This is my young dog Dean (because I’m called Sam, and I’m a Supernantural fan to the core). He’s a German shepherd, rottweiler, black lab and chow chow mix, although we fondly call him ‘curly butt mutt’. My boyfriend of two years recently enlisted into the US Airforce, and I didn’t like the idea of going it alone every day. I’ve had Dean a little over a month now, and besides being a cutie all day every day, he’s very loyal, intelligent, and is always the happiest dog. I don’t know what I’d do without him!

So I volunteer for an animal rescue and we’ve been fostering this little guy for a couple weeks. He’s so sweet and kind and loving. He was rescued from a home who hardly fed him and let him live with mange with no vet care. He’s been at our rescue for a year now, which is so hard to believe. I truly hope one day people stop over breeding animals or relinquishing them. So many are in shelters ready to give you their heart, you don’t need to always have a pure bread show dog. Mixed breeds actually have fewer medical issues than pure breeds! I understand that dog (and cat) bloodlines need to be carried down but people need to wake up and realize we need population control. There’s too many dogs in the shelters waiting for a second chance.  Please consider these things before you get a dog or cat.  (and if anyone has any questions I can do my best to answer them)  I hope at least a few people see this and it makes them think a little bit. Thanks to whoever (if anyone) reads this, and if you’d like to share this post it’d be greatly appreciated.
