His smile falters.

It has been, Aladdin can admit, a long time since she last laughed. A long time since, he thinks, she's smiled. Aladdin himself has not laughed either, but it's not as if this is news, nor worth concern. Anna, normally so bright and bubbly and full of life, has done nothing but accompany her shadow everywhere she's gone. She timidly follows in its imprints, doing a devastatingly successful impression.

It hurts to see. It hurts even more to know that he's the one who's caused it.

He's aware that this is not strictly accurate. He knows, logically, that there was very little he could have done to avoid involvement in his own attempted assassination, though it is very difficult to remind himself that this is the case when Anna is trembling in his arms, freshly distraught.

He'd said that he would be safe. That he would see her at dinner. Anna had been afraid to part from him, afraid to let him go unaccompanied, and Aladdin had reassured her, promised her that he would be careful. He had sworn that he was able to defend himself and that there was a surplus of guards posted everywhere. Nothing is going to happen.

Anna hasn't laughed since then. Has only barely smiled.

Aladdin's heart breaks to think of it. He's missed her laugh, and loves her smile. She's lost so much of her sparkle over the past month. He hasn't known her for terribly long—their courtship so short a thing—but even still, in this frigid, foreign land, Anna is his private summer. A warm oasis in a desert of snow. Sunrise and dancing and blooming, beautiful things.

She isn't meant to be weary. She was never made to be so quiet. To finally see her smile and hear her laugh cracks something open in his chest, exposed and aching. It's painful, but only because it is painfully good. Relieved.

There you are. I've missed you.

Recovering, Aladdin offers her a little laugh in return—a huff of air: the most he can summon in the wake of this realization. He hopes it's enough. He hopes he's enough for her.

“Yeah. It does."

PSA, there's a really nasty Discord scam going around rn. If one of your friends DMs you, starting off with a simple "hello" "how are you", may even joke around a little, and then starts asking you to look at a game/project they're working on, don't click the link, don't download anything. If you can reach that friend through non-Discord means, reach out and let them know they got hacked.

One of my friends said the link takes them to a very convincing video game page that has in-game screenshots and stuff, and then gives you an option to download a playtest zip file or something. That download exploits a weakness Discord apparently has for password protected zip files and steals your Discord log-in and changes your account info to the scammer's account info. Two of my friends lost their accounts. Be careful.

saw aladdin on bway again yesterday & caught that Aladdin's mom died two months prior to the musical? which is super interesting actually

In Al's opinion: Heelys, Segway, skateboard, or moped?

this is maybe one of the hardest asks I've ever had to answer and I'm being 100% serious about it

Heeleys: stylish. you look SO swag when you're in em. tripping hazard to the extreme. this adds to their appeal. 1000/10

Skateboard: the vibe is right for Al. modern Al just LOOKS like a skateboarder. it's giving lonely orphan. not as cool as Heeley's as you must carry it around. But, you are able to do tricks. 1000/10

Moped: He could NEVER wield such power. but if he could. my god he'd be unstoppable 2000/10

final answer is Heeleys for their pure chaotic influence
