TBH I don’t think it should be legal to deny your child healthcare based off your own religious belief. I’m sorry. Maybe not my most nuanced take. This isn’t even about Jehovah’s Witnesses and Christian Scientists and sects that do not believe in medical procedures. I am from a super religious area in the south and I have seen so many evangelicals use the “religious exemption” loophole to avoid vaccinating their children while still allowing them to attend youth activities or school. Like, I don’t recall any part of Baptist doctrine that supports that and furthermore your right to religion should not supersede your child’s right to not die of a preventable illness.

We’ve seen even more extreme cases with evangelical sects where children have been neglected to death during ‘exorcisms’ or faith healing attempts and these cases rarely make it to trial even though the parents (and often religious leaders) directly caused the death.

And I am absolutely not saying ‘snatch babies from their home due to their parents religious beliefs’ there was this epic ‘parents rights’ trial where two parents were trying to defend their right to deny their daughter with cancer healthcare and it ended with the state having medical power of attorney over the child and the parents still having physical custody. Which is probably the best call in many of these situations. Parents should not have a right to neglect their children to death.

I want someone to explain to me why detransitioners’ personal mistakes and regrets about their own life choices and their own bodies should be used to dictate the type of healthcare I can get as an adult disabled trans person.

“what if you regret it too?!?!?” you made that choice for yourself and you can live with the regret on your own and find a way to cope on your own. It has nothing to do with me. I have been on Hrt for 11 years and I’ll only stop when I’m dead. Do not dress up your regret in my clothing and call it mine, it’s creepy and gross

i think this small interaction says everything about my parents and why i love one and not the other. so i assembled a little lego parrot. my mom said "thats so cute! such a nice parrot" and my dad said "wouldve said it was nice if you were 4 years old"

unwoke or whatever but I think cheating is abuse. human relationship are flexible and humans are perhaps not lifelong monogamists by nature but cheating in what was supposed to be a monogamous relationship is a breach of trust and often a deep wound inflicted on your partner. I’m not one of those freaks who thinks ‘cheating should be illegal’ or whatever but I really do not empathize with cheaters. even if your relationship is in shambles, end it cleanly before you start fucking someone else. bringing a third party in is a great way to make things much worse, much more vitriolic and much more complicated.

Doctors purposefully give people very conservative life expectancy estimates because it is better for the person to have their affairs in order long before it is necessary than to be shocked by how rapidly their health is declining. This should be obvious but you would not believe the amount of people who are like “My father was given 3 months to live 5 months ago. This is proof all doctors are idiots and stupid. Look at him. He’s fine.” pan to a guy actively doing the death rattle.
