let's face it, Obi-Wan is only a stickler for the rules in comparison to Anakin. this guy thought lightsaber nunchucks were cool as a teenager and jumping out of politicians windows was cool as an adult. he regularly sasses the chancellor of the republic. he saw Anakin and Padmé being super obvious and decided it was none of his business. he sits pussy facing the world in important meetings. hes's a lonely single in your area. he won one (1) fight against a sith lord and decided they were his speciality despite getting his ass handed to him by Dooku multiple times. he's annoying on purpose as a battle strategy. every man he meets desires him carnally and he doesn't notice. he puts one foot on Han Solos ship and is like "damn bitch you live like this" despite having spent 20 years in a desert hole. he gets himself killed to one-up Vader one last time. he's winning the idgaf war

I genuinely don't understand how anyone can look at the Council Scene in the Phantom Menace and think the Council were in the right

Jedi are supposed to be compassionate, right?

so where is there compassion for a recently freed former slave child, who has been separated from everything he ever knew, including his mum who is still in great danger as a slave, after risking his life for people he just met?

like. the council scene is supposed to show how set in their ways the jedi council has become in the prequel trilogy.

they look at a scared child and reject him for being scared because they judge him by the standards of a child raised in the temple.

it is callous, unempathetic and apathetic.

do you know how tiny and vulnerable nine year olds are?

they rejected a nine year old for factors completely out of his control and shunted him off to a war zone because he didn't have enough trauma already.

this is what I mean when I say the PT Jedi order is flawed

I want the Jedi Order to do better! I wish they had learned from their mistakes and treated Anakin with compassion instead of callousness, but canonically that's what they did.

now, if the 'jedi never did anything wrong' can excuse the council's treatment of a child in phantom menace, they are viewing the movie through a heavily biased lens and are blatantly ignoring blaring red flags

a jedi should be compassionate.

they were inflexible and rigid, adhered to conventions that where nowhere in their actual code.

not one of them asked why anakin was scared, or why he came to coruscant, or why his parents had given him up, or even bothered to learn about the huge sacrifice he made.

anakin is at his best self in PM.

it's a tragedy for a reason.

Either nobody read Rogue Planet before it was published or George Lucas is a hell of a lot more subversive that previously thought. I like to go with latter.

OKAy so I read this quote from the RoTS novelization: “I’m going for obi-wan!” “No need.” Anakin whirled to find obi wan right behind him in the act of slicing neatly through the brain case of a droid. “I appreciate the thought, Anakin,” The Jedi master said with a gentle smile. “But I’ve already come for you.” And listen.

I haven’t read the rots novelization but my immediate thought was the only proper response to that is Anakin engulfing obi wan in a hug and spinning him around Right there on the battlefield and anakin being so elated at seeing obi wan that he doesn’t even register what he’s done and obi wan left standing there speechless like 😳😳😳

You and me both, anon, I can just imagine it.

The sight of him, a little dishevelled but still whole and miraculously untouched, makes Obi-Wan seem like a demi-god of ancient legend as he cuts his way through the droids. Maybe it's the way the ambient light hits his sandy hair or the amused twinkle in his eyes as he smiles at Anakin but there is a swell of emotion rising in Anakin's chest and into his throat, all-encompassing and overwhelming.

He takes one step, and another, across the space separating them, his limbs possessed with an ache to hold. He sweeps Obi-Wan up into his grasp, arms wrapped around his waist, and lifts him. He's not light but whatever is fueling Anakin right now he feels like he could lift the entire world. Maybe he even is because somehow Obi-Wan is everything that matters at this moment. That jubilant feeling spreads all the way to his fingers and the top of his head and he tingles all over as he buries his face in Obi-Wan's chest and breathes in the scent of him, musky and sweaty and Temple issued soap. A laugh bubbles up and pops from his lips and suddenly he's laughing with relief as he spins in a pirouette, Obi-Wan's hands clamping down on his shoulders with a squawk.

"Anakin!"

And just as suddenly the feeling rushes out of him, leaving him feeling clean and whole, his worries temporarily forgotten. He drops Obi-Wan back onto his feet with a grin, answering the look of unamused fondness that's painted on Obi-Wan's face. His Master opens his mouth but Anakin doesn't give the oncoming lecture a second thought.

The movement behind Obi-Wan's shoulder has already distracted him, the moment passing like a blink of an eye.

He dances around his Master and slices the droid in twain with a flick of his sabre, barely any resistance on the plasma of the blade. He meets the oncoming surge with renewed vigour and his anxiety lessened. They'll win this battle because they're unstoppable when they're side-by-side, back-to-back.

They will always find one another, the call and the answer, the natural order of things.

Sooooo I had mostly decided this year was going to be my last time making Supes/ Clark pride cosplays. I wanted to do something new (probably Star Wars related?), and I still do, but I’m getting close to done with this year’s pride cosplays, and they’re SO much better than the old versions. I’ve learned a lot in the intervening two years, and the new version looks more distinctly pride-related (instead of just a different color variation), which is super important now. I don’t want to be subtle.

The most unrealistic part of Lycanthropy and Other Chronic Illnesses is Sebastian hating on She’s the Man. When I was in high school, I read Twelfth Night, saw a production of it, and then watched She’s the Man about 30 times over the course of a snow day/ long weekend, because it’s AWESOME
