Thinking about how in old art, Husk is often portrayed as absolutely hating Travis's existence. Like it's such a random beef but the more I think about it, the more sense it gets lmao Travis is an super pervert seemingly obsessed with simping for Angel (despite the literally first scene of the fucking pilot having call him a slut when Angel tells him to keep their encounter under wraps- so he is also an incel, basically) and now he is downright the DIRECTOR of his films....you know, that stuff where Angel gets brutalized and it can escalate from a shitty porno to a snuff film? That one.

I like to think that the Husk/Travis beef is still canon and that he not only despises Travis because he is a pervert that doesn't respect the fact Angel just fucked him because it's his literal job- but also because he sees him as an extension of Valentino, an extension he can in fact, hurt.

The way his body language completely changed??? He went from placating to begging in seconds. A fake, almost hysteric smile on place, hands raised in the air as a surrender doing his absolute BEST to placate Val's ire-and then, the smile falls, worry overcomes his features and he is grabbing Val's hands on a futile attend to get him to sympathize.

YOUR LINE ABOUT ANGEL'S INNER THOUGHS- SO REAL.

We need to have a serious discussion about how Angel perceives Val as his responsibility despite being his literal slave (and on the power scale, a regular Sinner) - he was getting dragged across his own room, he was begging Val to no hurt Charlie. That even on his Big Moment™ at the club he did agree he was Val's property at the studio cause that is what he signed for- but he wouldn't let him lay a hand on his friends. He wouldn't had stand up to Val if Nifty wasn't on the line, he is still terrified of this guy- but he feels is up to him to make sure nothing remotely good gets tainted by him.

Putting aside Angel's protective nature for a moment- I think it's fascinating how he is fixated on making sure everything just....stands stagnant. Charlie could had easily destroyed Val but Angel stopped her, constantly looking over her shoulder to make sure his abuser was watching this whole interaction to leave very clear he wasn't planning any conspiracy against him with Lucifer's daughter friends because- well, aside from the obvious abuse that would come his way, that would only give Valentino more reasons to go against his new friends. He wants to escape this guy, obviously- yet at the same time goes the more....er, let's call it, passive way, of self-destruction so "he would be too broken to be used". Direct action means consequences. And other people could get involved. He can't have that, so he would rather ruin himself that have someone come in and try to help him.

It's like a odd mix of pride, protectiveness and....

Conditioning.

Everytime Charlie did anything that pissed Val off he would turn to Angel, like a silent reminder that everything SHE did, HE would pay tenfolds for it. That the moment they are alone the first time that comes out of Angel's mouth are apologizes on his friend's behalf. If anything happens to her or anyone else he would had ingrelled on his brain that HE was the perpetrator whole Val was just the medium.

So his arguably best quality is being exploited, basically.

the contrast between Valentino always standing upright no matter who he is talking to (only ever getting to eye level with Charlie, for obv reasons ) to tower over them and Angel constantly bending his spine to talk eye to eye with another person it's delicious actually.

Do you think that Angel ever defended his most vulnerable co-starts from Val? obviously not in episode 6 fashion but more placating, more "daddy they didn't mean to 🥺🥺 " or just serve as a distraction so Val can forget whatever the hell he was so pissed about.

Because of his protective nature- particularly anything regarding Valentino, and ep4 showcased how he has this..... placating nature thanks to the abuse. Like he would directly apologize for what Charlie did (before getting hit) because he didn't want HER to get hurt- regardless of the fact she is a tenfold more powerful than Val and could easily destroy him and even at the club when he is on his most rebellious stance- he is doing it to protect Nifty. He said so "I might have to put up with your bullshit but you ain't messing with my friends."

And I think it's interesting because (and tragic) because even outside of Valentino, who he might see as his responsibility (notice how everytime Charlie made him mad he turned to glare at Angel? That is conditioning. It's indirectly saying "whatever wrong happens, it falls onto you) Angel is in fact really protective of those he cares about: Saving Pentious in episode 3, saving the eggboy in ep8, pushing Cherrie out of capture way in the Pilot, making sure Nifty wasn't fucking incinerated in episode 5, apparently taking the lead/iniciative in making sure the Hotel was protected in episode 7 (the group hug with him at the middle), his little stunt at the end of ep2 ready to blow Pentious's brains out for letting the Vees (ie Val and his terrible friends who he seems to know a lot about) into the Hotel, seeming to be the more distraught after Charlie with Pen's passing (a lot of these have the snake in some way now that I think about it lmao they were buddies :() and that all seems of be part of how true self- the one that was there before he died.

And Val, like the scumbag he is, exploits that.

Mascarade uses Husk as a mouthpiece to tell us that Angel is extremely self-destructive (water is wet.) but we have to talk about the leghts of it cause?? I am sure this counts as some form of self-harm cause what do you mean he checks his abuser's voicemails after feeling lightly rejected by Charlie; what do you fucking MEAN he is dandy with frequenting places he knows WILL GET HIM ROOFIED-

I was thinking of established Huskerdust again and I stumbled across drama potential-

Ok so- in ep2 we are shown that Val didn't let Angel flirt with anyone that wasn't a potential client (how shocking I know) AND that when upset, Angel either drinks himself to oblivion, gets high or just....hear Val's messages. Which often leads to the former anyways. It's a cycle, y'all know the gist.

I genuinely believe that Husk wouldn't give a shit that his partner is a sex worker. He DOES care he is safe obv, but other than growling/glaring at randos at the street that say the nastiest shit imaginable while Angel is.... existing, he respects Angel's autonomy and trusts him enough to know that he is a professional, and that he only makes love to him.

Angel at the other hand, is all kinds of fucked up. He had been told for years that his duty was to get as many clients as possible- but he was on thin ice anyways due to Val's possessiveness. So he was always walking on eggshells based on what Valentino he had to deal with that day: the greedy pimp that saw him as little more than a profit machine, or the overly possessive, check-your texes and pin your location and fights with random dudes at the street that say hi- boyfriend.

Angel KNOWS that Husk isn't Val at all- starting by the fact that he had no control over him whatsoever, he could just cut the relationship out- something he obviously couldn't do with Val. But trauma it's a bitch, particularly when you try to cut your eons-long substance abuse, and there are times where these things get mixed on a catastrophic therapy-need explosion.

So there are times when, late at night, Angel would grab his phone and start to read the messages Val sent him- even long past their contract broke. He totally has photos of the two of them before shit hit the fan that he had tried to erase for years- and now that he is an committed relationship, there is little voice at the back of his head that sounds ALOT like Valentino's whispering that he is a *insert the most derogatory, slut-shamy term you can think of here* and that Husk would get tired of it eventually and leave- or snap and turn onto the abusive fest he was used to. And at this point, he doesn't know which one is worst.

It just gets worse when one day he notices Husk was not only awake and noticed what he was doing on his phone, but looked so...sad. Like wet kicked kitten sad. Before Angel tries to bullshit his way out of the situation he made up in his head however, Husk clarifies he doesn't see this as Angel refusing to let go of a ex- but as him having been hurt so badly by someone that should had treated him well and he is copying with it (badly), so no- he is not fucking jealous he is just sad about it all. Cue the cuddles and eventually, even if it'd take time, Angel might be able to erase the pics and chats.

In ep5 when Mimzy shows up and Husk serves her a drink he also made one for Angel- without him even asking him to, and both drinks are completely different so it was a deliberate choice- first: obligatory I know what you are, and second it is my hc that ever since the incident in ep4 and learning that Angel gets roofie'd all the time, Husk subconsciously is more eager to serve him a drink. Because y'know- his bar is basically the only one safe in Hell.
