SURROGATING
Another jammer from the tropical hermits at the Rainbow Pyramid. On the A side, intense drones build to a crescendo of horn smears, while the B side marries lushly recorded nylon string guitar noodles with an insistent Bolero-like beat, wild heart opening sounds amid peals of thunder. Environmental music, similar to a lot of Rainbow Pyramid releases, formless instrumental compositions that construct vivid, humid internal environments.
Sold out in physical form, download below.

555 NEW OMNI VIBRATIONAL DESERT HYMNS
From New Orleans’ Chris Farstad comes a tape with an irresistable title, populated with atmospheric synthesizer psychedelia. Hallucinatory collages form varying colors in their overlapping frequencies, justifying 9+ minute running times for many of the tracks. A highlight is “Eagle Claw,” a magnificent zoner which seems to evoke places drawn from ancestral memory in its expansive depth of field.
Part of another excellent new batch from Rainbow Pyramid.

TULUUM SHIMMERING FESTIVAL AT THE SHALLOW RIVER
Noumenal Loom marks the death of the previous cycle and its rebirth in the next with a batch of tapes steeped in occult imagery, aligned with the stars and thus with the eternal recursive stasis of the One.
The winter solstice paradox of regeneration from dissolution is well-encapsulated in Tuluum Shimmering’s offering. Side A is the last moment of the cycle, a living gridlock in frigid nights of perfect stillness composed from scraped violin figures, tentative pan flutes, and leaden percussion. Days blend with nights in the long shadows of candlelit rooms; time accelerates into a constant. All moments condense into the present.
Side B is a long thaw, emerging from our darkest moments to find that the light has arrived. Tinkling bells snake like a stream through a thickly blanketed forest of wooden percussion and sighing melodies. As night approaches, glowing paper lanterns and crackling bonfires signal the breaking of winter’s spell. Once again we can dream of new possibilities; before us is our ocean.
Available from Noumenal Loom.
