to represent :]

1. Yes, if you choose to display the twins in their ultimate/dependent forms, please by all means do so! Get creative with it :P

2. Photos of sculptures you’ve created are allowed :] while this is mostly an art-based zine (as in drawings, paintings and whatnot) we will absolutely accept sculptures :3

3. The zine will be completed free! This means free downloads for both participants and viewers alike!
