As he walked towards the staff parking lot at a leisurely pace, he kept his focused locked on the small girl running ahead of him. When Frances had woken up this morning with a bad cough, Brennan had had no other choice than bringing her into work today. As the day had progressed, he had the sneaking suspicion some of this mysterious ailment might have been a lie; that didn’t bother him much though, with no actual lectures today, just office hours, Brennan appreciated her company. Noticing another familiar figure heading towards the car park, a smile grew on Brennan as he waved his arm slightly, “ Julian, mate! ” he called out. He didn’t get to see the other man enough now with Frances growing out of the university’s daycare, much to Brennan’s dismay.

Practically speed walking down the hall, Brennan looked down at the old watch on his wrist and picked up pace once more. He stopped in front of a door, glancing at the aged sign ‘Bainbridge School of Archaeology’. He jiggled with the doorknob before throwing the door open, “ Jesus Son, ” he began, dropping his bag onto the old couch by the door, “ the universe gave me every single bloody red light. Plus I got a call from the little one’s school half way here that she forgot her lunchbox so it was right back home. ” Brennan explained; despite the fact he had lived in England for over a decade, his Scottish was still loud and proud. 

He moved towards his desk, which was really two desks pushed together to from a mega desk. Despite the extra space, it still remained cluttered with stacks of books and papers, yet Brennan knew where everything was. “ Anyways, how has this morning been treating you? ” He asked, finally looking up towards his colleague as he took his seat.

Just your typical Scottish himbo

He had a very simple upbringing; his mother worked as a shopkeeper at a boutique in town, his father was the head groundskeeper at the local golf club

Brennan was always very smart, he was a knowledge sponge

Old stuff always interested him the most

He spent many summers sneaking around the castle ruins outside of town

Castle ruins soon turned into ancient things. while most teens in st. andrews became interested in football and golf, brennan was hooked on neolithic sites across europe

He was accepted into the archaeology program at oxford

Brennan met his first wife, Claudia, while at school!

They were both archaeology majors, their love blossoming as they traveled to all sorts of dig sites across europe

They got married young, she was 24 and he was 25

He was finishing his master’s when they found out their little couple was becoming a trio

Having frances was the best thing to happen to brennan

Everything seemed perfect for the little family, they settled down in brighton. brennan got a job as a research assistant at the university, his wife a curator at a local museum

Then his brother-in-law passed away suddenly

It affected claudia more than anyone would have imagined, their marriage began to fall apart just as brennan got his spot as a full professor. it was last year the divorce was finalized; brennan and his now ex wife mutually agreeing it would be best if he got majority of the custody over frances

While he’s tried to keep a happy face, it’s clear the divorce took a lot from him. frances is the light of his life still, they are two peas in a pod.
