i dont want this post to be like one of those "if you arent talking about this then you're evil" moral ocd posts but. i gotta talk about this.
i only just today heard about Kumanjayi White, a 24 year old disabled Warlpiri man who was killed by northern territory police on May 27th. He was handcuffed and forced to the ground, face down, with an officers knee on his neck. He was walking around a grocery store, by himself. A worker at the grocery store described him, saying, "One look and you can tell he's got special needs".
A poor and disabled Aboriginal man was killed in the northern territory and i can't help but notice the similarities to George Floyd. Murdered in a public place, knee on the back of his neck. Only difference is i havent heard a word about this anywhere, in the news or otherwise, since it occured 2 and a half fucking weeks ago. where's the anger? i dont like making political posts, i hope this doesnt break containment its just. god its fucking pissing me off right now.

I have some news for members of the united states armed forces who feel like they are pawns in a political game and their assignments being unnecessary.

one of the main notes about how australia is constantly trying to lower the criminal age of responsibility: if you've lived around non-black people in australia, you'll almost certainly hear multiple stories of them being let off the hook for a crime they did as a minor, being given only a warning at the cop's discretion. you'll rarely hear the same story from Black or Aboriginal people, because it's not a grace that they are afforded. the policies around the criminal age of responsibility are certainly anti-youth, but they're first and foremost anti-black policies designed to give the police more power to colonise by convicting Aboriginal kids. it's obvious why the discourse on the news is always focused on youth crime in rural australia, where there are greater proportions of Aboriginal people

australian election is on saturday, and if you still don't know who to vote for or know people that don't care about politics, here's some resources to make voting for your best interests a little easier for you
vote compass - questionaire that asks you about your opinion on policies and current party leaders to give you an idea on where your values sit on an alignment chart
build a ballot - another questionaire, but will take into consideration which electorate you are voting for and provide you with a suggestion on how to number the candidates on your ballot
they vote for you - an archive of every current sitting australian member of parliament, and what they voted for and against
remember, voting is like taking a bus not a taxi. you do not have to agree with every single policy a party is proposing, you just need to vote for the party who is the closest to your values.
no vote is a wasted vote.

Hey Australians,
Use your vote in the best interest of people with less privilege than you.
Do you research to make an educated and informed decision.
Don’t joke vote.
Don’t donkey vote.
Don’t vote just to avoid copping a fine.
If you don’t vote or don’t vote seriously then go donate $100 to a local community/social service org.
Do your research.
Being informed is easy and it’s how we show compassion to others while voting.
Showing empathy and compassion is easy.
Don’t fuck this up.
Put the effort in.

I doubt this will get much traction but a Canadian company is trying to build a mine on lake superior in Michigan that could completely destroy and contaminate 21% of the worlds freshwater supply if their proposed dam breaks. Please sign this petition if you're in the US to stop the whole project.

To any young Australian wondering who to vote for: Liberals, Nationals and Labor are pro-landlords and Greens are pro-renters.
So unless you own investment properties, it's against your own interests to vote for the major parties.
There is a lot more nuance between them and Labor is easily much better in government than the Coalition but simply put: the housing crisis is a product of policies introduced by the Liberals and reinforced by Labor over the past three decades. The Greens are the only political party trying to solve it.

"guys we're so cooked" "it's wraps" "the end is near" shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up. i say that with love because you are probably saying it out of distress and hopelessness, but for your own well-being and for everyone else's, please stop saying this shit.
no we are not "cooked." and by saying that, by the way, you are giving more power to the neo-nazi oligarchy in charge.
they want you to abandon all hope of a better life. they want you to believe "oh well, it's over, we might as well stop trying to fight back and just resign ourselves to despair forever."
every time you get on tiktok and comment "guys we're so cooked haha it's over," you are feeding into the mindset of hopeless compliance. you are, unknowingly, spreading this infectious idea that just because we've lost one battle, we've lost the entire war.
your words matter. i am saying this out of love and concern for our future, but please stop choosing words of defeat.

A reminder to anyone reading this that so-called Australia is stolen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lands, that we never ceded sovereignty to our colonizers. So called Australia is the only "Commonwealth" country that has never had a treaty with First Nations peoples. Only two years ago the government held a referendum to determine whether we, the sovereign peoples of this land, should have an advisory body in government and the nation voted no. So called Australia is the only nation that celebrates on January 26, the anniversary of the beginning of the attempted colonisation and genocide of its First Nations peoples. If you are not Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and you're living in so called Australia, you benefit directly from our colonisation and it's your duty to stand with us. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the most incarcerated people by percentage on Earth. We are also the oldest living, continuous culture known to humankind. For 100s of 1000s of years our Mob stood beautiful, Blak and deadly and we will continue to do so because this always was and always will be our lands. We are still here.

Idgaf if you don't want to write essays for school. I don't care if you don't want to write corporate emails yourself. I don't care if you can't draw well, I don't care if you can't write well, I don't care if you just really really want to talk to your favorite fictional character but don't want to RP with a real person because you have social anxiety or whatever
If you're still regularly using generative ai, chatgpt or midjourney or character.ai or literally whatever the fuck, im personally blaming you when my utility prices start going up.
