♣ || Sam thinks that he’s dreaming. That there’s no way there’s actually a...a something coming out of the water. Tentacles for hair, and reaching out to him...should he take the hand? He knows the stories call for drowning, but really...it’s not like he has anything to lose?
Grabbing onto the rock behind him with his other hand, he reaches down, hesitantly touching the creature’s cold hand. He’s thin, and small, but he has no doubt that he’s strong beneath that stature. He’s got stunning eyes and his overall complexion is beautiful in an otherworldly way. Sam’s frozen, staring at the newcomer, and he can feel his heart begin to race.
And though it might be the last words he ever says, he just quietly whispers, “Hi. What’s your name?”

♣ || Slipstream blinks at her, not quite sure how to navigate this particular issue. “Of course. I simply did not wish to overstep,” he repeats, fighting the urge to fiddle with his servos, a nervous habit he had. “Although Master Drift keeps a close optic on Jetstorm and I’s functionality. And Momma, as well. But I thank you for, um, your concern.”
♔—;; || Now, she turned ever so slightly so as to better peer down at her substantially smaller company. “On the contrary,” she began, tone softening as she spoke. “Alerting others of ones condition is paramount to the team’s functionality. We must strive to keep our statuses and health properly maintained, so as to lessen the chance of injury in the field…”
While she barely showed it, she did care about the others. Should something happen to any of them—

♣ || Sam had lived here, in this town, for his entire life. The small town had sustained him for quite some time, letting him stay in solitude. He never knew his father, but he had lived in the town until his mother passed when he was 16. After that, he took the savings he had collected from working by the docks, and found a small shack on the beach for himself, effectively distancing himself (if only in spirit) from the house that contained all his memories of his mother. Over the years, he’d learned wood working, plumbing, and basic electrical work, and had shaped the shack into something worthy of the title “home”.
Now, at age 19, he has something of a regular job. A handy man for the town, and keeping his old schedule keeping job at the docks, kept him busy and money coming in. He wasn’t rich by any means, but he could afford to keep a roof over his head and make his own meals.
He lived in the corner of the beach, near the docks where he worked. A path lead up from the house to the long stone road that fed into town, getting more and more touristy as the businesses became newer and newer. Sam preferred this old sector.
It seems the people who lived here had lived here his entire life.
The boy led a normal, if not boring life. He was unsatisfied, but didn’t have the drive nor personality to be out seeking anyone closer. Friends had long since gone off to college, and he hadn’t been able to follow.
He was alone. And he thought he didn’t mind.
Although, lately, he had stopped thinking that he was so alone. He’d woken up more often than not waist deep in the ocean, effectively ruining his boxers and also worrying him. He had never sleep walked, never in his life. Why was he doing so now?
And he found himself humming strange songs that he had no words for throughout the day, in a range that was much higher than his own. They were beautiful, but how did he know them? The people he worked with, old and superstitious as they were, told him that his tales of “sleepwalking” and “waking up with songs you never heard before stuck in your head” were symptoms of a visit from a siren.
Of course he never believed them, why would he? But later that day, around sunset, Sam perched on a rock, determined to wait this out. If he heard something tonight, he’d be convinced. If he didn’t, well, what’s one more sleepless night?

{ ♥ } || ;; Jetstorm, he didn’t know why the name was given to him, all he knew was that it was – and it had stuck to him the moment that he hatched. Unknowing to him, he would be born into the world alone, with no sign of anything that resembled his birth parents… to be born in a world in which both water and land were totally different lifestyles. But… he would cope, find adventures wherever the currents took him. And even through his lonesome life, he still found happiness.                    Ah… but he would soon learn that all would change. There is this little house by the beach where a boy lives, somewhere close to Jetstorm’s age, and though the siren would love to meet him, he could not. It was a shame, for this boy was lonely as well, on this big beach, with no one but himself around… he knows of this loneliness, but he cannot do anything to help. But, perhaps he could do something, right?                    So, at night, when the human boy in the house would eat dinner, the siren would sing in the most beautiful of voices. Unknowing to the young creature that his singing made the human react quite oddly. Suddenly, that house door would open, and out came the human with the most emotionless look on his face. What could this human possible be doing? Jetstorm thought to himself, once, as he witnessed this. But, once he stopped singing, the boy would cease his walking, and then look around entirely confused. This alarmed the siren, and made him hide behind a rather larger rock at the deep parts of the shore. And this is when Jetstorm would learn that his singing prompted this human to stop what he was doing, and come to him in a zombie like manner. The poor human almost drowned once!                    And every time, the siren would stop singing, and hide away.                    Until this one time where the human finally saw him! Oh, Jetstorm was so frightened, and so scared that this human would run away from him. So, he ran first… well, swam away back into the water where the boy would not see him. And hopefully, he would not follow. But, that never stopped the siren from visiting the human, even if this boy didn’t know. There was something about him that fascinated Jetstorm. And he wanted to know more.

♣ || “Well, perhaps,” he begins, not wanting to disagree with her. “But Master Drift always warns against petulance.  sincerely hope I did not come across as such...” His formal speech was a marker of just how nervous he was that he had done something incorrectly.
♔—;; || “Mm.” She hummed shortly, continuing to type into the keypad. A small nod of her helm meets the Minicon’s more formal bow, even if it was not in her practice to do so, the respectful gesture would still be met with equal courtesy.
“You are allowed to voice your opinions, whatever they may be. It is your right to speak freely….”

♣ || “Oh! Pardon me, I do not. I was merely...complaining over what had transpired. I’m simply tired, that is all.” He bows in respect to the leader, his faceplates flushed with embarrassment at having been caught complaining. Master Drift would certainly have something to say about that.
♔— ;; || “Do you require assistance, Slipstream?” Her immediate attention remains on a nearby console, but it’s the thought that counts…. right?

Hopefully you can talk with your siren soon. Maybe it is a curse Siren and you can help them break their curse so they can be human again!
♣ || “I mean, at this point, anything is possible. But he doesn’t seem trapped to me. Just really shy.”

Have you tried singing back to your mermaid? Maybe they would stay longer.

Why don't you swim out to the Siren?
♣ || “He could leave, he swims faster than I do, I could get actually hurt, and that’s just an overall stupid idea? He leaves almost as soon as he stops singing, because he gets scared, presumably. If I were to go out there? He might never come back.”

Siren AU: Have you tried capturing the siren? So you don't get hurt?
♣ || “If he wants to hurt me, all he has to do is keep singing. I’d eventually drown myself. By virtue of me still being here, it means he doesn’t. So no, I haven’t tried, because I’m not concerned. And even if I did become concerned, I wouldn’t try.”
