i think the thing overall that made the canto feel a bit "less climatic" compared to other ones is just kind of the fact. hong lu sort of reached a conclusion/next step to his arc. in part 2.
every other canto had incredibly emotionally-driven final bosses that were a really big changing point in the character's attitudes and it just felt kind of. Weird for hong lu's to have happened just kind of by saying something he thought he couldn't before when he hadn't actually confronted any direct offenders for past trauma in his life.
like everyone was joking about "hong lu distortion" but quite frankly it just Felt natural that'd happen given he was set up to have one of the worst and set-in-stone mindsets of any sinner due to his past and it just felt weird he was kind of just. Able to accept he Could do things differently
like i still really like the canto and part 2 is one of the best and i have absolutely no issues with how everything was set up i just so wish there was a properly climatic ending for hong lu's character like the others...
I know 100 people have probably already asked this, but, given that quite a lot of your predictions for Hong Lu ended up being wrong, how did you feel about the actual way the chapter played out?
I suppose enough time has passed for this post to not need a spoiler warning.
Overall? I liked the Canto, but I felt like it could have been more. I wasn't exactly disappointed per se, but I do feel like something was missing that could have made it jump from good to great.
I loved Part 2 a lot, it was the best Part 2 out of every Canto, but I felt like the pacing on Part 3 felt off by comparison. It didn't feel as climactic compared to other Cantos if that makes any sense.
Otherwise I don't have much more to say, surprisingly enough. I enjoyed what was there despite everything.
