after successfully dodging a rouge lego piece on the carpet mina flopped down onto the couch beside her husband, rubbing her temples. “what a day.” she huffed. she then dropped her hands and looked at her husband with disappointment all over her face, like the most horrible thought had crossed her mind. “i sound like a boring old person, don’t i? oh god. i’m about to have a mid-life crisis at twenty.” 

taeil had a raging headache. the boys were a little too loud today, and it took a lot longer to get seongjin to go to sleep. he was now sitting on the couch after mine seemed to have gotten the little boy to settle, staring at the muted tv, which was turned onto some kids’ channel. he looked over at mina when she flopped down next to him, his arm already on the back of the couch before she even sat down, so now it was behind her. taeil shook his head. “technically, it would be a quarter-life crisis.” he answered, voice sounding tired despite his little smile. “you okay? i know today’s been a lot...”

sonzander​:

zander laughed at the bluntness of his friend, nodding his head. “nothing new.” he shrugged, sipping his drink for a long few seconds just to drag it all out. “we have been for a few weeks.”

taeil nodded, and took a sip of his drink. he’s seen it coming. but what he said next almost made him spit out his drink. “a few weeks?! what the fuck??”

sonzander​:

he lent back in his chair, arm resting over the back as he gave taeil a devilish smile. “i was at yubin’s.” he stated plainly, raising his eyebrow just once afterwards to give some kind of hint. he then got to his feet, heading to the counter. “yep, i’ll leave you with that to think about.” he joked.

once he had an iced coffee and a bagel in hand, he sat back down with taeil, staying silent until everything was on the table and he was comfortable. “questions?”

“you... spent the night at yubin’s?” he asked, both of his eyebrows up. “dude! you didn’t...” he was honestly shocked to say the least. he would’ve never seen that coming from someone like yubin. but really, he didn’t really know the guy. so he wouldn’t have known. taeil rolled his eyes at his friend and leaned back in his seat as he sipped his coffee. and once he was back, he sighed. “so... ya’ll fucked?”

sonzander​:

zander had said he wasn’t going to tell, but by now he knew that yubin’s close friends had found out accidentally, and he couldn’t see the harm in one of his own friends knowing. “can you keep a secret?” he was half joking, but he wanted taeil to know not to bring it up to anyone else. “damn, alright. you made your point.”

“... are you kidding? i keep all of your secrets.” he raised an eyebrow at him, a little smile showing through. “well are you gonna order yours?”

“sorry, i’m late.” zander was casual in his apology as he shrugged his jacket off, leaving it thrown over the back of his chair. “i woke up late and had to come from- whatever, i’m sorry.” he chuckled, leaning round his friend slightly to look at the board of drinks in the cafe, seeing what he wanted to get. “you order already?”

taeil almost wondered if zander wasn’t going to arrive. but he saw him coming in and rolled his eyes. “yeah, yeah. where were you?” he asked. “yeah. i was tired of waiting for you and i need my coffee.”

mina took a little longer than usually getting ready, trying to get her new dress to match with what she already owned. she settled on a black mesh top beneath the little black dress, pairing it with the most comfortable heels she owned. “sorry i took forever.” she laughed as she walked from their room towards the front door, putting the back on her earring as she looked for her husband. with a sigh she checked herself in the hallway mirror one more time, smoothing down the dress and tilting her head in consideration.

taeil looked up from his phone and smiled at mina. he got up from the sofa and walked to the front door. he’s been ready for a while now. “it’s okay.” he shook his head. “you look amazing.” he leaned down and kissed her. “ready to go? the babysitter’s already here in the room with the boys.”

“the happiest.” she answered without a pause, resting her chin on his shoulder as she looked ahead at the view. the ocean was so clear, it was different to anything she’d seen before. “you’ve got a whole life to get used to it, it’s fine.”

“good. me too.” he answered quietly, gently leaning his head against hers. he then started to walk about, his legs hurting if he stayed standing while carrying her any longer. taeil wasn’t someone who liked trips, but this being specifically a honeymoon trip made it feel so different. he didn’t feel like he wanted to leave yet. “a whole life ahead... that’s crazy to think about. like one day we’re gonna be old people together and the kids will be our age now. i can’t imagine it.”

when he reminded her of her new name, she was smiling even wider than before. she lent down to leave a kiss on his cheek, squishing against him more than necessary and making a loud ‘mwah’ sound for emphasis. “i can’t think of anything better.” she was being cheesy, but she didn’t care. not now. “mrs park, it just sounds so good.” she laughed, kicking her feet again to try to splash him.

taeil scrunched his nose, pretending he was grossed out but actually laughing afterwards. “you’re so happy about that, aren’t you?” he grinned. “i think it needs some getting used to. i’m still used to nam.”

mina squealed as he pretended to drop her, tightening her grip around his shoulders and kicking her feet as they touched the water. “don’t you dare!” she threatened as she clung to him. “if i go down, you’re coming with me, park.”

taeil laughed loudly, holding her securely again. “mina.” he spoke, turning his head to look at her as much as he could. “did you forget that you’re a park now too?”

taeil balanced himself as he let mina get on his back for a piggyback ride, holding her thighs so she wouldn’t fall, and ran towards the water. they’ve decided to go to the beach that was so close to where they were staying for their honeymoon, and honestly, taeil was having fun. “oh, shit, hold on!” he laughed as he pretended he was going to drop her.

minanxm​:

“you will not, you’re a guest.” she shook her head, stubborn as always when it came to being a good host. especially when she picked up some extra shifts that month so she could make sure taeil had a great time whilst he visited. she stopped still at what he said next, stepping in front of him and pressing her hand onto his chest to stop him moving ahead. she narrowed her eyes at him before glancing back at minho to see if he was as confused as she was.

“what do you mean?” she asked when she turned back to taeil, sure that something was going on here now. “what’s going on?”

“fine.” he sighed, knowing she was too stubborn to change her mind easily. taeil stopped when she made him stop, seeing minho turning towards them and looking just as confused as mina was. taeil shrugged. “nothing, really. zander and i have a few plans.” he answered. truthfully, before telling mina that he was even coming, he was planning with zander how this would go. he worked more to save up enough for the move, and he it would be worth it if he knew what he wanted to do. “i’ve been wanting to move to london for a long time now.”

“you look handsome.” she disagreed, desperate to hold his hand as they walked up unable to as he pushed his things. instead she settled for bugging minho as revenge by poking his waist a couple times. “oh? well, you could’ve given me a heads up. the refrigerator is only stocked for a week.” she chuckled, using a fake american accent on the different use of word than usual. “that’s amazing news, really. a week felt so short already. how much longer?”

minho kept swatting mina’s hand away as he jumped away from her. taeil simply shook his head, not surprised to see that they were still the same as the last time he saw them together. “mina, we say fridge too.” he playfully rolled his eyes. “and i’ll help you stock up more.” taeil smiled, wiggling his eyebrows at her before answering. “indefinitely.”

“yeah, well, you deserve it for making me melt. i mean look at you. you told me you wouldn’t be date ready.” she playfully huffed before smiling into the kiss again, happy that he was just as good of a kisser as she’d hoped for. she rolled her eyes when minho interrupted, moving to pretend to kick him when he said he was third wheeling. “oh, to have a supportive best friend. what is that like?” she teased him back, sticking her tongue out at him before returning her attention back to taeil. it was then she realised how big both of his suitcases were. “packed a bit heavy for a week, didn’t you?” she laughed softly, pointing to the pair of bags. 

“date ready? i look like shit.” he smiled sheepishly as he looked down at his outfit. he was simply wearing a white shirt with jeans and a green jacket, and his long-ish hair was all over the place earlier before fixed it before coming out here. minho dodged mina’s kick and laughed loudly, turning around to walk ahead of them towards the exit. taeil looked at his bags as he pushed the cart, then at mina. “i didn’t tell you, but i think i might stay a little longer.” he said, now waiting for her reaction that he’s been waiting so long to see.

“hey.” she replied, giddy from how he’d held onto her. she met his gaze when he looked at her, hands moving to rest either side of his face. she wasn’t usually so publicly affectionate but she thought it was so unusual in an airport, and she really didn’t care when she’d waited so long. “you’re here.” she grinned, let out a breath of relief. her eyes drifted to his lips and she leaned in without much thought, leaving a gentle kiss on his lips. it only lasted a few seconds, but it was as sincere as she could make it. “i couldn’t wait any longer.”

“i’m here.” he grinned just as big, his heart beating super fast just at the simple thought that he was really seeing her in front of him right now. taeil wasn’t expecting her to kiss him so quickly, but he wasn’t complaining. in fact, he could almost combust right then and there. “i literally just got here and you’re already making me melt.” he laughed, kissing her once again. meanwhile minho behind them finally put his phone down. “alright, you two. get a room.” he sighed. that’s when taeil finally realized that minho was with mina. “minho, hey! i didn’t see you, sorry. how are you?” he greeted with a smile and moving to grab the cart with his bags. “i’m great. wishing i wasn’t third wheeling right now, but you know, it’s cool.” minho shrugged, smiling too. he didn’t look at all bothered; he just loved to mess with mina.

mina hadn’t been able to stop talking the whole drive to the airport, excited rambling flowing from her, only interrupted by the times her and minho turned up whatever cheesy pop was on the radio. 

they were a little early, so settled themselves in the coffee shop, mina eyeing the arrivals board every few minutes. when she got the text from taeil she was straight up on her feet, glad she was done with her iced tea and could just leave it behind, hands free to welcome her boyfriend. “oh my god, that’s him.” she tapped minho’s arm, seeing the boy who hadn’t noticed her yet. “tae!” she shouted once they were closer, not caring if a couple heads turned her way. then she was running, straight up towards him and throwing her arms around his neck, giggling as her face was squashed against her shoulder.

minho got up quickly enough, feeling startled as he tried to grab his coffee and open the camera app on his phone to capture this for mina. “hold on, my phone is slow!!” he called as he walked after her as fast as he could, and managing to record the moment that happened next. when taeil heard the familiar voice calling his name, his big smile appeared as he let go of the cart with his bags and opened his arms to hold mina who came running to him. he hugged her tightly and picked her up off the floor. “holy shit- hey.” he laughed, lightly swinging them side to side before putting her down. taeil couldn’t let go of her yet though, or take his eyes off of her. he didn’t even realize minho was right there a few feet away. “this is... so weird. in a good way.”
