this blog has been a side blog for tootie frooties this whole time, and its gotten a decent amount of followers.  but its annoying when i want to reblog stuff to it, so im thinking i might just

remake it as a seperate blog so i can send asks from it and reblog stuff to it.

but im pretty sure id be starting all over followers-wise.

It’s getting to be that time of year again-time for me to fundraise for the excellent cause, Extra Life!

For a few years my dad had been working at Rainbow Babies and Children’s hospital and was a part of this program called the Rainbow Channel. He was a digital communications specialist but got to be with the kids with the Rainbow Channel doing game shows and live events with guests. We have had superheroes come and princesses and plays and all these great things to help distract the kids from what they are struggling with there in the hospital. Rainbow has Child life specialists and music/art therapy to help the kids too and have games rooms, all to help these kid have fun while they’re stuck there. Thing is those programs and stuff they do there aren’t covered by insurance but are needed to help those kids keep their heads high in their battle with the illnesses they are going through. For a few years, I had volunteered at the hospital, in various ways-bringing books and magazines to older patients and just being there to keep them company, coloring with children in the waiting rooms to help them feel less nervous, and bringing crafts to kids in their rooms who can’t leave to play with others.  I would also help my dad setting up shows and playing with the kids, but of all the volunteer opportunities I’ve had, Extra Life has been my absolute favorite, and I’m so happy I get to participate again this year. I’ve done this a couple years now, mostly helping out, and this is my second year actually raising money for the event.  For those who don’t know, Extra Life is a charity created to provide support for hospitals in the Children’s Miracle Network, all around the world.  It involves gathering friends, family, and as many people as you can-either for donations, or to join you in the event-and you play video games for 24 hours straight.  It’s a fun way to raise some money for your local hospitals, and my dad has taken it a step further-by including one of the hospitals in the Children’s Miracle Network, and making it fun for all the kids!

On November 6th7th, the event will take place.  In the hospital, there is a big entertainment area, and, with the help of sponsors and donations, we bring all kinds of fun games for kids to play.  We have had Xboxes, Wiis, ping pong, an arcade game system, and a variety of board games, all thanks to the help of sponsors-like Microsoft! But this is not what it’s all about.  This is about the children.  And the reason we’re doing all this is so we can gather donations to support this amazing hospital. So what can you do?  Well there are two things you can do.  You can donate to our team-which has my dad, my sister, my brother, and I, and a family friend, whose son has been at Rainbow and is very grateful for their support.

But Hannah, you said there were two things I could do?  What else can I do to help? Well, dear reader, you can participate in this event!  It’s super easy to register, and you can support hospitals around you as well!

In order to do so, you can go to Extra Life’s website here,  and register and create your own profile!  You can either find a local hospital to help, or join our team, Team Rainbow!  I really suggest this method, as it’s a very fun event, and I’m sure you can create a team of your own and play for 24 hours with friends and family of your own!
