idk i just. i gotta say there is something so powerful about having two alpha male coded characters discussing their emotions on a rooftop while grappling with overt suicidality and having the most alpha of the two not only providing emotional support and words of affirmation but actively endorsing therapy. admitting that he goes and it helps. do you understand how insane that is. they really wrote jack abbot to be in the middle of a venn diagram of suicidal demographics and said we're not going to leave him there, we're going to make him be the one who is advocating for the mental health care of healthcare workers. Do you get this. he's a white male veteran between like 18-50 who undoubtedly has access to a firearm. he's disabled, he works in emergency medicine as an attending and we have no idea what kind of support system he has outside of work. like. that is a man i would be actively worried about in my workplace. that is a man who knows how to kill himself and make it stick. and he's talking about his therapist out in the open. the amount of stigma and internalized masculine ideals and military masculinity he has worked through. do you. do you understand. do you understand what an incredible character jack abbot is. i'm tearing up. robby is terrified someone will find out he has ptsd and panic attacks and jack is telling him it's okay. implying he has them too. it's okay because you came out and went right back in it. you were who we needed you to be, and it wasn't fair and it's okay to not be okay. it's okay to need help. jack. jack abbot said those things.
jack abbot you have my entire heart

Brothers what happened to fetishizing middle aged white men? Less than 300 fanfics on ao3? For bedraggled emergency care doctors that look into each others eyes with tenderness? They have two whole scenes alone together. Back in my day they wouldn’t have even had to LOOK at each other to get 1k works on the archive. Lock the fuck in. Lock the fuck in.

the pitt is crazy from a storytelling perspective because usually you sort of focus on one main plot point and it culminates over an arc so you have the time to have a dramatic chekhov's gun moment but this is one day in the ER so shit just keeps happening and gets resolved and happens again in a disjointed rhythm so instead you get chekhov's gun and chekhov's knife and chekhov's pregnancy test and chekhov's rats and chekhov's fourth set of scrubs and you have no idea when any of them are gonna fire.

i love heather collins so fucking much. she starts her day off at work with morning sickness and dana is the one person who knows she’s pregnant. she shows dana a stroller she’s been wanting for a while and uses the money she won from BETTING ON A STOLEN AMBULANCE!!! (objectively hilarious) to finally splurge and get it. she alludes to having miscarried before (“not until i pass twelve weeks. not this time.”) and it’s so obvious how hopeful she is and how badly she doesn’t want to do anything to jinx it (see: testicular torsion case and the way she opens up to the mom). and then we see her have a few small stomach cramps and she brushes them off so quick but. she knows. and we know. and amidst all of this she helps a teenage girl get the abortion she wants and needs because she’s a damn good doctor. and immediately afterwards goes to the bathroom and confirms that she is indeed miscarrying. and then the 6 year old girl comes in after drowning and they can’t save her and you can see how close she is to crumbling but she steels herself and carries on because there are patients that need her. and THENNN she has to work the case with the surrogate mom !!! and the delivery gets dicey and the baby’s apgar is only 3 and the mom starts hemorrhaging and her mask starts to slip and robby sees it and he knows and they make it their mission to ensure that this mother and child make it out in one piece. and they fucking pull it off. and then she finally lets herself really cry in the ambulance bay. and it’s just so heartbreaking and raw and real. i have so much love for heather collins she is such an incredible character and she deserves the world
